Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville

This hotel is clean and the service is good. Any problems we had were dealt with right away. The butler we had Jose Ozoria was terrific. The pools were really nice and always clean and the entertainment stuff was amazing. [Details]

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this resort. It was a delight to be greeted with friendly smiles from all who work there. Shout-outs to Pedro and all of the servers and staff for their amazing dedication to make us feel at home.
The beach is nice and flat which makes it easy to walk. We did not swim in the ocean as it was not clear but there are pools throughout the resort…a pool down by the ocean and a “quiet pool” further up in the resort. It was so relaxing to be able to sit at the quiet pool without having music blaring. This is the first time that we have been able to enjoy an “Adults Only” pool that was low key. You can also access the facilities at the Family side of this resort…the best of both words!
We can't say enough about this resort. I believe that we have found our “getaway” for our yearly escape from our Ontario winters.

This hotel was overall fantastic! The staff are very friendly and made us feel so welcome. Johnny Mateo was the manager of Los Corales and made sure the wait time to be seated and served was next to none. He checked on us during our meals even though our server Omar Ortiz was doing an amazing job as well. Very fun and up beat. The pool side activities were fun, circus show and beach party with a fire show were spectacular, and if you want a quiter place to be for a day, the quiet pool was quite relaxing. The food was delicious at the a la carte's and buffet. Isuray our butler checked in every time he saw us whether we needed him or not. So many wonderful people work here and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Rooms were clean, large, and had a beautiful patio. Only downside to the rooms were the shower door didn't quite close all the way and the water pressure on the 3rd floor was less than desired. Beds were quite firm but never had a bad sleep while we were there. [Details]

Grounds are very nice. Entertainment is one of the best I saw. Staff is nice and helpful.
Not impressed by the Ala-Carte restaurants except for the Italian.
Buffet restaurant is good for breakfast and lunch but not for dinner.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our vacation immensely . A few points need attention please . Room was not cleaned daily, 2 times missed and towels not replenished so we had no towels at all. Buffet not hot enough. Entertainment was wonderful, but we wanted to dance and it just wasn't available enough times. A little far from the airport... [Details]

I came to Bouganville for the 2nd time. My first trip was next door at the family units.

We visited resort on Dec.02-09,2021. Stayed in building #55 room 55110, nice and quiet place with garden and "no neighbor" view from balcony. We felt "covid" safe there, staff is friendly, tentative and cleaning constantly. They are really trying hard to please you. Check in was fast, welcome drinks and cool wet hand towel was a nice touch. The only thing was disappointing is the water at the beech was murky with seaweeds, but if you prefer pool, than it will be a lot of fun as well. Food was good in both buffet and restaurants (Don Pablo & Tahara) we liked better. Resort in general looks very clean, tidy and freshly renovated. Rooms are spacious with king size bed and crispy linens. We would return again 100%. [Details]

We liked the hotel very much. We got a very nice ,spacious and comfortable room. Oceanfront suite with balcony really worth it! Food was very good ( buffet and we tried two specialty restaurants: Don Pablo ans Los Corales) Hotel premises were beautiful and well maintained. Staff is attentive and courteous ( Joel, Joachin, Jose ,Erika, Daniel, Yohan, Israël) .The gym was closed for renovations. The two pools were very nice.The beach was ok ( in front of the hotel the water was not clear but we could walk to the Beach club and swim over there) .PCR tests to return were available nearby hotel.We had a very good vacation. If you like lukewarm foods served at the buffet this is the place for you. If you like having to call 3 times to get a noisy toilet tank refill repaired stay here (it was quieter but still leaking when we left) If you like a room that does not have hot water you will get one here. Dirty toilets at pool ?....you got it!! As for rainy day activities, if English language TV that shows nothing but old NFL and MLB games and horse racing is for you, you'll love this place. If reading is your thing, a few old books and magazines that obviously were left by previous guests are available at the towel hut. Management has thoughtfully saved these and placed them in the huts. Those are your rainy day options. They would have to pay us to come back and even if they were to offer we might not want to waste our vacation time - 'nuff said. "Recommended for" is required for the review but does not include a "Not Recommended" option so we ticked "Shopping" but we do not actually recommend that. Overall not worth the money or time. Had a great time.
Had problems climbing the stairs as room was on third floor and no elevators. At least got my exercise in.
Should have dedicated areas for smokers away from non smokers. At the pool you get nice and settled and then someone comes next to you and lights up, did not appreciate that.
Staff was very friendly and made us feel special.

This is a beautiful hotel. Beach the pools are all very nice. The staff are so friendly. The entertainment crew are great. Especially the lady. She has such a warm and beautiful smile that makes you want to get up an enjoy yourself. The people we encounter were all very friendly. Jose who works in the restaurant was such a great and friendly person. He took care of us and made us feel like family. Our butler Isaury was great. He surprised us with a bubble bath, champagne, rose petals how romantic. What a nice thing to do for us. Thank you again. [Details]

Our stay was enjoyable. Resort well laid out. Need water shoes if you want to go in the sea as the bottom a little weedy. Rooms very clean. Staff go out of their way to please very eager to please. The food was very good, buffet as good as any of the a la cart restaurant that we went to. Least favourite restaurant was the Raccio. [Details]

If you are looking for a nice quiet relaxing vacation this is the place. Nice small resort that you will be pampered in. The rooms are nice and up to date. The restaurants are always clean and staff is pleasant. The a la Carte restaurants food is excellent and the service great. The buffet the food was always fresh and plentiful. The beach was amazing and plenty of chairs and palapas.

The bus ride was a bit long from Punta Cana but we did stop 1/2 way and got beer etc.

Our 4th trip to a Bahia Resort. First 3 were to Bahia Punta Cana. We find Bahia PC getting too big with many more people and the beaches and pools not growing. The Bahia Bouganville in LaRomana is much smaller but just as enjoyable and upscale as Punta Cana was.
Staff is very friendly. Rooms are spotless. Pools and beach are enjoyable and very clean. One thing we found was that there were plenty of palapas around the pools and on the beach and we were always able to find a spot all times of the day.
It's about a 20 minute further drive then Punta Cana, but well worth it. [Details]

It was a piece of paradise. Beautiful grounds with manicured tropical plants, very spacious beautiful room, jacuzzi, shower, separate areas for quiet relax and entertainment. Live music for dancing every night or going next door for bigger performances. Beach has monumental tall palms, gently swaying in the wind and beautiful plants everywhere. Food is fantastic and plenty. Service is very friendly. Two large pools, with jacuzzi areas, also beds with shade covers in another beach area. Activity team was very lively and taking good care of singles. Haven't seen any mosquitoes. Excursions, spa, billiard, free wi-fi even at the beach, shops at the hotel and walking distance. We had a great time, food was amazing. Few negative points: hotel under construction, found 2 cockroaches in the hotel room, balcony door is broken so we couldn't lock the door, toilet flushing system wasn't working only once in a while, beach water brown zero waves and pool closed too early at 7pm... Overall it was a very pleasant stay. Staff was amazing, very friendly and helpful. Food was very good. It is more of a quite relaxing place. There are activities but nothing too loud or that lasted all afternoon. You are very close to the other hotel, Bahia Principe La Romana, so if you want livelier shows and entertainment you can go there. Only thing that we did not like was the beach. It is very murky and you can see factories on the horizon. However, if you take a five minutes walk to the left side of the beach, there is an area where the water is much clearer. [Details]

Loved the accommodations, but was very disappointed in the beach. We didn't see anyone swimming as the water was murky and brown.
There were so many chairs on the beach but very few being used because the view was just not nice. The pool was great, no problem getting a chair, no matter what time of day, but I don't think it was full the week we were there.
Also disappointing was the buffet. The food temperatures were inconsistent, hot dishes only warm,scrambled eggs one morning were cold,even though it was a full pan.
I would not consider this hotel a 5 star, possibly 3 or 4, due to the beach. The cocktails were OK but missing were the exotic drinks we had at another resort in La Romana. Also missing was poolside bar service we have experienced at other Bahia resorts. Unfortunately we will not recommend this resort unless they great improvements on the beach and food.
