It's a nice hotel but your stay will come at a steep price. Everything costs and it costs a lot. $26.50 to rent a parasol on the beach. $12 drinks. Expensive restaurants. $12.50 parking. $17 per day for decent Internet access. And on it goes. The room was nice, clean and spacious, but when I said I'd like a better view (mine was dominated facing the other Marriott Tower), I was offered an upgraded (not ultimate) view for "only" $59 a night; thanks so much.
Lots of activities available but again, at a price ($145/hr to rent a jet ski).
Staff, and I mean every single person I encountered, continuously asked how I was doing, I suppose to reinforce that they are concerned with my stay. It got old very quickly. But staff were generally pleasant and efficient.
The beach was nice and the water warm with a gentle slope into the gulf but the sand was filled with broken sea shells; bring your deck shoes.
There is very little within walking distance of the hotel so it's best to have a car. Rent at the airport as opposed to onsite at the hotel, much cheaper. Or take an $80 cab/limo ride from Fort Myers Airport an hour away.
Marco has an abundance of restaurants but for shopping go to Naples 20 miles or so away. [Details]
