Ixtapa

We have been to Mexico dozens of times and this time we wanted to see Ixtapa. We stayed a week here and upgraded to sunclub ocean view. Check in and out was a breeze. The room was dated but clean and the AC worked. The common areas were not cleaned enough imo and the lobby area furniture was disgustingly dirty. The food left us leaving for almost all of our meals. Raymundo at the swimup bar was fun. Coco café and Christian were great. All the staff we had encountered were very friendly and pleasant and wanted you to have a great time, The amount of day passes really needs to be addressed. And for this reason I would not recommend this resort. It was crazy busy during the day and very quiet at night. The buffet was terrible aside from the omelette bar, which was good. The Bluewater grill was just ok and the Italian restaurant was ok. Room service was ok. The liquor quality is sub par. We had 2 breakfasts, one lunch and 2 dinners during our week long stay. We experienced stomach issues as well as many others. Sunscape Dorado needs an updating as well as a limit on the day passes allowed and a better selection and quality of food options. We were hoping for a better quality experience. This did not feel like an AMR resort. If it wasn't for the excellent staff, we would not have enjoyed our stay at this resort and we are low maintenance and rarely complain or give negative reviews. The surrounding area wasn't our cup of tea. Limited culture and it felt like a retired old cruise ship terminal area. We won't be staying in Ixtapa again and will opt for the beautiful and culturally rich Zihuatanejo area.

The hotel was over capacity. The resort is too small for the amount of people staying there. We never swam in the pool and were unable to get a single chair.

Krystal resort should never be rated at a 3.9. It is way less. 99% were locals which we never had a problem with but when you go away on vacation it is nice to talk to other travellers who speak your same language. The food was horrible. No selection and always cold. The el a carts were much better then the buffets. Drink selection was limited which sucked! Husband was fine with beer but I am more picker and like mudslides or Bahamas mommas. Nothing like that there. We didn't have hot water in our room twice. No fridge or cold bottle water. Had to have ice water at the buffets. The room was cleaned everyday and have to say the views were amazing. Ocean is rough on that side. Beach is gorgeous! There was suppose to be an adult only pool but there were no signs posted and kids were in there at all times. When we mentioned that to staff they did nothing about it. The water slide was a lot of fun that was needed. Be careful having the hamburgers at the snack bar as many people got sick from them. Ixtapa is a great little town. Many friendly people. DO NOT USE THE ATM AT THE BANK IN THE MIDDLE OF TOWN BECAUSE I TRIED USING THE MACHINE TWICE AND NEVER GOT ANY MONEY OUT BUT THEY TOOK IT OUT OF MY BANK ACCOUNT. When I confronted them all they could say is call your bank. No help at all. It was a struggle trying to get the banks address and the teller's name who helped me at the atm. A most go is to Playa Linda and Zhuhai. Basically, Ixtapa, is a great quiet little place to visit but the hotel itself should be only for locals and taken off as a selection through the airlines as an all inclusive.

impressed with all physical aspects of the hotel particularly the cleanliness of the grounds and restaurants.Very efficient and extremely friendly staff.Cipriano the coffee barista is a great goodwill ambassador for the hotel. Liked having the 3 different pools. 'Handicapped' room was helpful and railings down to the pool, etc.

The Emporio was disappointing. There were 3 people staying in the room, sometimes we got one face cloth and other times we had to ask for it. The room smelled of mold. There were sand particles on the floor of the room. The food was adequate, but the main dinning room seating had bird poop on every chair. You got one free coffee packet and one free bottled water for the week. The specialty dinning option was very good but you have to book them ahead of time. The staff were great. Most of the lounging chairs had bird poop on them. The beach towels are numbered and have to be signed out. People are allowed to reserve the pool lounges the night before by putting chairs, towels and books on them, but sometimes, you never see the people using them. Good location. Would not stay there again.

I would next time get just the beverages plan and breakfast plan only -NOT ALL INCLUSIVE - but dinner I would go out on the strip-all 10-20 min walk -fun safe experience on the strip - restaurant foods were great and reasonably priced - HOTEL FOOD WAS VERY AUTHENTIC MEXICAN I DID NOT CARE FOR THE BUFFET
