Amazing vacation
We resided at the RIU Palace Macao (Adults only resort) March 5 - 19th. Our room was located on the 2nd floor, it was nice & clean. We booked an upgraded room (Superior Junior suite) and were very happy being on the pools/ocean side. Wi-Fi is free in your room. The AC worked fine for the duration of our stay, it was very quiet (like our central air at home). We had a king size bed which we found comfortable. There is lots of drawers/storage space. There is a ceiling fan above the bed which we enjoyed. The patio door curtains are opaque. Our balcony was private 2 chairs a small table & a small drying rack. The balconies have a cement wall (approx. 6.5 feet high) on each side that prevents you from looking at the neighbours balconies. Our maid service was excellent. We always had our fridge (beers, 500 ml soft drinks & 1.5 L water bottle) & bathroom towels/items... replenished when needed. There is also 4 bottles of different alcohol types (Gin, Tequila, Rum & Vodka) with a measuring dispenser. In the washroom you have a very spacious walk-in shower with the option of a rain forest flow or hand held shower head. There are two sinks. In the closet, there are many wood hangers (approx. 20). The free digital safe is located at the bottom of the closet (approx. 4 inches from the floor). The food was very good at all the locations we ate: Buffet (main building for breakfast & dinner. For lunch the buffet is served in a separate building away from the main building (between the night À la Carte restaurants (Italian & Grill specialities)). All the buffet style restaurants have a wide variety of meats, fish, pastas, cold cuts, breads, cheeses, salads, sushi's, fresh fruits/vegetables, jams, nutella, ice cream, yogurts, deserts, condiments, syrups, etc...). The food at the four À la Carte restaurants (No reservation needed) was very good. Our favourites were the Grill specialities, Italian and the Japanese. We only went once to the Fusion restaurant. The service at the buffets & À la Carte restaurants was excellent. At All the eating locations the food is served/presented at the proper temperature (hot/cold). For a little extra sweet go to the Capuchino Café, were many different pastries, ice cream and coffees are served. The service at all the bars was excellent. The 3 pools were kept clean and the water was clear throughout the whole day. All public washrooms were kept clean. For the beautiful large beach area you have plenty of lounge chairs scattered between the many palm trees (no palapas). There was no towel game to reserve a lounge chair early in the morning. No matter at what time you came to the beach there was always free lounge chairs. There is an interlock pathway (approx. 100-150 feet from the ocean) connecting the 4 beachfront RIU hotels (Palace Punta Cana, Bambu, Palace Macao & Palace Bavaro). The location of the Riu Palace Macao is ideal for beach walkers. You can walk either way (East/West) for very long distances. The Beach is amazing, white sand and amazing blueish/green ocean water. For the gym & Spa services you must walk to the Palace Bavaro (approx. 10 min. walk). The guests were mostly from USA, Canada & Europe. This hotel is quiet, no loud music/noise at night. The average age of the guests is 50 years. The hard working hotel personnel are ALL wonderful, friendly & give you an excellent service with a smile from your check-in (Ana Maria for us) to your check-out. All employees always wore the mask. My spouse and I will definitely return to the RIU Palace Macao resort as we had a very relaxing vacation at this small Adult only resort.

Majestic Elegance…AMAZINGNESS!!
Our family just got back from this incredible resort and it was everything we had hoped for and so much more!! This was by far the nicest resort we've been to and we will definitely go again! The grounds were beautifully kept, the beach was pristine and the ocean was as turquoise as it gets…and warm!!! There was always something to do, the staff was genuinely thrilled to have guests there and they were always helpful, kind and entertaining! Our room was incredibly spacious, it fit the four of us perfectly, it was super clean and the beds were comfy! The pools were amazing too! They were clean and the water temperature was perfect! The foam party was a blast!! There was also a kids club where we dropped our kids off a couple times and they had tons of fun swimming, doing water slides, playing games and snacking! The wonderful ladies that worked in the kids club were fantastic and we were never worried about their safety in their care! There were lots of bars to get cold bevies along the resort and the options for drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) were endless!! The night entertainment and shows were very well done. The Michael Jackson show was incredibly impressive, we didn't want it to end! The food was also good, lots of options, the buffet had a good variety and the other restaurants had great ambiance and good food! The Italian and Steak restaurants were our favourites! But the view from the seafood restaurant beat them all!! You can't go wrong when you're overlooking the ocean! All in all…it was a fantastic holiday and we will 100% be going back!! Thank you for the amazing week away!! Our first holiday since covid was PERFECTION!!

Well Managed Resort
We booked a 10 day holiday at the adult section (El Beso) of the Ocean El Faro resort in Punta Cana DR. This resort is a very large and recently built (3-4 years old) complex comprising @ 16 separate 3 story buildings split into an adult section and family section. Each section has is own pools and snack bars although you can, in reality use any of the amenities. There is a main buffet (with separate adult and family seating) as well as 8 a la carte restaurants. There is also an adults only breakfast and lunch buffet near the opposite end (beach side) of the resort. Other features include Mikes coffee, a gym, spa and a store. The hotel is located along a remote section of beach @ 30 minutes from the Punta Cana airport. There is nothing within 2 kms either side of the resort so other than taking excursions from the hotel lobby you are essentially captive. Overall this is a well managed resort. Rooms were clean and well appointed, mini bar was restocked daily with water, soda and a few beers. The grounds, pools and outdoor areas were well maintained. Staff were pleasant, friendly and attentive. The main buffet was well stocked with a wide variety of food, changed up daily including lots of fruit, breads, hot and cold dishes and healthy choices, cereals, ready made omelets, pasta, pizzas, burgers, and other meat dishes. something for every taste. The snack bars near the pools featured nachos, hot dogs, occasional fired chicken or burgers and fries. A la carte restaurants were generally quite impressive. We were only disappointed once out of the 7 we tried. The Gym was small but functional with all equipment in good repair. Mikes coffee was great but often busy and featured anything you could get in an American chain plus a great selection of deserts. The smaller adults only buffet featured a nice selection of fresh foods daily, a nice ambiance, and quieter feel. The store had a wide variety of goods including pool toys, lotion, clothing snacks and liquid refreshments. Prices were predictably more expensive than you'd pay at home but not exorbitant. Service overall was good to excellent. we always had coffee offered in the morning at the buffet although sometimes we had to be patient as staff were fairly busy. service on the a la cartes was excellent. There was daily entertainment at 2 pools (family and adult) by the blue crew featuring events, water aerobics, games, water volleyball etc. If you prefer a quieter stay you could use another pool without entertainment. There were lounge chairs and a few shade umbrellas located around the pools but not enough for those that wanted one. Guests would deposit towels and personal items on chairs and reserve umbrellas. All umbrellas were reserved by @ 6:00 a.m. Most chairs were reserved by @ 10:00 a.m. There is some shade given by planted palm trees but not enough to satisfy demand. There was nightly entertainment, a disco, bowling lanes, kids activities, regular events and a sports bar, more than enough to keep you occupied. The beach was picturesque, however swimming in the ocean was limited by some rocky bottoms. The beach had lots of lounge chairs and woven palm tree type shade umbrellas. There was a nice onshore breeze daily which made the beach a cooler option on the hot days. Guests were mostly Canadian with the largest group being francophones from Quebec. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay
