We stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suites for 10 days over the Christmas holidays and enjoyed it immensely . . once we switched our room to one overlooking the harbor (Docks). Our booked room was a 'Studio' (one large room with a kitchenette & sitting area) The room was fine. Clean with lots of space . . but it was on the inside of the hotel complex. Its window & door looked out onto the hotel interior 'courtyard'. We had a feeling of claustrophobia as we had no idea looking out if it was sunny / raining / night 0r day. Okay for a 2 day stay . . but not what you want to experience on a longer stay in sunny Florida.
We switched to a one Bedroom suite overlooking the water on our 3rd day . . and what a change. Great room, great view and a large area to sit outside and enjoy the sun & atmosphere. If you are staying here for more than a couple days do yourself a favour and upgrade to the harbor side rooms ($30/night).It makes a world of difference.
6 or 7 really good restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Easy access to shopping (grocery stores & malls) within a 5 minute drive. [Details]

The strong points
Harbourside Suites. Close to restaurants. Nice pool. Friday all you can eat Grouper at the restaurant. They have a nice patio bar overlooking the water.
The weak points
Interior courtyard rooms offer no Florida atmosphere. Restaurant was just ok. Paper box (Tampa Bay Times) was empty by 9 am most mornings.
