Amazing vacation

I stay for 7 days with my best friend May11-18, 2022. It was the most amazing resort to stay at. All staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had such a great time, everywhere was clean, food was delicious, drinks were beyond perfect, the pools were incredible. The shows and activities were a lot of fun. I need to give a special thank you to Yordanis, Denis, Lisandra, Alex, and Bryan made our stay so memorable. We had a lot of fun and met many friends that we now consider family. Loved this resort and all that Cuba had to offer

This resort is beautiful! The rooms are lovely and very clean. We had a view of the pool area and the ocean, the best of both worlds. The restaurants, snack bar and other bars were terrific. The food was good, and yes the buffet may get a little monotonous, but if you do anything everyday it will seem that way. The staff at the resort are amazing!!! Everyone is super friendly. We became quick friends with Miguel and Brian. They are a part of the entertainment group. Those guys were awesome and we were sad to say goodbye. I also have to give a great review to Denise and Giobani, they were wonderful and very welcoming. The beach is nice, it's not huge but it is beautiful. We snorkeled right off the beach and swam in a school of about 10,000 fish. Playa Pilar is an amazing beach and only a short drive away. You can take a taxi there for $5 Canadian and he will even pick you up and bring you back to the resort. It was well worth the money and I would highly recommend it to anyone. We also did a Jeep safari, it's an all-day excursion and was wonderful. We visited a huge farm, where we rode horses and took a boat across a lake to a tiny restaurant where they served us an authentic Cuban meal. Just outside of the resort you can also go to a tiny little restaurant on the beach for a lobster dinner which was amazing. This is my second time in Cuba and it was by far my most favorite. I love this resort and I would recommend it to anybody. [Details]

This has been the best vacation ever! The resort is absolutely beautiful and the staff are amazing and so kind. Jose Ramon, Ernesto and Carlos make the best drinks at the snack bar, with the sweetest server Maria bringing the snacks to go with them. Brian and Miguel put on incredible entertainment by the pool everyday and teach fantastic dance lessons. The nightly shows were amazing, the performers were absolutely phenomenal. Yorundais made sure we had everything we needed and enjoyed our trip to the fullest extent. We spent the day at pillar beach and it was absolutely beautiful and just a short cab ride away or you can walk down a trail to the beach on the resort. I would definitely recommend visiting this resort and I will 110% be coming back! [Details]

First time coming down here or anywhere really and it was beautiful!!The staff are the best people you will meet in the world. Makes it better they are so nice to each other aswell not just us. they are so happy to do their job.Jose,Ernesto,carlos(both of them),maria , denise , brian, migeul , yordenais and MANY more are AMAZING!!!! Made us feel like we were VIP section haha. So much to do like the disco was so worth the money (it has AC) pilar beach was beautiful. You can swim with the fish and other creatures. Carlos will make you a special drink if you don't know what you want and it'll come out great each time!! The sports bar is beautiful and the drinks there are so cool. The room was lovely and I had a complete ocean view. A ginormous king bed to myself. The staff were excellent & very friendly. The breakfast were amazing. I didn't have lunch, dinner was substantial. The lobby bar was a lovely place to meet up with others or to go to for early coffee & drinks after the day.

UNBEATABLE OCEAN VIEWS

We had a great time during our 7 day visit to the Gran Muthu Imperial resort. Overall, we loved it and I'm sure we'll be back someday.

The good:
- The ocean views are beautiful - ridiculously beautiful! You can see the ocean from almost anywhere on the resort, including the buffet! By FAR the best views we've experienced at any resort anywhere, including Jamaica, Dominican, and Mexico
- 4/5 employees were usually very friendly, helpful and kind
- 3 gorgeous pools with lots of seating available, with shade and without
- the upkeep of the grounds themselves was impeccable; the outside workers really did an amazing job
- lots of bars, lines for drinks were seldom seen
The Bad
- our first room was rough. Really rough. The sliding doors didn't shut, didn't lock, and let in a howling wind. The shower leaked all over the floor. There was a pot light dangling from the bathroom ceiling. The toilet seat wasn't attached properly and had stains. The ceiling above the shower was mouldy and rotten. To their credit, they quickly reacted to the doors, toilet, and dangling light but not much they could do about the leaking shower or mouldy ceiling. Our A/C stopped working that afternoon too. They couldn't fix it so we had to change rooms. Not the end of the world but we got a room with a little worse view, but at least it was close to our first room. The new room was better, only issues being the shower leaked all over the floor and the toilet did not stop running. We talked to the front desk 5 times (that is not an exaggeration) about the running toilet because it was really loud at night. They said it was not broken, so we gave up and I ended up shutting off the water supply at night so we could get some sleep.
- 3 nights there was furniture being scraped on the floor above us, from about 10 - 2 am. Not sure if it was a utility room but the mystery of them needing to ceaselessly drag stuff across the floor in the middle of the night will haunt me for the rest of my days
- the food selection was not great but we did not go hungry so it obviously wasn't that bad!
- we had a couple experiences with poor service in the snack bar
- the managers/supervisors were by far the the least friendly and helpful. They typically loafed around scowling and got in the way of the flow of guests during meals while the workers did their best to provide a great meal experience
- the sports bar was closed 4 days which was disappointing b/c it was a nice place to spend some evening hours
- I was looking forward to the pool basketball nets that were in the pics but they were nowhere to be seen at the pool
- not the place to go if you're crazy for the beach, but there absolutely is a beach and it's not a long walk

Despite the extensive list of opportunities for improvement our overall experience was still really great. When you're sipping a cold one while staring at the turquoise ocean between your outstretched legs the negatives fade away pretty quickly.

A couple people who stood out for us were Jennifer at the upper pool bar and Brian Adams with the activity/entertainment team. Super friendly and kind, they made you happy whenever you interacted with them.

We tipped in American, it seems like coins were not the staffs first choice. We brought a dozen pairs of work gloves for the gardeners, gave our egg cook an under armour shirt, gave our thermal mug to a Gardner, and for our maid we did different daily gifts consisting of pads/tampons, t-shirt, sunglasses, cash, and our leftover toiletries that are hard for them to source there. Next time we will bring a bunch of small pill bottles for advil and Tylenol for them as well. Take sweetener for your coffee if you like sweetener. Diet Coke and whiskey or rye were not in the house so prepare yourself accordingly if those are your drinks of choice.

I feel bad listing the negatives because we really did love it overall, but that doesn't mean the negatives didn't exist.

Go in with tempered expectations around food and room finishes and enjoy rest! [Details]

We stayed in the hotel for one week. The hotel was about 50% capacity. The food was good, breakfast buffet was perfect. Never an issue finding something to drink. The sports bar had the best variety of drinks. The pool and beach area always clean. The lunch at beach rice dish was top notch, service 100%. We went for a day trip to pilar beach and it is stunning. We did the swim with dolphins and it was a great experience. We went to market hemingwayplaza and ever booth had something of interest......we all spent money. Over all the experience was perfect. Even with covid the experience was fantastic. [Details]

The time we needed, away

Our stay at the Gran Muthu Imperial in Cayo-Coco, Cuba was amazing. From the first morning we were there to the moment we got on the bus to go home. We arrived in paradise to a beautiful ocean view room in block 9 that smelled so clean and floors you could eat off. We immediately got ready, reserved our chairs for the day and arrived at the snack bar for our morning Spanish coffee to go, from our favourite bartender Ernesto and walked to the beautiful infinity pool to watch the birds and enjoy a spectacular sunrise. We'd then venture to the lobby where we met up with Miguel - Animation Crew extraordinaire! Miguel was sure to join us and our friends every morning and evening, for coffee, to tell us about the day planned at the resort and to tell us a lot about the Cuban culture. Miguel is very knowledgeable and was very attentive to our developing friendship and ensuring we enjoyed our stay.

A lot of our time was spent at the pool during the day. A lot of activities happen at the infinity pool with the convenience of a swim up bar. There are different themes each day. My favourite was Canada Day of course. The animation crew did an amazing job with the activities and getting people involved on a daily. My husband and I have travelled to several resorts and never participated in any activities but this crew, somehow got us involved a lot. What a blast. Thank you!

Food was great and plentiful as well. I can be a picky eater, and not once went hungry. The international restaurant was delicious. Cuban Day meal was amazing and very cultural - I loved the soup. Buffet was plentiful every morning and evening with great selections. Who doesn't love a fresh omelette to start your day, fresh cooked chicken, catch of the day, or paella to end it. Lunch, when we were peckish, would take place at the snack bar with an amazing selection of food. The fries are crispy hot, the spaghetti hit the spot that one day…you know what I'm sayin ;-) and the burgers and hotdogs looked delish.

All in all I would recommend the Gran Muthu Imperial to anyone who's looking for a little of everything - good people, lots of sun, fun, drinks, relaxation, laughs, food and great memories with some great friends. This trip will not be forgotten. Thank you <3 [Details]

Gorgeous, Friendly Resort

This resort is very beautiful. It is quite new having opened only a year or so before the pandemic at which point it had to shut down. The infinity pools are amazing. There are many amenities including 2 pool bars, a beach bar, a 24 hr snack bar, sports bar, lobby bar, cigar bar, a gym, a small store, small market nearby for souvenirs, nearby spa and bowling alley.
The activity staff Miguel and Brian are great. Relaxing in the lobby/lobby bar after dinner was always nice with the breeze blowing through. There was some entertainment that would get guests involved who wanted to be involved like some dancing.
Wifi is included and available in room, at pools, and in lobby. It wasn't available in the buffet or a la cartes.

The three infinity pools. The staff are very friendly. The weather of course. Included wifi. The range of amenities. Always can find something to eat. Plenty of loungers available, just ask the pool boys to get them for you.
The weak points
There was only entertainment 4 nights in the theatre. The beach is not immediately in front of the resort. It is a short walk to the left. It is nice but a bit rocky. There is a bar there. snack bar by beach is not open. a la cartes were not very good

Buffet service was served by staff to limit people handling serving utensils. All resort staff wore masks. Masks were required in any indoor dining areas.

Gorgeous resort. Our room was great, bed was very comfortable and the rain shower was a treat. We had the best sea view (8009). Only downfall is the beach, it is very rocky. There is a section that is better but it's a long walk and far from the beach bar and washrooms. For individuals not in the greatest shape, it's really tiring. However the pool area made up for it as you can see the sea from up there. We also went to Pillar Beach and it was gorgeous (bring money as you need to pay for chairs). Most of the staff was friendly. There were some food shortages when we were there but it was expected. The Snack Bar was great for us fussy eaters. [Details]

This is my first time at the Gran Muthu Imperial and it has been and excellent stay. The room and resort decor is beautiful. Enjoyed every minute with the beautiful weather here, and the fabulous entertainment inside and especially outside at the pool. FREE Resort wide WIFI for the social media junkies!!! (ME)

This is definitely a great place to stay. Steps away from the gorgeous beach and minutes away also to Pillar a beach.

The restaurant had many different varieties to choose from. Especially, made bookings for the a la carte restaurants (don't miss this)

Travelling during covid - This is my 3rd time to Cayo Coco/Guillermo during the pandemic. The resort is super clean compared to other resorts I've stayed here. From the reception, bar staff, waiters(tresses) housekeeping to entertainers, they were all wearing masks to ensure safety. Many of the tourists were also respectful of doing the same. But not always, which is fine and didn't bother me at all (you live only once).

Great shout out to Yordanis Romero Garmury (Customer Service Manger) this man definitely answered my many questions of the resort and the area. Look for this man!

Visited the MGM Gran Muthu Imperial between January 25th and February 8th... Its never long enough! 2023 will be a three-week trip for sure!

I have been to this resort before the pandemic and it was awesome and now during a pandemic its still awesome because no matter what resort you go to its the people that make the visit special. With my stay both times customer service was great and anything I needed i got even when i scraped knee medical attention was there!

I had an ocean view room with two beds and spacious balcony. The maid was professional and cleaned every day with new towels etc. I took my HDMI cable and even had a Netflix night a few nights a week as the TVs in rooms all have HDMI inputs... Just load Netflix through WIFI and its a breeze to watch your favourites in room with rum of course!

The beach and pools were both great and the pool being a bit chilly it was still refreshing! The beach walks every morning were awesome watching pelicans fishing and people kite surfing!

One thing I did not like is how loud the infinity pool area can be at times with the entertainment team but that's the party zone so I usually stay in one of the other pools closer to the lobby where it is much quieter or go to the beach!

A few a la cartes were closed due to low occupancy but the a la cartes that were open were always great! Best lasagna I have ever tasted was in Cuba!

The buffet was great as well. Maybe 90% of the time the classic breakfast staples were available IE. eggs, bacon, tater tots, toast (sometimes no butter). Lunch buffet had a few versions of rice, usually some pork or chicken or even both! some pasta too. You will not starve! Lots of salads and fruits as well. Smoothie bar and the ice cream OMG! Delicious!!!

The lobby bar had entertainment most nights and because of the low occupancy some of the nightly stage entertainments went to the lobby.

The PCR test was done three days before I left and the medical team was professional and was done in a breeze!

Arriving in Toronto customs was also a breeze and another PCR test was done also easy and barely up my nose lol.

All in all I enjoyed this visit. A few things are always missing in a vacation and always a few things go side ways but please just go to this resort. Open up your heart and mind and you will be pleasantly surprised how well the Cubans treat you just like familia!

A decent resort with lots of potential

We stayed Feb 20-27, 2020.

The resort didn't live up to it's 5-star billing.

That said, we paid several hundred dollars less (per person) than it would have cost for our favourite resort.
And we all agreed that we had a great time for the week.

ROOM:

Our room was fine.
Clean and modern.
We didn't get the single large bed we requested, and had to settle for 2 double beds.
But the beds were very comfortable.
The room had a large chair with a round cushion, that we didn't find comfortable.
It looked like a cat bed for a very large cat.
We used it as a place to put a suitcase.

The toilet didn't work when we got there, but they sent someone to look after it right away.
It still took 1/2 hour to refill the tank between flushes, but at least it worked.

The safe is included with the price of the room.
Our safe "froze" closed once, but the technician and his magic machine came promptly to reset it.
It worked fine after that.

Many people have complained about the leaking showers.
It appears there are two problems here.
In one of our group's rooms, the shower drained so slowly that it overflowed into the bathroom.
And there is no floor drain outside the shower stall.
In our room, the glass door had been installed poorly, leaving a large gap.
We used the hand-held shower head and avoided directing water near the door.
We kept leaks to a minimum.
We had good pressure and lots of hot water throughout our stay.

There seems to be a real issue with the laundry service.
Most (if not all) of the resorts contract laundry cleaning to the same company.
It appears that the company doesn't have the capacity to service all the resorts.
There are a lot of new resorts on Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo.
You will probably have to use the same beach towel for your stay.
Room towels didn't get replaced during our week.
It would have been nice to have fresh towels at least once during our stay.
Sheets were not changed while we were there (which was fine with us).

A note on beach towels:
There have been reviews complaining about not being able to check out without returning all beach towels.
Maybe they were reviewing the wrong resort?
Our beach towels were in our room when we arrived.
We simply left them in the room when we checked out.

There was a "room inventory" inspection of our room one day.
Three people, one with a clipboard, came in and checked over our room.
Not sure what they were looking for.
Wouldn't it be better to do this between guests?

There are many trip hazards throughout the resort.
The transitions between different floor levels are not gradual.
There is often a 1-inch sharp lip that is marked with yellow paint.
We tripped on these lips an many occasions, and we weren't alone.

RESTAURANTS:

The buffet restaurant was a bit strange.
There were often long lines to get to the cooking stations.
And it was necessary to cut into the lines to get at the buffet food.
Most guests were very accommodating, but some got huffy.

In the buffet restaurant, the hot food was not hot.
Even the selections that appeared to be hot on the buffet were cold before you could get to your table.
Part of this was due to the A/C, which was of course a necessity.
This has been a problem at every resort we've been to.

There was always something good to eat, but not a lot of variety, especially for cooked vegetables.

The bread and cheese were excellent.
The bread stations were beside the toasters.
Seems reasonable, except that those waiting for their toast to cook blocked the area.
Even if you just wanted to get a slice of bread, you had to deal with the toast crowd.
Not a very efficient system.

Table service at the buffet restaurant was excellent.
Glasses were kept topped up.
Empty plates were taken away promptly.
But hang on to your silverware, or you'll quickly find yourself without a fork or spoon.

The juice station was a bit hard to find, but there was good fruit juice.
There is a beer tap by the juice station where you can pour your own beer.
(We only used this for lunch and supper).
I'd love to see self-serve beer taps in the lobby and snack-bar.
Then no standing in a long line for a beer while bartenders make cappuccino and fancy drinks for those ahead.

We didn't eat at the a la cartes, so can't comment on them.

BARS:

The lobby is just plain weird.
The furniture in the lobby is not designed to accommodate groups of people who want to sit together.
Much of the furniture is huge, sprawling, and uncomfortable.
The few tables where you could sit with friends were taken quickly.
The table service was so slow that there was always a line of a dozen or more people at the bar.
For non-smokers, the lobby is a poor place to spend time.
There is a non-smoking section, but it's right beside the smoking section.

The 24-hour snack-bar is a much nicer place to sit for a drink.
The breeze off the ocean keeps the air clean and fresh.
There are tables and chairs where groups can sit together.
But the table service is awful.
I saw 5 wait-staff (including 2 bartenders) serving a whopping 13 guests.
It was necessary to go up to the bar every time you needed another drink.
Otherwise you could sit there for an hour with an empty glass.
The problem wasn't that more staff were needed.
The problem was that nobody was there to ensure they were actually doing their job.
And we tipped, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

We ordered fries there, and had to wait a while to get them (even though there was a small crowd).
When the fries arrived, they were cold and soggy, pretty much inedible.
We assumed our fries were the normal, and decided we just wouldn't get them again.
But another day we saw a table where they had great looking fries!
So we ordered some, and they were delicious, hot and crisp.
One day our cappuccino was quite cold.
The rest of the time it was nice and hot.
Management should look into why the quality is so varied.
My guess is that the staff don't bring things out in a timely manner.

The cigar bar has some nice tables just outside in the courtyard.
But if you get a beer, you'll have to ask for a real glass, or you'll get a small plastic one.
There is no draft tap at this bar.
I had to settle for canned Bucanero beer, as Cristal (my favourite) was not available at any time.

We stopped by the beach bar for a cold beer, and were told "Sorry, no beer today".
Then a cheerful "Maybe tomorrow!".

There is also a "sports bar", which we never quite made it to.
The smoke inside turned us away.

The BEACH:

The beach was great.
About a 5 minute walk from the buffet restaurant.
Even less from our room (building #3).
Nice sand (a bit course, but not hard on the feet).
No water shoes needed if you pick your spot to enter and exit.
It stays shallow for a long way out.
With a snorkel and mask, there are fish to see right off the beach (find some coral).
For the best snorkeling, take a Hobie Cat catamaran out to the reef.
Be prepared to spend about 20 CUC for the trip.

There are not enough palapas for shade at the beach.
The spots were all taken by early morning, on a good day.
We walked over to the sister Rainbow resort.
The Rainbow caters to LGBTQ clientele, but everybody is welcome.
There were plenty of palapas available, and the attendant set us up in a good spot.
We explained we were from the Imperial resort, but that wasn't a problem.
He even suggested we could request a transfer to the Rainbow, but it was late in our stay.
The beach on this side is even better.
Once the Rainbow works up to a full complement of guests, this probably won't work so well.

The POOLS:

The pools are set up beautifully.
But the chairs are all taken by 8 am.
And many of them are not occupied, just claimed by towels or personal possessions.
We don't feel right about doing this ourselves, so we didn't get to sit around the pool.
When the animation team starts up, the already loud area becomes VERY LOUD.
I'm sure that people in Miami were wondering what the noise was...
Does anybody really enjoy this??

ENTERTAINMENT:

In a word, disappointing.

We like to hear Cuban musicians performing Cuban music.
There was one band that performed one day at the buffet restaurant.
And again later in the courtyard.
They were great, but we only saw them the one day.
More of this kind of music would have been appreciated.

There was a group of 4 tenors singing in the lobby one evening.
Very talented.
But there was no good place to take in the show due to the aforementioned weird lobby arrangement.

There were shows in the theater in the evenings (9:30).
Most of these were usual song-and-dance shows that are OK, but not our cup of tea.
One show (Story of Cuba) was very well done.
Amazing sets and costumes.
But the sound system was so over-amplified that everything was just loud and muddy.

There was a rock band at the theater one night, and they were very good.
They had to contend with a few power failures, but the power came back on each time within minutes.
Again, the over-amplified sound system didn't help any.
Maybe that's what put the power out...

BOTTOM LINE:

We had a great time.
This resort has the potential to be really good.

But in order to earn its stars, it has to address:
Strange lobby arrangement, uncomfortable furniture.
Cramped buffet restaurant, with restricted food choices.
Lack of entertainment.
Spotty service (excellent in buffet, horrible in 24-hr snack-bar).
Lack of palapas on beach or places to sit around the pool.
Laundry service needs to be improved. [Details]

Best Vacation Ever

We were there for 14 days and we enjoyed our vacation very much.

FOOD
It is Cuba but I have to say that we were very pleased with the food! After 14 days we still enjoyed every meal. The omelette and the pancake in the morning were very good. For lunch and diner we enjoyed the stir fry, the tortillas, and the pastas. Ice cream and churros were also nice for our sweet tooth. The bread is awesome and the little pastry were perfect!! We got excellent service from our cook Hery and our server Ritsy and Yaimara all of them did the extra little think to make our stay special

ROOM
The rooms are spacious, clean, and modern. The maid was very friendly and took care of all we needed. We had a beautiful ocean front room so we did enjoy the screen door on the patio so we could enjoy the sound of the waves

DRINKS AND BAR
The drinks were excellent, in previous travel we had a hard time with the drinks since to much booze were put in them. Here the drinks taste perfect and tje service at the bar is excellent!! At the LOBBY BAR we had excellent service form Ivan Elier and Sharittee they are both very friendly and funny [Details]

New resort with great staff and a few glitches

For all you "Newbie" Cuban resort travellers, the portrayed Cuban resort star ratings are flawed. Don't expect a true 5 star resort experience any where in the world for under $1000.00. If you find one, call me and I will book it right away. I have travelled to Cuba 25 times over the years and I am still looking. This Gran Muthu Imperial resort is a beautiful modern facility that is only 1 year old, hence, the staff are young, the management is also young but the resort is very fresh and delivers. As with all Cuban resorts, food imports are problematic with the USA embargos and issues with their socialist trading partners. The Cubans are renowned in doing the best they can with what they have in hand. This also applies to their food services at all of the Cuban resorts. The food at this resort was fine at the buffet, weak a bit at the "a la cartes" but generally acceptable every where else. Table service was the best to be expected with all of the young staff. They are very amiable, well coiffed, good humoured and very endearing people. I loved the Cuban staff. The rooms are new and functional but the cleaning staff lack a bit of consistency. Generally the resort is extremely clean with immaculate public bathrooms etc. Expect a few glitches here and there concerning the infrastructure.

If any one complains about the beaches in the area they should have their heads examined. You have the choice of the resort beach with its own beach bar, also and including the 13 kms beach at the sister Gran Muthu resort just beside the Imperial, the world renowned Pilar beach just down the road, and last but not least the Gran Muthu Rainbow beach about a 10 minute walk down the beach from the resort. For all you younger travellers, they have a disco 5 minutes down the road by foot from the resort which also serves the locals and other Muthu resorts. The pools are multi levelled, very functional, and have a beautiful few of the coast and sea.

To conclude, I will definitely go back with my girlfriend and really enjoyed my stay of 10 days. For all of you other weird towel reservation complainers and grumpy faced people, I urge you to stay away and go somewhere else and let the others enjoy this Gran Muthu Imperial resort and the Cuban people. Actually, it was a good holiday, we made the best of it. The hotel looks very nice, it's only over a year old. It has a lot of potential, but there's a lack of personnel , causing poor service at the Snack Bar and at the Lobby Bar. We waited over an hour for our food. There was a couple of hydro power outages lasting about one hour at a time. Our room card stopped working, we had to go to the front desk on two occasions to reprogram it, then a technician was sent to repair it. The food is ok at the buffet but with long waiting lines that cover up the food laid out on the counters. Minimal utensils and rarely identified food items therefore constant food cross contamination. The room towels were replaced every two or three days. We will not return or recommend this resort. Least favourite trip to Cuba

My wife and I have travelled to Cuba 6 times. This would be my least favourite resort. Not everything was bad there were some good points.
We arrived around noon check in was quick and to our surprise room was ready. Room was nice two double beds not King bed like requested. Kevin the porter was very friendly and helpful best staff member there. When we arrived to room air conditioning did not work Kevin tried could not get it to work he told us to go have fun and he would get some one to fix it. When we returned a few hours later it was working perfectly.
The buffet was much smaller then any resort Of the same size I have been to. It was not designed well as lineups for cook to order items blocked buffet food and the plates were in odd place like middle of the lines. There were fewer choices the man most places I've been to. They did have more vegetables then we are use to getting in Cuba. The staff were hit and
miss in the buffet restaurant sometimes you would be finished before water and coffee were offered sometimes you got it right away.
Pros good coffee and speciality coffee in lobby bar and snack bar.
Lots off hot water and great water pressure
Front desk was friendly
Lobby and grounds were really nice
Maid in unit 6 was great and room was clean
The upper bar in the pool area made great drinks and bartenders were awesome.
Cons snack bar food was inconsistent sometimes good sometimes not so good stone cold rock hard fries
Snack bar staff not friendly and appeared if you were bothering them
No clean towels for five days
Shower leaked all over floor
Pathway dark at night lots of trip hazzards
Most staff not friendly
Air Canada rep Licet great at booking excursions but useless for anything of importance
Power out for the day not able to was hands or flush toilets as no running water for more than 12 hours
Small shower
Lied to about power outage told whole island out of power not true neighbouring resorts had power
For us the cons out weighed the pros and we will not return to or recommend this resort there are much better resorts in Cuba.
We will return to Cuba as we love the beaches and the people just not here

Room was ready for check in midday. Requested top floor room closest to ocean and request granted. The rooms are large, clean and well appointed. The buffet and snack bar have an extensive variety of food.
You will not go hungry. Salads, fruit, poutine, sandwiches, made to order meat, fish, pasta, pizza.
The staff from the front desk to the servers to the bartenders, maids were efficient and polite
Highly recommend this resort. One of the best resorts in our 20 trips to Cuba. [Details]

The strong points
Resort well laid out. Buffet at 7;00 dinner at 6:00. Grounds and pools immaculate.
The weak points
Afternoon pool entertainment could be toned down a bit.
