First time in Cayo Coco

Me and my mom came to stay at the resort and had a wonderful time. The staff were incredible, very friendly and those who spoke English were happy to chat with us. The food was good for cuba with Jerome at the crepe station making delicious banana crepes and the guy at the pasta bar and meat grill (didn't get their names) also being exceptional and definitely making the best food at lunch and dinner. We had some amazing waiters/waitresses in the dining room and lobby bar named Jorge, Rolando, Osvaldo, Dailin and many more whos names we couldn't get. The room was good with no issues, I would just recommend you bring an adapter for the outlets (without one it works but the blocks don't stay tightly in the outlets as they are the wrong fit). The best part of the whole resort is the incredible beach. Every time you step foot onto the beach it feels like you are stepping into a windows background thats how amazing it is. Overall highly recommend and definitely the best resort I have been to in cuba. [Details]

The strong points
The strong points are the excellent staff, the incredible beaches, and good food.
The weak points
The wifi was a bit fidgety when we first arrived and you have to refill it every 5 hours but besides that it worked. I also wouldn't recommend anything but the fries and pizza at the snack bar and honestly would just stick to the main buffet.

The had sanitizer at the entrance to all restaurants and in the lobby and the staff were great with wiping down surfaces.

Your recommendation on the types of adapters that can be used in our installation is very good; it will be very useful for future visitors. Expect that we will be taking care of our wonderful beach so that it continues to be that magical place that all our visitors love. Once again, I thank you for everything and for your recommendation. I also would like you to know Wi-Fi is a service offered by the national telecommunications company; unfortunately, sometimes there are problems with it that affect the connectivity, not only in our hotel but in all of the area, also on rainy and windy days connectivity also slows down. On the other hand, I would like to tell you that on our guests arrival we offer them a Wi-Fi username and password with five hours, but customers can recharge this account every time it runs out. Count on the fact that while there is any threat of contagion by Covid, our hotel will maintain strict measures to prevent the health of visitors and workers from being affected. The strong points
Melia Cayo Coco is a beautiful resort with a lot to offer. There is easy access to the beautiful beach and plenty seating located all around the resort. The staff are super friendly and will chat with you about anything.
The weak points
The wifi was inaccessible at some points and not many people under the age of 25.

Really nice resort

Cuba has been an amazing relaxing fun experience for myself and my boyfriend at Melia Cayo Coco. The staff were welcoming and friendly always offering a drink and making sure we are taken care of. The resort itself is beautiful the pool is well maintained the rooms are clean and amenities are well kept. The bartenders and servers were always helpful and remembered our drinks. The entertainment was awesome! The dancers were friendly and fun even stayed back late one night for a private party and drinks (on stage) with a few guests. Learned how to dance from the DJ and dancers taught us step by step. The excursions were fun too really enjoyed horseback riding, learning how to roll cigars and the catamaran. Would definitely recommend Melia Cayo Coco and will definitely return! :) [Details]

While we have been to Cuba many times over the years this is the first time to an adults only resort. Also the first time since March 2020. This resort is fantastic!. We returned again to the Melia Cayo Coco , staying on the Lagoon . We had such a relaxing week ! It was great to be able to enjoy breakfast again at Las Caletas , something we really missed during our September trip . Lunch at the Beach BBQ was always a special event with great music , food and service ! The grilled lobster on Cuban Day was so delicious !
We always enjoyed our Spanish Coffee at the Snack Bar in the late afternoon ! I took part in a painting class on the beach and I have framed my artistic beach view !
We also were able to visit the mainland and had the privilege of bringing a NJT suitcase of much needed Medical Supplies to the Consultorio in Isla De Turiguano . [Details]

This was my 5th trip to Cuba and 2nd time to Melia Cayo Coco ( more than 20 years ago) .
Fabulous vacation- exceeded our expectations!!!!
Although the guest rooms are a little tired the rooms were clean and beds very comfortable!
Staff do an amazing job following Covid protocol- public washrooms we're the cleanest I've ever seen !!!
Food was the best I've had in Cuba - with many tasty selections!!!!
Wonderful entertainment- especially enjoyed the afternoon poolside saxophonist and flutist- so relaxing!!! As well the evening entertainment in the lobby, the dance team and the Rock Band was exceptional!!!!!
Amazing beach with many chairs - however very frustrating to see guests saving chairs poolside ( as shade difficult to find) and not using them for many hours !!! Maybe staff could remove guests belongings if they are not using sun beds/loungers for an extended period.
Nice to have free Wifi too !!
So nice to be greeted by the hotel manager upon arrival as well!

On the other hand, I would like you to know that our hotel is one of the oldest in the area, and it is true that our standard section is in need of renovation and we are focused on that. We have been able to renovate 35 classic rooms and right now, we are renovating block 77 until we finish with the renovation of all the standard rooms. In any case, regarding the work of the staff, it is good to know that you were able to appreciate the cleanliness and comfort of the room. Our staff is our greatest strength, always willing, friendly and helpful. We will continue to comply with the necessary measures to avoid covid and preserve the health of customers and workers. We know that many of our visitors reserve the sunbeds around the pool, even when there are signs that prohibit it. First trip to Cuba

We came to Melia Cayo Coco as a group of 10. Most of our group was mid 20s - mid 30s and we noticed the majority of the resort was an older crowd. It was very fun and relaxing, however if you're looking to party it was a little dull. The food was excellent and the customer service was wonderful 90% of the time. Excellent Cuban Resort

I travelled to Melia Cayo Coco in late February with my girlfriend and another couple and we were very happy with the resort amenities and staff. We stayed in the Lagoon suites, which were nicely furnished with beautiful views nestled in the shoreline of the lagoon.

The beach was beautiful with plenty of chairs and shade available daily and the sand was always nicely manicured. There were daily activities available like beach volleyball and ring toss to keep you entertained if you'd like to put down the book for a few minutes. The various restaurants and buffets all had a great variety of food options and didn't have a bad meal during my stay.

The number one thing I need to highlight about our experience is the warm, friendly staff and the quality of service we received. Every staff member on the resort made such an effort to greet us and made sure we had everything we needed. We always felt extremely well taken care of and safe on the resort.

There is a doctor's office onsite at the resort which was such a HUGE help when my girlfriend got a particularly bad case of heat stroke. When she fell ill called reception to get the doctor and Yunismy in customer service was so responsive and kind in coordinating with the doctor and assisting in the situation. Dr. Guirola and nurse Diedra came to our room very quickly and restored my girlfriend to good health within hours, staying by her side the whole time and explaining every step they took. We are so incredibly grateful for the amazing care and kindness we received from all but Yunismy, Dr. Guirola, and Diedra in particular. Thank you so much!

It was unfortunate my girlfriend experienced heat stroke during our stay but I want to stress it had nothing to do with the resort. If there is anything to take away from our experience please be assured there is very responsive, friendly, and skilled medical care a phone call or short walk away if needed at this resort.

Amazing Vacation!

This was my first time staying at Melia Cayo Coco and it was an amazing vacation! I felt a warm welcome since stepping off of the plane. There were still COVID-19 protocols in place when it came to speaking at the front desk, going to the buffet, etc. This was my first time since the pandemic started and having these measures in place made me feel safe and comfortable. The rooms were cleaned every day with great service, the food was amazing, full of flavor in both the buffet, beach, and the restaurants. The front desk was always willing to accommodate any concerns or problems. Live music and performances were available each night. The beach was beautiful and sandy. There was always staff available for any needs or concerns whether in my room, the beach. pool or lobby.

Great second visit to Melia Cayo Coco

Second time to this great hotel on an incredible beach. First was christmas 2019 just before covid. Adults Only is a big part of why we chose it, and it is a smaller resort with great food and great staff. There were some issues with the sliding door locks in our original room and they switched it immediately no problem. Internet was good for Cuba - its not Rogers high speed so set your expectations appropriately. The hotel manager met our bus on arrival and was around and available. Our star ratings below are "Cuban" rating - not implying it is a 5 star hotel like you find in New York........ so 5 stars here means best you will find in Cuba [Details]

well it was so good, i had to return! the staff is amazing, the hotel is small, about 250 rooms, quite, adult only resort with24 hour lobby bar, and beach bar has 24 hour food and drinks as well. short walk from anywhere on this resort , beautiful gardens and staff is always present, food was great, we could not serve ourselves because of covid .that was fine, i like the fact that the staff only one touching utensils . this place was very clean, there was handsanitizer all over the resort ,the entire staff was masked at all time. A Good Hotel

My first visit October 17-30/21 was so good I decided to return for 3 weeks. On check-in the Maldivian-style over-lagoon rooms were on special upgrade so I leaped. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Balconies large. Staff is wonderful, kind, helpful. Food is delicious and varied. Many have worked there since the Melia opened 22years ago. This is an obviously well managed hotel. The fine white sand beach is magnificent.
One can walk for almost 2 miles either north or south. Snorkelling off the beach is mildly interesting but few fish ( lion fish, barracuda, small rays, grunts, an odd butterflyfish, needlefish, baby damsels, etc). None dangerous for us. No nasty Portuguese Men-of-War of the Havana, Jibacoa beaches.
The snorkelling offshore in the great reef is supposed to be good. A few mosquitos on non- windy days. Especially at the Ranchon a-la-carte in the evening. The large perfectly cooked
(16$US supplement ) lobster were a delicious
bargain. Certainly large enough to feed 2. Masking is obligatory in all Cuba indoors and in
the streets of Cuba, outside as well. Take lots of US $ as tips. Make sure your paper money has no rips, tears, missing corners. Foreign banks won't accept them.Don't give loonies or toonies. Foreign Coins are useless in exchange offices abroad. Staff is nice without your tip. But the average Cuban needs money since the US stranglehold and ( illegal) blockade has gotten much worse under Biden. Suggested gifts for Cubans, canned fish, meat, dental hygiene products, school and art supplies for kids, toys, teddy bears, chocolate, powdered milk, soap, shampoo, skin creams, etc.
The hotel has excellent free wifi everywhere. You are given your own account info -user name, password , in 5 hr blocks renewable as needed.
The Hop-On Hop-Off 5$US / person Bus Tour to Playa Pilar on Cayo Guillermo is fun. Car rental to explore Paredon Grande, Cayos Cruz, Coco and Guillermo as well as the mainland such as Camagüey and Ciego de Avila -quite attractive pedestrianized restored , downtown.
The C-19 PCR -30$US or rapid test - 25$US are easily done by the hotel's resident MD and RN. [Details]

Melia Cayo Coco - Wow Factor Again!!!

We spent a week at the Melia Cayo Coco in mid January/2022 and once again the Melia exceeded our expectations. We have travelled quite extensively across the Caribbean including trips to Jamaica with stays at Ocho Rios, Negril, Montego Bay and Runaway Bay. Many trips to Dominican with stays at Punta Cana and Samana. Trips to Mexico include Cozumel, Cancun, Mayan Riviera, Ixtapa, Cabo San Lucas, Huatulco and Puerto Vallarta. We have always stayed at 4.5/5 star resorts and none of our stays can compete with the last 2 stays at the Melia Cayo Coco.

The Melia does an incredible job dealing with the Covid concerns and we felt safer there than at home. Staff were continually cleaning and always wearing masks. The pre-departure Covid test at the Hotel was very organized with no issues.

The hotel staff work tirelessly to keep all guests happy and offer great service at all times. Rooms are immaculate as are the grounds and beach.

The food is as good as you will get anywhere in a Caribbean resort. From the buffet to the Al La Carte restaurants, it is very good quality and again with excellent service from happy, smiling staff.

The Billiard Bar is a great place for a late afternoon or evening drink and you can enjoy a pool game at same time. The outdoor deck looks out across the lagoon and is a nice place to enjoy the sunsets with a cool one.

There are countless safe excursions to book if you like that sort of thing. The beach is as good as most anywhere and compares equally with the Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana or possibly better.

Did not encounter a single mosquito or have any bug issues on our entire trip. Room was spotless and the A/C worked perfectly with hot water in abundance.

Although all staff are excellent, we would like to give special mention to the following:
Gippsy (Sales Manager) - she is excellent when it comes to answering questions/ emails and she was instrumental with us getting a requested room.
Yanelis (Pool Bar) - Cannot say enough about her. She has such a pleasant personality and offers great service along with her wonderful smile.
Yolmar (Billiard Bar) - always a smile and always remembered your favorite drink.
Beatriz (Buffet) - amazing how she can remember you, your favorite coffee and good at jokes as well.
Entertainment Staff we interacted with included Yaneisy (Chocolate Momma), Chino & Yelena. They were all great and had lots of patience with answering questions and kept us entertained with pool side games.

Very Relaxing Vacation

This adult only resort is the perfect vacation for solo, friends, couples. One would be hard pressed to have a more relaxing time with a beautiful beach, wonderful staff, delicious food, good accommodation from garden view to bungalows on the lagoon. Dancers and Singers for evening entertainment were very good. COVID was dealt with in a very professional and medical manner if it did show up so spread was very well contained. It is definitely a resort I will be visiting again; especially to get relief from the Canadian deep freeze winter. The only improvement I would suggest is somehow enable wifi access in the room ... this was not a problem for those with mobile phones but those of us only with a tablet had to go to the lobby to access wifi; not a major problem as one is not on vacation to be on the wifi.
