My wife and I stayed at this resort form may 13-may20. Let me start off by saying the STAFF WAS AMAZING!!!
-Yojairy Hernandez (front desk) she check us in! She's patient and kind and helped us out when we had a room situation -Rafalin( manager on duty for most of our days) he was composed and helpful when we wanted to know how to get reservations. He also get yelled at by people a lot especially that lady that booked a wrong room and yelled at him to fix it. Be patient with him. -Rosailyn( she's from the spa). She's is such a nice person and laughs at all my jokes. Made our spa experience amazing! -luis ( bell hop) we asked him to show us around all the melia resorts for us to get an idea of where we can stay next time. He dedicated twenty minutes in a golf cart to do so. Also when we were locked out, he helped me get a key from quimera building. - yordalina ( bar balance) . Let me say both girls working there were too kind and always had our tea ready and our spot open. -Bleikon( front desk bell hop) . This guy is a legend. We needed masks for our boogie experience and he went out of his way to go and get it for us at a discounted price. He deserves all good things , plus he would laugh at my jokes lol -Danny( from excursions) . He booked our day trip in the boogies. He gave us the best price. Go see Danny. Don't waste time with the beach guys. Danny is honest. He also called me yendel (famous reggaeton celebrity) so he has a good sense of humor lol -Sandro( main bell hop guy) HE IS THE BEST! From the moment we got out of our bus until we left he would always check in on me. He showed us around the resort and would always check in daily to see if we needed anything. -Zully( concierge) I LOVE YOU. YOU MADE OUR TRIP THE BEST. YOU ALLOWED US TO RELAX AND PROVIDED PEACE OF MIND. OUR TRIP WAS ONLY GOOD BECAUSE OF YOU. You helped us with reservations and you answered all our questions. You even worked when you weren't get paid after hours. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. You and Sandro will always be remembered. You deserve a raise and you are an excellent representation of MELIA. We would only come back to see you and sandro. If you ever leave Melia and go somewhere else to work , message me, because that's the only hotel I'm going to!
Food was good. Resort was clean but outdated. They renovated but still not five star updated. Wifi is okay not the fastest especially on the outskirts of the resort. I still give it a five star because of the people but primarily because of ZULLY AND SANDRO. Love you both! [Details]

-Long walks up and down to beach and food locations. Long waits for ferrying on carts. I liked walking, but mid day it was way too hot and ended up getting blisters from all my walking.
-They didnt change my sheets, even after complaining, they kept remaking the bed while I was out and calling it good, I had to rip them off to get them changed. Gross. I've never experienced this, and the inability for them to remedy this. 3-4 days is unacceptable. I even tipped the first 4 days to try and ensure better service.
-Food is very mediocre, don't expect anything special. Was fairly consistent. I never walked away hungry at least.
-Staff is very inconsistent, some are top notch and a pleasure, some don't care and are rude. Poor management.
-The beach and grounds are well kept, did not have any issues, very pretty and picturesque.
-There is no night life, and no food after 10, its a wellness resort, but it would be nice to kick loose after 11pm. I like quiet, but this was extreme.
-It is very close to the airport and many excursions, I hate traveling on busses, so this a huge plus.
-I'd strongly recommend the family side over the adult side, I spent time on both. The family side has way more chairs at the beach and pool.
-I don't recommend it, but I wouldn't beg someone to change their minds either.
-The internet was quite good, I didn't need to use roaming and was able to do video calls home.
-All the rooms are near identical, upgrading means closer to pool, not amenities, no jacuzzi in base or upgrade non-level. [Details]

We selected this hotel because it was adult only and rated 5-stars. My overall initial impression upon arriving was 'vow - beautiful' and it truly is a beautiful hotel. Where they fall short are the little things that would truly make this a first-class hotel - SERVICE and FOOD! First off, the property is sprawling and if you are not staying in what they categorize as The LEVEL you wait forever, for the trollies to take you to and from the lobby, a al carte restaurants, buffets, the beach, and your room...there is a lot of waiting around. A simple thing as increasing the number of trollies from 3 to maybe 5 and have them running more frequently would help the situation ... and did I mention that they use these same trollies to transport their staff back and forth (with guests in tow) as well! The second thing that completely grossed me out were these microscopic bugs that were crawling around everywhere in my room over the solid surfaces - and they were not hard to see as everything is basically white in the rooms. We expected bugs in the Caribbean, but they were there wherever we turned in my room. Let us just say I sealed my toiletries in Ziploc, always locked our suitcases and sprayed Lysol on our sheets every night. The situation just became a nuisance, but we lived with it. The third was general housekeeping. The housekeeping staff were completely inconsistent. I think out of the 7 days we were there we had to call for towels (wash clothes specifically) on 3 occasions - very annoying especially since we had to wait over an hour each time for them to arrive. The fourth issue was that the TV stopped working after day 2 and was only fixed on day 5. The staff offered no timing just that they were working on it. The last and final straw - the water shut off. My husband was in the process of showering (fully lathered) and the water suddenly shut off. After calling the front (who offered no explanation by the way) just said they would investigate it. Two hours later after calling back, they advised that there was an issue, and it would be back on in a few minutes. It was but soured our entire experience. It is worth it to mention, that we have 2 meals at the a la cart restaurants and on both occasions, we had to send the meal back to be recooked - unless you like your steak 'blue' I would suggest staying away from order steak at this property. This was not what we envisioned a 5-star property would be and I travel extensively across the globe. The Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort falls short. [Details]

What a beautiful resort with luscious grounds. The staff are wonderful and willing to help you with what you need. We stayed at the AO Level and had a concierge who booked our a la carte restaurants and spa treatments. The food was good at both the a la cartes and buffet. Our room, 1201, had 2 beds and was spacious with a big shower. The pool was large and refreshing. The beach was beautiful and you could walk for miles. There was seaweed but there was staff out there during the day raking it up. If you are looking for a party resort this is not the place for you. It was very relaxing and more of an older crowd. They played music during the classes in the pool but personal speakers were not allowed. [Details]

The grounds of the Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort are absolutely beautiful. We stayed in The Level and highly recommend it. The rooms are average - just your regular resort room - but were clean and minibar and snacks restocked daily without issue. While the food is good throughout the resort, the food at Quinmera (only for Level guests) is next level delicious. The Level also has a rooftop bar, with the best bartenders and drinks on the resort. Because of this, we ended up spending a lot of time there, whether for pre-dinner or post-dinner drinks. The nightly entertainment at the resort is lacking, which could be why we spent more time at the rooftop bar than expected, however by the end of the trip we discovered that the entertainment at the family resort was WAY better, and you can easily just walk over (although you may not be able to get drinks on that side if they see you have a different bracelet). We didn't find it difficult to get beach chairs, including the nice covered areas…as long as you woke up by 7am. This was the main downside for us. Also, note that there is no music at the pool except during exercise sessions. This was strange to us, but since this is a “Wellness” resort, if you want pure relaxation, you would likely appreciate the silence. As an aside, if you are an avid tennis player, note that you will have to pay to go to a local tennis club to play (but they will arrange transportation for you to get there). Yes, there ARE tennis courts on the resort property…just don't expect to use them. [Details]

The Melia AO Wellness Resort was incredible overall. They've done the work to make you feel as though you are in an oasis that is focused on well-being and relaxation. There was a variety of food provided each day and for the most part it was good for a resort. The staff, while not very fluent in English, are extremely polite and helpful. Regardless of their position, they all work to ensure each guest has a wonderful experience. We particularly loved Jose and Tony at the main lobby bar. They were unbelievably kind and awesome bartenders!
The resort itself is massive which provides many opportunities to experience something different each day (Yoga, Volleyball, Water Aerobics, Gym Facilities, etc). The sister resort which is for families is also accessible and has different opportunities such as a casino and a live sit-down entertainment section.
I would highly recommend this resort to those who have never been! [Details]

This is a very large resort and all amenities struggle. Our room bar supply and snacks were stocked and impressive. Never replenished at all after first day unless we asked Towel zombies were up at 6am daily reserving loungers by the pool. All gone by 7am. Many were reserved and not used all day because the same people reserved others at the beach too!! Pool bar ran out of beer daily, sanitary attention was rare. Beach restaurant was overwhelmed daily. We were able to book a la cart once in 8 days as the same zombies were at the reservation desk before opening forming a deep line and by the time we arrived restaurants were “full”. Walked by that night and many half full. Same double towel theory I would guess!! We had great weather as the trip was saved by that. Sad that the anxiety over service casts a shadow [Details]

Rude staff: as guests of Melia Punta Cana Wellness Adts had access to Melia Caribe buffets Tartufo/Mercado. Once at Tartufo trying to find a quiet table, in a section just then opened, we sat, a waitress warned us that section was closed adding "if we sat there, we'd get no service". No service needed, we were just finishing and ready to leave; she brought coffee anyway. A bit later, head waiter Lisandro Mercedez, accompanied by a big guy, barged in to our table warning us in Spanish that Punta Cana customers were not allowed in Tartufo. He continued until we asked politely to let us finish but he stayed there. We filled an incident report. His manager, Mr Eddy, apologized and confirmed we had access to all buffets. Broken amenities- arrived on October 5th, late in the evening, were given room 1119. Inside it was 27 Centigrade but told it would cool at night. A/C was very noisy, so we believed it. It didn't and we couldn't sleep. We kept going to front desk daily. 3 days later, Saturday night around 9 PM, a technician came. He tried to repair the A/C but could not. We moved to room 1114 with fishy-foul odor in the bathroom, sink drain dripping on the floor, shower, phone and coffee maker - broken. Next morning Front desk manager with Guests service supervisor came; acknowledged and took pictures. The only room 1201 available was in the Level section considered an upgrade. A/C gave a strong mold odor. That evening, Oct 11, we moved again and after a few calls for the technicians, this room, 1219, became acceptable. [Details]

Overall it is a nice hotel and wonderful staff! It is a huge resort and with the adult perks you can go to both sides of the resort but take the train!! The beach is amazing, the food was good, very similar to home! Seafood was delicious!! I would suggest getting a beach front room if you don't want to do alot of walking during the day! The train only runs every 15mins and stops at 11pm (before the lobby bars shut down). There is no bank and the casino doesn't like to exchange your money, plus you have to guess what time they are open as there is never a straight time from the workers. The adult pool is just for relaxing and reading! There are no music signs up and no loud things happen at the pool, even loud groups get shushed. [Details]

This resort over promised and under delivered. We paid the extra for The Level premiums and the only saving grace was our concierge whom we could message at any time and he'd make sure things happened for us (Nathanael). Our check in was disappointing. We had premium check in at The Level and while there were premium drinks available on the bar there was not a glass in sight. No one offered us a welcome drink and we couldn't even get one of our own. There were snacks on The Level but no plates to gather them. We had to eat the cake with our fingers on a napkin. This never changed in the 10 days we were there. After we registered we were told to wait for our concierge to take us to our room. We managed to find some small champagne flutes from a staff member and I drank my scotch from this. We waited an hour before another concierge saw us and decided to take us to our room. We never did see the original concierge ever.
The buffet was okay but nothing special. There was half the variety from other resorts. There was a hamburger station with buns and all the extras but no one at the grill making hamburgers. The food at The Level restaurant was hit and miss. Some of it was pre-prepared so it came out cold and overcooked, such as the salmon eggs benedict. There also seemed to be no care regarding changes to orders. When I requested no mushrooms on orders they still came almost every time. Same goes for when they ask how you would like your eggs done, or your steak. Medium steak came rare, medium eggs came over hard.
The Mexican al la carte was the biggest dissapointment. The salad bar was not good and the soup terrine was empty. The pork tacos were all fatty so you can't bite through it. You end up with meat hanging from your chin. The flavours were not mexican either..
The Spanish a la carte was pretty good. All 4 of us enjoyed the meal.
We tried Italian twice because the first time we walked out after 1.5 hours of waiting for our meal. They had 2 chefs in the kitchen working on an over 60 capacity restaurant. The 2nd time we went they at least got the time down to 45 minutes. The food was tasty at least. This restaurant had the worst service by far.
The Vietnamese restaurant was excellent. The pho wasn't authentic but it was tasty. The food was delicious and the service was as it was expected. There was a dining room manager watching over all the tables and I feel this made the difference in service. We wish we tried this one a few more times.
There were virtually no covid protocols in place in the restaurants except the buffets where they checked you for a mask and gave you a single glove to handle the serving utensils. On the family side (Caribe) there were maskless children running up and down the buffet. In the a la carte restaurants there were no masks required at any time. It's as if there wasn't a pandemic. No mask enforcement and people were lining up directly behind us without any physical distancing. 99% of people at the resort never wore masks ANYWHERE. It was terrifying at times when people were sneezing and coughing without covering their face.
This resort is mostly European travelers. This resort has no smoking policy so people were smoking in the buffet as well as at The Level restaurant inside and out. Spoiled many meals for us.
95% of the employees we interacted with never spoke even basic english. I think the influx of travelers from Spain has made them a bit lazy on service in english. Our one server couldn't even take our order when I was asking for a specific alcohol which was on the bar and that I'd been drinking all week. I can't count how many times we had to settle for what we got instead of what we asked for.
The Level was overpriced for what we received. There is no pillow menu as advertised nor is there 24hr room service as stated. It closed at 10pm. Premium drinks on The Level were appreciated when there was glassware and the snacks would have been tasty if there was a way to eat it.
The spa was quite good but they were wishy washy with their pricing. One person would offer us 10% discount on the next service and then we'd come in and there was no discount. They are making promises to get the bookings. The massages were good (hot stone and deep tissue). The "reflexology" isn't actual reflexology. It was just a leg and foot massage. The 50 minute pedicure turned out to be less than half that length and they just put a single (and sloppy) layer of polish on without a clear coat. My wife had to ask for the polish to be fixed as my 9 year old niece could have done better.
All in all this resort might be good for people who are NOT focused on wellness as this place was not covid safe and the fact that people could smoke or vape anywhere made it intolerable at times. For the $6100 we paid we got better quality for 1/3 that price in other countries. [Details]

We got to the hotel from our shuttle and couldn't even believe how beautiful it was. Beautiful furniture, hanging swings and chairs, cabanas everywhere in the lobby as well as the beach. We could tell right away the hotel was not that busy, for one we found a sheltered area on the beach daily to sunbath, but also all the restaurants were half empty. All the restaurants were accessible, you did not have to reserve. We loved this so much The beach sand did not get hot, I guess they told us it's “pure” sand and we loved that feature. The variety of restaurants was also a bonus. Staff were constantly asking if we needed help and we did have our own concierge we could call for support named Roberto. All in all it was an amazing, relaxing vacation and we loved the resort. [Details]

The hotel was still undergoing upgrades. Our first assigned room was like a hospital room. White.Cold.Tasteless and not upgraded. We went back and asked to move. The second room was upgraded and I was happy with the 4star quality. The glass wall between the bathroom and bedroom was really unfortunate. I don't need to see my spouse on the toilet!! Food was good. We enjoyed the thai restaurant and Italian. This is a huge property. You need to take a golf cart or ridiculous train to get from the beach to the restaurants. Beach was really nice. Lots of chairs and room to spread out. Pool was chilly so we didn't go in but nice. No beach service for drinks. Overall I expected 4 star and was happy with it as a 4 star. [Details]

We really liked this resort. It was our first visit to the DR. Kind of wished there was more entertainment and a disco. Our room location was perfect. We tried Italian, Mexican and Japanese restaurant(Japanese should be included in price). We were charged one price and others were charged something different. Food was amazing and so were the drinks. Didn't like being approached about time shares. Made it sound like they wanted us to view another resort to potentially stay there but it was a lie. Also didn't care for all the guys/girls on beach bugging us to buy stuff. They were very pushy. Prefer relaxing vacation and not to be bothered constantly to buy excursions/merchandise. [Details]

Just returned from our vacation with such disappointment. Let me start from the beginning, once we landed we were taken in a minivan just the two of us to Melia Tropical the sister hotel and the driver was dropping us off there at the wrong resort, security had to tell them it was the wrong resort. Once we were dropped off at our correct resort we checked in, it was a beautiful entrance people were friendly. Again to go back to airport we could not get picked up at our resort and no one could tell us why. We check in at about noon and were told check in is at 3:00pm to go and have lunch and get to know the resort. No problem we did that, at 3:00 we went to reception to get our room, we were advised room not ready. We waited until 5:30 to get our room we had been up since 3:00 am that morning it was very upsetting. They take us to our room, maid was just finishing cleaning, the mattress on the sofa was stained and wet with who knows what, pointed it out to her she flipped it over, we said no we want a new one. She left, the patio door did not lock and had no chairs on the balcony, called maintenance, the bathroom was filthy and when you turned on the tap it sprayed water all over. Maintenance put new lock on patio door and changed the screening on the tap. After all this we go to bathroom and water is flooding the bathroom floor from the ceiling. Finally client service Paula came and gave us a better room she was the only one that helped, the others just apologize and do nothing. Thank you Paula.
Let's talk about dining, the restaurants are very nicely decorated, the food is mediocre and the service is the worse we have ever had. We are seasoned travelers we have visited many countries and this resort was way below expectations. The wait staff are running around like they have no idea what they are doing, there is no service in the restaurants, at the pool or at the beach, period. We had one restaurant open for breakfast and it was buffet that was ok. At the adults only resort we had one restaurant for lunch and it was buffet we spent seven days at the resort and for seven days the buffet was the same food day in and day out no variety whatsoever. Yes we had access to the sister resort but the buffet there was the same as ours and the two beach restaurants were not appealing at all both had hot dogs and hamburgers. We expected so much better. And food is not covered, flies are all over the food so disgusting. To get from the restaurants and your room if you are by the pool or beach it is a 10 minute walk they have a train or golf carts but you could wait awhile as they don't come often.
The pool is nice and big but its cold, the hot tub or spa is not functioning it just sits full of water and is slimy.
Julio and Candida are at the bar at reception they are very friendly and nice. Julio makes best chocolate martini. Security is very good on keeping kids out of resort. Wi fy was great to have throughout the resort
This is a 3 start resort it is in no way a 4.5 star. They charge 4.5 star but you are only getting 3 star services. Date of stay: January 2019 [Details]

-Rafalin( manager on duty for most of our days) he was composed and helpful when we wanted to know how to get reservations.
He deserves all good things , plus he would laugh at my jokes lol
-Danny( from excursions) . He booked our day trip in the boogies. He gave us the best price. Go see Danny. Don't waste time with the beach guys. Danny is honest. He also called me yendel (famous reggaeton celebrity) so he has a good sense of humor lol
-Sandro( main bell hop guy) HE IS THE BEST!
[Details]
Not amazing, but great location and atmosphere.
[Details]
Underwhelmed
Week In Paradise
If you are looking for a party resort this is not the place for you. It was very relaxing and more of an older crowd. They played music during the classes in the pool but personal speakers were not allowed. [Details]
Great resort!
Beautiful Escape
The resort itself is massive which provides many opportunities to experience something different each day (Yoga, Volleyball, Water Aerobics, Gym Facilities, etc). The sister resort which is for families is also accessible and has different opportunities such as a casino and a live sit-down entertainment section.
I would highly recommend this resort to those who have never been! [Details]
Inconsistent Stay
Towel zombies were up at 6am daily reserving loungers by the pool.
Unpleasant experience-vacation ruined
Melia punta Cana wellness adults only
Not Covid friendly
[Details]
Good experience
Man those beaches!
The beach sand did not get hot, I guess they told us it's “pure” sand and we loved that feature.
The variety of restaurants was also a bonus.
Staff were constantly asking if we needed help and we did have our own concierge we could call for support named Roberto. All in all it was an amazing, relaxing vacation and we loved the resort. [Details]
Amazing vacation
During Reno visit
Food was good. We enjoyed the thai restaurant and Italian. This is a huge property. You need to take a golf cart or ridiculous train to get from the beach to the restaurants. Beach was really nice. Lots of chairs and room to spread out. Pool was chilly so we didn't go in but nice. No beach service for drinks. Overall I expected 4 star and was happy with it as a 4 star. [Details]
Our one week stay
Didn't like being approached about time shares. Made it sound like they wanted us to view another resort to potentially stay there but it was a lie. Also didn't care for all the guys/girls on beach bugging us to buy stuff. They were very pushy. Prefer relaxing vacation and not to be bothered constantly to buy excursions/merchandise. [Details]
Very Disapointing
