I have been to Cuba over 15 times and Grand Sirenis was amazing. The food was good , staff amazing and cleanness all around . The people complaining about this resort should stay home and go eat at McDonald's. Thanks to Pedro public relations manager and all the staff because your are the best . Thanks Again !! We will be back soon !! James , Julie , Jonathan [Details]

We really enjoyed our stay here at Grand Sirenis. The resort is relatively new and has lots to offer. Great service from all staff, everyone is super attentive and works hard to ensure guests are satisfied. The hotel has a great beach with minimal waves. The pools were also clean and had lots of available chairs. Our room was clean and our fridge was also stocked daily. Great entertainment and drinks. Lobster was offered at some a la cartes during our stay. Looking forward to sharing our experience with more family and friends! [Details]

The outdoor restaurant by the beach needed a better menu my towels were never changed in my room

Great beach, good hotel, ok food, and lost mobile

As expected beach and water were amazing. Hotel is new and in good condition, clean and well maintained, green. Food is mediocre with limited selection/options, and mostly not well flavored.
The unpleasant highlight of the trip was the phone that disappeared from the washroom, and dispute apparent hotel administration to find it, it was not very efective and the phone was not found/returned.
Most reception staff was nice and helpful, but there was one lady that was very arogant and not helpful in addressing customer needs [Details]

10 days at Grand Sirenis
Nigel, Toronto, ON

My wife and I had a wonderful 10 days at Grand Sirenis, Cayo Santa Maria. I think going late January/early February was the perfect sweet spot post holidays pre March break, as the resort was reasonably quiet throughout our stay Weather was perfect, beach was amazing, staff were wonderful, and the room/resort was very well maintained, which is all we could have hoped for when looking for a relaxing, restful, stretch away from real life. The “downsides” I have heard in other reviews were blown out of proportion…
“The food was terrible/non-existent”. Many reviews said the food was terrible and that they ran out. We tended to go to breakfast and dinner only and around the midway point of service and they were always replenishing. Certainly, as you will find in all of Cuba, the food is not abundant and there is little variety, but we were always able to enjoy a good meal. If you want something specific that you can bring with you or you can't live without, especially if this is your first time to Cuba, bring it with you. “There were flys everywhere”. There are a lot of flys and mosquitos yes but they spray nightly and early A.M. You also have to understand that there is beach, developed resort space, and then jungle/swamp…it's an island! Bugs are going to be there, but the place was not overrun with them. I would say the only real issue at the hotel were fellow guests. People on holiday, drinking, can become obnoxious, rude, and vandalize, but this is no fault of the resort or the amazing staff If you want a late night dancing, you won't get it. Post dinner they have live music at the lobby bar and a show in the Theatre but by about 11pm the place is dead quiet unless you stay at the bar. That suited us just fine but it might not suit you The only other fault I could point out as being obvious but not a bother are some design flaws with the rooms. The bathroom is only a (non floor to ceiling) door separated from the rest of the room. The large walk-in shower has no fan which is going to cause them mold issues overtime.
Otherwise I would highly recommend Grand Sirenis, especially if you just want to relax in the sun [Details]

Gorgeous beach and seawater
Amazing staff
New, clean, well maintained resort and rooms
The weak points
Food is at Cuban standards which means not a lot of variety, but they do what they can
Lots of flys and mosquitos but they do spray nightly for bugs and you have to understand that the undeveloped spaces adjacent the resort are basically jungle
Sanitary measures (Covid-19)
Signs were up throughout the resort but not really applicable with masking measures and other covid protocols no longer in place

I have been to a few resorts in this area and this in my opinion is the best resort. The management and customer service members were very helpful and nice. They were always around if you need them. The staff were amazing, from clearing tables, having my drink ready for me without asking. After the first day they knew what I wanted and how. Very polite. The pool crew and grounds crew were always out cleaning every morning bright and early. There was always something to eat. I didn't go hungry. The entertainment crew always had something going on. Bingo by the pool, dancing on the beach, beach parties, volleyball. There was something for everyone. I was very happy with my stay here. I highly recommend and I will be returning for sure. Not so Typical Cuba

My boyfriend and I stayed for a week in January 2023 for my birthday. The Ala cartes we were told were full the first 3 days we were there but we actually managed to get in one night and it was far from it. There was a ton of space. The Buffet was very poorly laid out and people were running all over the place back and forth to get their food. In addition, it was filthy and staff were using the bottom of carts to bring food out so it was near the floor and brushing up against the crowds. One night the exhaust fan broke down and smoke filled the whole area. There was also only one entrance and exit available all emergency exits were blocked on the outside by tables and chairs creating an unsafe environment. The ala carte restaurants were not positive experiences either, the settings not overly nice and the food was limited and boring even for Cuba. The service was poor. The staff would come and clear a table, walk right past and not offer service and we are good tippers! The maid staff were also hit and miss, twice we did not receive clean glasses, mugs in our room nor coffee and when requested took longer than 3 hours to arrive. When I called back they questioned me and told me the maid had given us fresh supplies which she did not and once she arrived, she brought one coffee pod. There were East and West pools, but the bathrooms at the East pool were not functional and were locked and the closest bathroom, near the stage, was covered in fesces and had not toilet paper they were disgusting. This was not just one occasion, my spouse tried them the day after I did and they were disgusting both men and women's toilets. The beach was great, as was our room, but I would not recommend this hotel [Details]

NOT a 5 star at all - worse vacation ever
Nicole Zupan, Toronto, ON

SHAMEFUL - Dirty all around, bathrooms, dishes, utensils, placemats, often waiting for plates, food well it's Cuba but worse than ever experienced, wait times at buffet grill stations 20-45mns - people walked away and we even ate off resort twice out of frustration, bathrooms outside of room never replenished with toilet paper, most times NONE and never any soap, same beach towels for 5 days, My review doesn't even come close to how disappointed we were and my BF and daughter have been to Cuba 9 times and have said will never return again. This is closer to 2.5 to a 3 star at best !!! [Details]

The weak points
Dirty and managers don't care - no common food staples for kids who are fussy - fries (scarce), burgers, macaroni/pasta (scarce), pizza
Sanitary measures (Covid-19)
None cause dirty and no soap when go to bathroom - better bring your own soap or hand sanitizer or can make it, go to your hotel room bathroom

Very new and clean resort, friendly staff, always eager to ensure comfort for guests. I would recommend this to anyone even if not sure about visiting Cuba. Very good manager, checks everything herself, always on the go, always standing to monitor everyone and checks to make sure there is no dust on tables or chairs. When there was no electricity or water on one day, she was there to have alternate arrangements for food etc. [Details]

Cuba fun
Herman's, Carleton Place, ON

First visit to Cuba but have travelled tons down south. Extremely impressed w this new resort. Clean and bright with modern decor. Not too big that everything is easy to get to, with two large pools and a children's pool. Many access points to the beach. Resort only had approx 100 people at beginning of last week and half full towards the end of the week. Almost everything is up and running. Main buffet for breakfast and supper with barbecue near beach or snack buffet area for lunch. Swim up bar at pool and chair side drink service at both pool and beach. Staff will bring lounge chair to where you want to sit, they clean off the sand and lay out your towel. Beach has a lot of shells so shoes for beach vollleyball and soccer might be an idea (11 yr old cut foot pretty bad). Watersports like kayaking (dbl/single), peddleboats, windsurfing and they will even take you around on hobie cat. Rooms are big and open concept - waterfall shower directly in middle of room. Hot water entire week. You get bottled water, beer and pop in mini bar. Water in resort is bottled so okay to drink at meals and bars. Food was good, not massive buffets but they have fresh omelette, pancake and waffle stations, fresh meats (chicken, pork and beef plus approx 4 types of fish to cook on grill directly in front of you for dinner and lunch). Great tennis and basketball courts - only dissapointment was one ball and it took us a few days to track it down, no tennis equipment yet, maybe bring your own. The entertainment staff was great and very attentive (Richie, Elvis and Alejandro), they go above and beyond even playing basketball w my 11/15 yr old boys after working all day. They are on the beach in the mornings and around the pool in the afternoon. Drinks and specialty coffees were great at pool bars, beach bar and lounge bar - recommend bringing drink containers - cups they provide are pretty small. You can exchange Cnd money directly at hotel or airport. Bus ride to resort offers beer for 2.00 in pesos or cnd. Remember you can't leave Cuba w peso's. you will need to exchange back at airport. Limited shopping at resort but neighbouring resort has small street market that has different vendors daily for souvenirs. Had a great time in Cuba and at this resort, will definitely go back.
