Safe Covid escape in Paradise

This was our second visit to Melia Cayo Coco. We tried it in October 2020 and fell in love with the resort. My husband refused to consider any other hotel and chose Melia Cayo Coco to spend our Christmas 2020. This was not just ‘a trip' for us but a lifelong dream of my husband to spend a Christmas down South. Thank you Melia Cayo Coco for making this trip so special.
It was an excellent stay with great food, exceptional service and quality accommodations. We will return to this hotel.
Safety: We had a PCR test at the airport. At the hotel, the staff is constantly disinfecting, washing their hands and wearing their masks all the time. Furniture is placed to respect distancing and hotel is at reduced capacity. Mask wearing is required to get food at the buffet. Employees are serving food, or it is presented in individual portions. There is staff watching the buffet and enforcing mask wearing. I felt very safe. Staff do their part but we guests have to do ours as well.
Rooms: We were in the Lagoon rooms Sunset views and we loved it. I had a large outdoor balcony with a sweeping view of the lagoon. Sunsets were unbelievable. Room was large, clean, with coffee & tea maker, a fridge, a safe, shower & bathroom area separated from the sink. Walking to and from my room, admiring the lagoon, looking at the fishes and little medusas, was a delight each time and very relaxing.
Food: We find the food exceeds our expectations at this resort. We are in a pandemic so the A la carte restaurants were not all opened at the same time, and some nights it was only the buffet available. This resort is not a cheap resort but you get the quality you pay for. Compared to other resorts in Cayo Coco, there was much more fresh fruits and vegetables here and cuts of meat were of higher quality.
Lunch: often served at the beach restaurant buffet form, with a band every day. When it got a bit cold or windy for 3-4 days, lunch was served at the inside buffet. If you get tired of the buffet, the snack bar makes hamburgers, sandwiches, pizzas, fries, and serves some desserts.
Breakfast was at the buffet, there were always egg & omelette sections and often a pancake/banana foster station. I often found smoked salmon available as well as selection of cheeses and cold cuts, as well as all breakfast items you are used to.
Dinner buffet: plentiful with a grill section and a pasta section, a roasted piece of meat every night. We really enjoyed the buffet. There were sea food options at the grill every night.
Restaurants: we enjoyed all the restaurants. The Cuban is near the beach and can get very windy but food was really tasty. International & Mediterranean served enough options that we did not get bored. My husband tried a Chef special (ox tail stew) and found it delicious.
Birthday meal: My husband had arranged for a special dinner for my birthday, which was hosted around the pool (as other locations were windy that night). It was a surprise dinner and I was not aware. While I was lounging at the pool I saw the staff cleaning the palapas that were to be used later for the dinner. There was a server just for us and some romantic music. My meal was Sea food galore: delicious smoked salmon entrée, warm and tasty sea food bisque and a very creamy Lobster Thermidor as a main. Everything was great and hot and the setting felt intimate. I really feel the staff goes out of their way to make these occasions special.
Christmas buffet: it was impressive. Lots of seafood available, roasted turkey, ham and pork, they really went all out to offer special salads and appetizers, and the desserts were works of art. It was one of the best buffet meal I've ever had.
Pool: not too big but an organic shape with quality accommodations: bali beds, little alcoves near a little lagoon where you can see little fishes and two tortoises, every spot respecting distancing.
Beach: is beautiful and swept for seaweeds every day. Plenty of palapas – I could always be two palapas away from any other person.
Drinks: Drinks were great. When you ask for a cocktail you get the same cocktail each time. Although options at the pool and beach bar are not as plentiful, their drinks were well balanced. No cheap juices made from powder. No white slushes called ‘pina colada'. I enjoyed the Spanish coffee most of all. My husband does not drink alcohol and enjoyed Banana mamas & Pina coladas sin rum. Once more, you pay for quality.
The staff: They make this place special. We've been to tens of other resorts and never really connected with staff. Here, we were treated warmly, like friends. Although staff were wearing masks, you could see their smiles in their eyes.

Gipsy: although we did not meet her, she made sure of our well being and checked on us from afar many times. She really cares about the satisfaction of the customers.
Niurka greeted us personally at arrival and checked with us every day. She answered all our questions and took time to tell us about the situation outside of the resort. She was charming and helped us better understand the Cuban culture. She made sure we had a special stay.
General manager Juan could be seen all over the resort, constantly checking on everything. He was checking on the employees, visiting all the restaurants, supervising renovation work, greeting new arrivals – this resort is well-managed and you can see why by watching Juan.
Yunismy at client services was extremely attentive to our needs and made sure I had wine waiting for me at arrival and a bottle of cava for my birthday. Even when she was not at the resort she checked on us, and made sure to greet us everyday she was at work. She made us feel special and we miss her smile. She helped my husband organize the surprise birthday dinner.
Kennier at client services is such a gentleman and checked on us daily as well. He took the time to answer some questions we had and talked to us every time he was at work. It was fun to see him waive and come to us to make sure we were happy because he is so warm & friendly.
Maite from the entertainment team was a delight. Her positive energy was contagious and following the yoga classes, we spoke about spirituality and she helped me get motivated to pursue yoga at home. As well, she taught me some mambo and told me about some history of Cuban dance. I really enjoyed her positive energy.
Aniuska from the entertainment team helped me work on my hips while practicing salsa. She is warm and attentive, and the lady can dance something fierce! Her sense of humour is very sharp.
Servers: Yarima always had a smile and a joke for us. We often sat in her section just to get to say hi.
Anysbel?? Recognized us from our last visit and made sure to speak to us in French. I swear I could see her smile under the mask. Victor as well made sure to speak to us in French and enquired after our well being at each meal he served us.
Bartenders/Servers: Yamil is very funny and I enjoyed watching his antics as my husband and him were teasing each other over ‘Despacito'. He brought us drinks and a laugh!
Osvaldo we remembered from a special dinner we had last time and he was our server. I always enjoy asking him to surprise me with a new drink. He's the one who introduced me to the Brandy Alexander cocktail!
Quick mention to Noel, Jorge, Angel, Joel (or Yoel?) & Abel as well, thank you for a great service!
We are already planning our next stay. We feel so safe in this region of Cuba, with their optimal health system and the care & precautions taken by the staff of the Melia Cayo Coco, that we will come back even if Covid is still active. [Details]

Vacances inoubliables du 14 décembre 2020 au 4 janvier 2021 Distributeur de désinfectant partout sur le site. Médecin et infirmière qui font la prise de notre température à tous les jours. Tous les employés portent le masque en tout temps.
Toutes les précautions ont étés prises contre la COVID du début à la fin de mes vacances.
Buffet : Excellent choix. On pointe la nourriture que l'on veut et ils nous servent.
Restaurants à la carte : Le service est attentionné et la nourriture excellente.
Souper à la plage et à la piscine : Bravo à toute l'équipe qui a organisé ces merveilleux soupers. Au-delà de mes attentes. Merci.
Animation : Son Del Rio excellent groupe qui nous divertit avec leur musique. C'est le party garantit. Les danseurs et l'équipe de l'animation font un très bon travail. Bravo Edelier.
Service : Bar, buffet ou les restaurants, le personnel est toujours souriant, aimable et s'assure que nous ne manquions de rien.
Entretien plage piscine : Carlos (Carlito) qui désinfecte nos chaises pour plus de sécurité.
Entretien général : Bravo aux jardiniers, femmes de ménage (chambre, salle de bain etc.) qui font un excellent travail pour que le MCC soit un endroit d'une propreté impeccable.

What a nice vacation!

I travelled alone and met 2 other solo travellers in line to check in. We pretty much spent the week together. The service here is second to none. I've been to butler service resorts and this place can keep up. The food was good. I'm not picky. The seafood was excellent and always a wide variety. I had an updated room and it was kept super clean. Very comfortable beds and pillows. AC worked perfect. Customer service here was fantastic. They looked after any request immediately. Kennier (custommer service) and Aniuska (yoga/entertainment team) and Tamara (bar/bookings) went above and beyond. The manager at this hotel is literally everywhere making sure things are #1. I've never encountered such a hands-on, involved and professional manager. The grounds are beautiful and if you mention that a light bulb is out on the path, they immediately ensure all burned out light bulbs are replaced. The staff everywhere are so wonderful. The staff here are so helpful. You feel at home at this resort. Very relaxing. Great evening entertainment where the animation staff actually engage with guests.

I wish there was drink service on the beach. No big deal though because the walking exercise allowed me to indulge all week without gaining an ounce.

Amazing Resort

I travelled with my wife, and my daughter to Cayo Coco, and we stayed in Melia Cayo Coco for a week. When we arrived at our hotel we were greeted by all of the staff, music and dancers. We were overwhelmed by their sincerity and friendliness and this continued for the whole of our stay.

The hotel is excellent. Lobby bar is fabulous and all the drinks were good, nice to have well made cocktails.
Hotel is beautiful and well kept.
Cleaners and gardeners all are so friendly and excellent at their jobs.

Food was very good, so much choice in buffet and the staff in restaurant is lovely. A-la-carte restaurants (twice a week) are all good too.

Evening entertainment was very good. Different shows each evening at 9:30, every night.

The beach was nice and only a very short walk from the hotel's room, also we could even eat at the Beach grill .

I want to thank the hotel and staff for its amazing hospitality and personalized service; specially the customer service and entertainment staff, the best by far, even during this pandemic the staff worked so hard. All the staff wore masks and there was sanitizer dispensers all over

We have recently returned home from a two week vacation in paradise. The Melia Cayo Coco in Cuba. We were fortunate enough to stay in one of their suites looking over the Lagoon, absolutely stunning. As is the breathtaking beach. The whole resort is very nice just needs a little TLC after the storm which maintenance is working hard at.
The staff is amazing all of them. So happy, friendly, helpful and just go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The entertainment is great, always wanting you to participate whether it be yoga, aquasize or dancing after the nightly shows, which are incredible.
The food could be a little warmer but all in all very good. They have 3 a la cartes, International, Mediterranean and Cuban which are very good.
I would highly recommend you book your beautiful get away with the Melia in Cayo Coco.

We have visited this wonderful hotel compund from 15-22 November and we want to congratulate Manager Juan and his crew on an excellent conditions provided for a week of full enjoyment and satisfaction. We have been impressed by professional work of hotel staff - from clean facilities, food etc. to services provided everything functioned so well that it was a real pleasure being there. Some of the staff impressed us immensely, like waiters Nayma, Osvaldo and Tamara, cleaning lady Lisyen, Felix at reception desk and every single employee was so friendly and helpful that we were enjoying every single second in this fascinating hotel compound. 110% Satisfaction (and Safety) @ Melia Cayo Coco

We have recently returned from our 5th visit to the Melia Cayo Coco - a week in our true paradise!
Because of the drastic changes in the travel world due to the CoVid situation, we were a little hesitant as we began our journey. We had been following the reports through Facebook and the news, but information can be confusing. However, immediately upon our arrival in Cuba, all our concerns were put to rest as we observed the protocols and attention to every detail taken by the Cuban staff.
Known for moving people efficiently, the (masked) airport staff had us through the temperature checks; hand sanitizers; CoVid rapid test (two nasal and 1 cheek swab – printed results in 24 hours); Customs; sanitized baggage pickup and onto the buses. The entire flight was processed in less than an hour. The MCC is close – “ a one beer trip”! There, another temperature check; hand sanitizer; welcome from the (masked) management & (masked) dancers and instructions for the changes in procedures because of the new safety protocols. These included the wearing of masks when attending the food area of the buffet or dealing directly with the staff face-to-face; sanitizing your hands as often as possible (dispensers are all over the Resort) and beach towel exchanges done daily in the rooms.
On site, the sanitizing requirements and safety precautions were evident at all times. At the restaurants and bars, the tables were cleaned and sprayed the moment you left and often again as the new guests sat down. All buffet food was served by gloved and masked staff so there was no shared contact with serving utensils. Portions of certain items, like appetizers or desserts were arranged in individual serving dishes for you to select as much or little as you wanted. The bathrooms were immaculate (the chlorine scent confirmed the constant care!). Public areas, like the Lobby and building stairs, were washed and wiped down constantly. The beach beds were collected and sanitized, then brought out individually, as needed. A Doctor and nurse are on site 24/7 and everyone's temperature was taken every single day. All workers have to test negative on a CoVid test before arriving at the Resort. Once there, they work a two week rotation (working fourteen-sixteen hour days); staying just off-site, away from their families and homes for the duration of their rotation.
I cannot say enough about the staff. Running the property with 100 guests and a reduced labor force , you would think something would be lacking. Not at MCC….they all worked twice as hard, often doing “double duty”. Expect to see your breakfast waiter later serving drinks at the bar or the Resort Manager helping serve a guest at the Beach Grill! No detail forgotten, no service too small. And always with a cheerful “Hola!” and a smile. (My husband and I began to refer to them as the “A Team”, because they were first class all the way!)
Food is always a bit subjective but we felt there was absolutely no lack of quality, volume or variety! Everything we had enjoyed during previous visits was there – in the Buffet, the pasta, fresh grill, omelet, carving, dessert and ice cream stations were all up and running! Same can be said about the quality and variety at the pool and beach restaurants for lunch. One small change was the availability of the a-la-carte restaurants – they were open for two evenings and staff was divided between them for service.
The only places where the effects of the pandemic, combined with the existing embargoes was evident was related to some building and grounds maintenance. Building materials and paint are still in short supply, so a few structures are showing a bit of “wear ‘n tear” after being hit repeatedly with the tropical storms in the last few months. Reduced staffing reflected in a few areas of the resort where the usually pristine grounds await the return of the full gardening staff. Also, because of travel restrictions, some of the usual lobby entertainment and Cuban bands was not possible, but the Entertainment Team/Dancers provided lots of energy and a nightly evening show – one being held on the Beach, which was a blast!!!
Take note of the currency changes – they are phasing out the two tier structure. They CANNOT use the Canadian coins, so either convert to the CUC's at the desk or, better, bring US $1 dollar bills for tipping. Please note that you need a credit card (MasterCard or Visa) to purchase hotel services like Internet cards, any excursions, souvenirs or alcohol and tobacco products.
We would go right back “in a heartbeat”! The things that matter – service, beach, good food, ambiance, safety– are all there…110%. I would love to list all 150 people who came together to make our visit the wonderful experience we so happily anticipate the moment we set foot on the resort!! But a special “Thank You!” and “Tip of the Hat” to Juan Pereira (General Manager), Gyppsy and Yuismy (Customer Service Stars), Yamil, Tamera, Joel, Jorge, Idolina, Yanima, Yordanka (service staff) and Saily (airline representative)!!!. Our deepest thanks to every one of them (and ALL the staff) for their hard work and dedication!
If you can go – please do. We felt safer at the MCC in Cuba than we do taking a trip to our local grocery store. The Cubans need our support and we need their smiles and sunshine! [Details]

Amazing getaway

General Overview

Cuba is one of my favorite countries in the world. I try to visit Cuba every year. I had been to Cayo Coco before and I loved the beaches and resorts.
This time I decided to stay at Melià Cayo Coco for the first time and I was impressed by the hospitality, warmth, attention to guests by the staff at the resort. We were welcomed like family and every single employee at Melià Cayo Coco went extra miles to make our stay the most memorable and enjoyable.
The resort is gorgeous, same as the beach. There were not too many people at the resort because of the pandemic but for some of us it was even better. We (the group of wonderful people I met at the resort) had entertainment right there, danced our heart away every night. It was such a great time no words can explain. Also, there's opportunity to go on tours like Catamaran, which was the best Catamaran tour I have ever been too. Everyone had a blast!
The rooms at the resort have been recently renovated and look very neat and cozy. There are 4 restaurants at the resort (2 a la carte and 2 buffets). The variety of dishes is surprising. One can order delicious lobsters for some extra money. The staff at the restaurant is super friendly and attentive.

Upon arrival at the airport you will be tested for Covid-19. All the bags and luggage are being sanitized. It's mandatory to wear a mask upon arrival at the resort and also sanitize your hands.
The test is absolutely safe and the results are ready the following morning. Until the results are ready you will have to wear a mask in all public places at the resort especially restaurants. You'll be able to go out and enjoy all the facilities at the resort. No problem! The beach has no restrictions at all. One can enjoy it all day long.

Currency Exchange and TIPS

Due to Covid-19, they do not accept cash at the resort. You will have to pay for extra services by debit/credit card so please don't bring a lot of cash with you but for tips. Tipping is very important. You can either exchange some Canadian dollars at the bank in the airport for pesos but remember there's no currency exchange at the resorts at this time due to Covid. You will have to use your banking card to pay for all extra services like mini bar, Internet, tours, gift shops etc. The best tipping suggestion is to either pay in $1USD, $5CAD or Cuban pesos (no Canadian/US coins). Cubans didn't have a chance to work for 7 months due to Covid so your tips are very important.
Once again, I had outstanding vacation at Meliá Cayo Coco and I highly recommend this resort to everyone. I will be definitely coming back.

My wife and I visited Melia Cayo Coco from october 10th to October 17th 2020...
In a few words, it was like our first time in Cuba! (after some 20 trips) : fantastic, existing, pleasant! This was our first trip after 7 months of lockdown and uncertainty!
Of course we had doubts before making the decision to go, but it absolutely worth it!
We cleared our thoughts of day-to-day worries, improved our health, and had a wonderful time!
And it turns out, the airport and flight had safety precautions and sanitation spots everywere, you get a covid test in Cayo Coco airport upon arrival, your negative result is confirmed the next day and you can relax 100%!
So, Melia Cayo Coco is open, fully functional and the staff is exceptional!
As the manager of the resort, Nuirka told us, "you snap your fingers and tell us what you wish and we'll deliver immidietly!"
The food was also incredible, especially the lunch buffet and grill near the ocean. Both breakfast and dinners were served "a la cart"! The chefs were so great and attantive to every ones tastes!
Lets not forget the bars, they were first class - signature cocktails made right in front of you with fresh ingredients! I am still making mojitos at home now!

Five Star Hands Down!

We were fortunate enough to stay at the Melia Cayo Coco in October 2020, during COVID-19 pandemic. The staff were absolutely phenomenal and treated us like we were VIP from start to finish. This 5-star resort is very well maintained and hygiene was an obvious priority. The beach and pool are terrific for relaxing, for snorkeling we hired one of the catamarans for $25 CAD to go snorkel the reef and I highly recommend doing so! We saw dozens of different breed of fish and a nurse shark!! So cool. The food and drinks were great. We travel to Cuba annually and the fodd at the Melia is by far the tastiest food we have enjoyed. The gentleman at the vehicle rental booth was amazing and we were so glad that we rented a scooter to get out and see the sites of the island on our own schedule.

Niurka the manager was incredible and made sure that we were enjoying our stay by checking in almost daily. Pedro the server/bartender and the lobby bartender Gheny kept us hydrated and satiated at all times. The entire team was great but we didn't catch everyone's names.

Our Second Home

Well, we went back to Melia Cayo Coco, Cuba again and to say that it was the best trip yet would be an understatement. This was our third time vacationing at the Melia Cayo Coco resort and I could not have been happier.

We arrived early evening and were checked in right away. A nice glass of sparkling white wine to greet us while got our room key card. The front desk staff are so nice and very accommodating.

We were driven to our room, which was newly renovated. Very nicely done and a fantastic view of the ocean. The room was very clean and decorated well. Very cozy.

Once changed we headed off the the buffet before it closed and met with staff with hugs and kisses. They truly remember the guess that return and treat you like royalty. Even though we were late getting to the buffet, the food was hot and there was such a variety to choose from. We never had to worry about the food...except on what to eat.

The evening entertainment was absolutely amazing. Such professionals in everything they did. From the singing to the dancing. The entertainment staff are the best. Yinet and Maite are so much fun, you can't help but get up and dance.

The resort was being updated a lot. Everything was looking absolutely fabulous. This place is just so beautiful. With the amazing grounds keepers doing there magic, they make the place look like a true paradise. I can't say enough about the beach. It's one of the main reasons to go back to Melia over and over. The white sands and the many blue and green colors of the ocean, it's the best stress relief one could ever ask for.

I honestly can't say anything negative about this paradise. Would I go back again? Yes, without hesitation. So, if you are looking for an adults only resort that have the friendliest staff and great food, amazing scenery and a beach like no other, then make your way to Melia Cayo Coco. You won't regret it. Once again we had a fabulous time. It is a home away from home. The rooms are very clean. The beach is fabulous for walking. The staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. What a way to relax!

We visited Melia Cayo Coco Feb. 19 to Feb. 29 - and were not disappointed! From the warm reception upon arrival, to the perfect lagoon room - we had a fantastic vacation. Two ladies behind the scenes, Gippsy and Jessica, make sure everyone is having a good time, and are first to address any issues you may be having. The beach is bigger than it was 4 years ago. We spent all but 1 day on it - lots of sun or shade, and great swimming in the ocean. The food here is great! Selection, quality and presentation are fantastic. And of course the people who work to make our vacations great - enough can't be said for all their hard work - from the ladies cleaning the rooms, to the gentlemen tending to the grounds, the people at the front desk, the bartenders, servers, all the staff at the buffet - there was not one person who did not do their best to make our stay perfect! Great getaway!

The resort is small, everything seems to be central. This was our second time and it was as good as the first time. I personally prefer Rio de Oro in Holguin but the flights were not good for us, thus we ended up in Melia Cayo Coco. Plenty to eat, no problems with drinking water and rooms are smaller but very nice. My wife and I like to dance salsa, many opportunities to dance! Excellent staff throughout the resort. We would and will go back.
The only negative side is the the Cuban government did. When leaving Cuba you must exchange CUC's for Can $ but no all, anything less than a $1 you will get CUC's back, forcing you to leave that there. You can not use CUC's in duty free only Can $ or visa and prices have doubled in some cases.TOTAL MONEY GRAB!!!, this will hurt the Cuban economy!!!

Wow, this is our second time at Melia Cayo Coco. last time was before the hurricane . 4 years ago. the resort still has the beauty, charm, and same friendly and warm staff as well as new staff, who quickly bond with you making you feel you have arrived home. from the moment we arrived off the bus which by the way is a very short 15 minutes from airport we felt relaxation taking over.I want to begin by saying special thank you to two very hard working and behind the scenes mostly, ladies who without their devotion and love of their job would make a difference in this resort. Wow - Melia Cayo Coco

A great adults-only hotel that caters more to an older crowd. Go here for a nice relaxing vacation. The rooms are large, clean and there is plenty of hot (almost too hot) water. Never an issue with either the bath or beach towels. Beach chairs are plentiful and the beach spectacular. When it's windy, the pool area becomes the real center. Forget about the pool-side bed huts - they are 'saved' by really early risers.
Internet - available for purchase in hourly increments. I didn't hear of any issues with it but I was using the service of my home providers out-of-country package and it worked flawlessly.
Food was truly great - and not only for Cuba. Good food selections with night themes. Pasta station, fresh seafood station. Desserts were truly outstanding - awesome French macarons (and I've been to Paris), bananas Foster, delicious ice creams, etc.
The real highlight was the spectacular service from the entire staff - smiles from everybody and they looked happy being there. The pool-side 24 hr snack/drink bar that was exceptionally staffed by a warm, enthusiastic and friendly group of servers - shout outs to Dannys, Dayan, and Orlando.
The entertainment was fine as long as you were not looking for a 24-hr go-go-go type of show. The entertainment staff and shows were geared to a bit older clientele.
Don't go here if you are a 20-something looking to party - this isn't the resort for you. Go here if you want a nice, relaxing place where you can unwind in the warm sun while enjoying some of the best accommodations and food in Cuba.
One last thing and it really can make a difference - please, please, please consider being a truly gracious worldly traveler by leaving a tip for the various services - maids, breakfast, lunch, dinner (especially at the a la carte restos) and bars. To us travelers, it doesn't make a huge impact to leave a tip for good service, but for those hard-working staff, it is huge. They will never, ever expect it but I know it will be truly appreciated. Our 10th year at the Melia Cayo Coco!

The week passed so fast. We had a wonderful, warm, relaxing week at the Melia Cayo Coco. We always look forward to seeing the caring and helpful staff there. They are amazing and have become our Cuban friends. Whether it is at the front desk, customer service, maid service, ground keepers, buffet, etc. we are treated like family. We decided to upgrade to a lagoon room, which spoiled us again this year. [Details]

The strong points
The staff is again, number one! We find them absolutely amazing. They work very hard to make us as comfortable and happy as possible. Each year we love seeing them again. They have become family. The groundkeepers do a wonderful job, as does everyone.
The weak points

Best trip ever! they can't guarantee it but we had sun everyday. Perfect!
I had a problem with my room key reader. I went to the front desk and the clerk determined it was the room key reader. The repairman was there before I got back from the front desk.

Lots of food and variety even for my wife that isn't a red meat eater. Lots of fish and seafood. Most dinners had a theme which made things interesting to say the least. Breakfast is a big thing for us and we were never disappointed by the variety.

I notice that some people have complained about the lack of entertainment. The nightly entertainment is fantastic! Some of the singers' voices, Wow!!

This is an adult only and may not be suitable for those that want to "party". I'm sure there are resorts for that. We go for the peace and quiet except for the waves lapping up on shore.

Our rooms were extremely clean and the maid did our room at a time that was very convenient for us....we're at the beach.

I don't know about the internet as I leave all that stuff at home. I want an escape!

Just love this place. No disappointments!! We are already planning our trip for next year. Maybe we can sneak in two trips in. [Details]

The staff! We saw some that we've met before and it was like greeting family. Actual hugs!
The weak points
No lobster dinner this year unless you wanted to pay extra. Last year the lobster tail supper was on a Friday. At the outside dining there was a fire pit for a pig roast. We never had one the whole week we were there.

Incredible hotel, elderly crowd

This hotel was amazing! The staff were absolutely incredible!!!!! The food was great, the room was beautiful, the beach was amazing. The only thing we were disappointed with was the "excitement" level of the other guests. We're 20 and almost all of the other guests were 65 . We thought "adults only" would mean that the parties would be awesome and we'd have a wild time sans crying babies and misbehaved children... This was more of a retirement home on the beach. Excellent time

This was our third time at the Melia and it was great yet again. The staff are excellent and make it fun to be there. They work hard to make the stay enjoyable and fun.

The food was excellent. The Mediterranean A La Carte was again our favourite. The buffets were well stocked and managed. The meat cook could see me coming and got the extra shrimp going for my wife.

We have tried a couple other sites in Cayo Coco and this one out supplied and out staffed the others. Highly recommend going. We will be going again next year for our fourth time. [Details]

A Great Vacation

We had a great vacation during our stay at the Melia Cayo Coco. The food was great and there was a very good selection. I would like to thank Omar and Beatiz for going out of their way to look after us. While the room was old it was in good shape and very clean. The beach was beautiful and there were lots of activities to participate in if you wanted to. I would especially like to thank Pedro for the kick boxing lessons he gave my son, it made his vacation. The entertainment was enjoyable especially the water show.
All of the staff was very freindlly and helpful. It was our best vacation yet. [Details]

Fantastic experience!

Melia Cayo Coco is our first experience with Cuba and it could not have been better!. From the friendly and most helpful buffet staff to the housekeeping ladies who work so hard to make our stay wonderful and carefree, we found all of the resort employees really great at their jobs. The pool is fabulous, the beach is awesome and the entertainment was everything we could have asked for. The a la carte restaurants that we visited were great as well. [Details]

The weak points
poor coffee, unfortunate cold eggs for breakfast at the International a la carte restaurant, went to the buffet for breakfast after that which is always good. Our group of 6 could not get internet access.

Minor issues, our Renovated Room was amazing. Only small issue was the hot water non existent the last 2 full days. No big deal. Buffet Orange Juice should be freshly squeezed in my opinion. That's it nothing else negative.
