Just spent a week here and it was fantastic! I was told before I went that I should bring condiments and toilet paper but we need none of that! Some things did run out during the week food wise but we always found something to have to eat and the Al A Cartes were excellent especially the Italian. The Omelets in the morning with fresh fruit and yogurt set us up for the day and if we were peckish we would have ham and cheese panini's for a quick snack. Overall would definately return t this resort. [Details]

We have been to Cayo Guillermo area many times and, in fact, got married on the beach in front of what used to be Sol Cayo Guillermo 14 years ago. We have a deep connection to the area and the people who live and work there. This was our first return to Cuba since 2015 and we went with an open mind, not expecting a 5 star experience (even though Grand Muthu likes to make this claim), and certainly no expectations with regard to the food. We read all the reviews on here (the good and the bad) before we travelled. We expected some glitches, as is the norm with all the resorts in Cuba. However, what we encountered was far below even those expectations.

Let's begin with the our arrival at the Airport. Arrived at10:00 pm. Get through customs, etc.... walk outside - No bus. So after standing around with a group of other tired and thirsty travellers for 30 or so minutes, we decided to grab a cab (which there were plenty of). We got to our destination within 25 minutes, down $60, but well worth it.

CHECK IN - was quick and easy and we made our own way to our room in Building 7. Third floor. Heads up to anyone with mobility issues or seniors like us, there are no elevators in any of the buildings. So up the stairs we go dragging our suitcases behind us.

ROOM - Our room had a spectacular view of the beach here and we enjoyed sitting out on our veranda in the afternoon shade just enjoying the breeze. There wasn't much else we could praise about the room overall. The wallpaper was peeling off in multiple places, there was an intermittent smell of urine - from where, we couldn't figure out, but we did notice that the smell was strongest after the room was "cleaned" (I'll discuss more about that later). The lamps have metal rings that have rusted and bled brown stains throughout the lampshade. There are plaster repairs to the walls that no one has bothered to sand or paint over. The furniture in general is worn and water damaged. The mattress was okay - the pillows flat and uncomfortable.

BATHROOM - The toilet ran incessantly for the whole 10 days we were there (husband would turn the water flow off at night so we could sleep). The shower leaked every time we used it. Kudos though - there was lots of hot water and lots of water pressure. But, the shower itself was pretty gross. The floor needs a good scrub with a hard brush and some bleach (as does the rest of the bathroom) As you've read in other reviews, toilet paper seems to be regarded as a luxury here - we had to chase the cleaning lady down multiple times to get a roll. Bring your own supply.

CLEANING - I've read so many reviews on here about how clean this resort is. Were we just unlucky? Our sheets were NOT CHANGED even once during our stay. The "clean" towels in the bathroom smelled of stinky feet. After 3 days of not having fresh towels, we decided to leave all of them on the floor to indicate to the cleaner that we wanted fresh towels. She took them away and didn't replace them. We went to customer service and 2 fresh bath towels were sent to our room (and they actually smelled clean). After another 3 days we tracked down our cleaner again and asked for fresh towels. She replaced them with another two towels that, again, smelled like stinky feet. Water in the room was hit and miss. We had to go to customer service to get replacement water. The urine smell in our room was strongest after it was cleaned, so I can only speculate
it came from the mop used to clean the floor. Overall, the cleaning and service to the room was substandard, even by Cuban standards. We did notice that our cleaning lady seemed to have a male friend tagging along with her on more than one occasion - even saw him lying on one of the beds in a room she was cleaning one day. We left good tips everyday, as well as a bag of treats/gifts/necessities, but didn't see any benefit from it. What I do think is that management of the cleaning staff is lacking. Seems like it's a free for all (at least in Building 7).

RESTAURANTS - I won't go into detail here, because there is just so many things wrong with the food service at this resort. As you've read in other reviews there are many many flies all over everything, especially in the buffet. But the cockroaches were the most disturbing thing for me. The buffet was absolutely infested with them. We saw them everywhere. One morning we went to the buffet and the smell of petroleum was so strong we had to leave again - we assume it was some sort of spray they used to deal with the roaches, but it cannot have been food safe - or healthy for humans to inhale. And it didn't work, since we saw the roaches in the buffet again the next day. The pool restaurant/snack bar has been taken over by some blackbirds that deposit their droppings all over the tables and chairs - same goes for the Seasky restaurant near the beach. All these places have plastic placemats on the tables that are encrusted with bird droppings and food and who knows what else. It would be much more hygenic to have just a table top to clean and eat off of.
We were here for 10 days and I can honestly say I had only 2 meals that I enjoyed, both of them at the "Garden Restaurant" an outdoor restaurant right across from Seasky. The food and the service here are second to none... this is the standard that the rest of the resort needs to emulate.

BARS - service was decent at the bars even though you had to line up at the lobby bar. There has to be a better system. On the positive side, it was nice to see some decent liquors available and a treat to get a real G&T in Cuba. However, if you are a wine drinker, you better like Rose, because that's all you will be offered. There is some red and white to be had if you know the right people, but it's hit and miss. Word to the wise - if you want a decent morning coffee, get it at the lobby bar. The coffee in the buffet tastes like instant.

SUMMARY - There were aspects of this resort that I truly enjoyed - the beach, the pools, the wonderful staff at reception, customer service, the lobby bar staff (Yandi and Janny) were exceptional. Marianny at the Seasky restaurant is a treasure. The grounds are beautiful. The biggest negative for us was the lack of cleanliness in and around restaurants and public washrooms and in our room. It's as if the pandemic never happened here. Our feeling is that the management of this hotel is turning a blind eye to all the problems that are so apparent to anyone who bothers to look. Or perhaps they just don't care because they know they will fill their rooms anyway. And I think there are many people who overlook all the negatives (particularly return visitors) because they have made friends with the staff here and don't want to hurt their feelings or cause them any trouble with their managers.

We wanted this to be a good experience and we wanted that old connection we felt every time we came to this part of Cuba, but it just couldn't be found at this resort. We will not return. [Details]

However, we present a sad reality, we have been testing several of the existing products in the country to combat this, and till now we have not found one 100% effective, since we depend on the products available in the country's stores, which are the ones that our suppliers can guarantee us. Your observations have certainly helped us, but much more to all those who read these forums. It is a pity to know that you will not return to this hotel for future trips. We would have liked you to give us the opportunity to have your visit again in the future, so that we could do our best to erase such a bad experience you have experienced. I noticed a big difference in the cleanliness over last year. I couldn't change my beach towel all week. Lots of issues with room key and safe. Also had to wait a very long time for a room when I arrived . I'm assuming it's because the hotel was full whereas last year it wasn't. The buffet had long lineups and the food was the same everyday. That being said you don't go to Cuba for the food, the beaches are fantastic and the staff are too. [Details]

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

In this case, I'd say you would have to take the bad with the good.
Pros: my room was nice and it had a great ocean view. Room 3116. The resort has lovely ocean views from almost everywhere and it had a nice beach.
Loved walking to the west along the water as well.
Food not as bad as I feared. Good a la carte's, just keep in mind that it is Cuba and there are shortages and the menu items are not always as listed.
Pools were nice and roomy!
In most cases, the staff was helpful and tried very hard. Loved Umberto and Claudia at the Aqua restaurant and Anna at the buffets.

Cons:
Cleanliness/sanitation- sheets and towels are stained. Cleaned but stained. And no replacements or extras. I don't mind having the same towels and sheets for the week, except when other areas are not sanitary, then a fresh towel would help curb any potential spread of sickness. Flies all over the buffets. I admit they are trying to address this as you can smell the fumigation chemicals when you enter the buffet. I assume the chemicals are food safe? Another step would be to wash the tables and placemats between guests or remove placemats altogether. The tables are lightly brushed off from crumbs but that's it. It's possible there is a lack of cleaning supplies.
I did not use any of the public washrooms except the lobby one once. It was fine when I went, but I heard many complaints about the gross / dirty washrooms with no toilet paper. Three out of our group of 5 ended up with travellers diarrhea, even though we followed the guidelines. I'm surprised there is not more sickness ( maybe a contributing factor to the gross bathrooms)
Also birds eating off plates and pooping in snack bar.
Layout of buffet makes no sense and long line results. Long line for most everything food-wise. Pack your patience.
Be very careful with your money, even in your safe. I had some brand new bills from the bank in my safe and by day 2, I noticed that some had been replaced by bills that were taped and folded. Nothing was stolen but I was not comfortable that someone was swapping bills out of my safe.
I feel like these criticisms are mostly fixable and what an all around great resort it would be. Other Cuba travellers we met up with described some similarities so it could be Cuba-wide at this time. There have been some very unfortunate events in the past couple of years. However, I think sanitation is one of this resorts key issues.
I did pay only $1500 CAD for an ocean front room in peak of March Break so this may be a case of you get what you pay for. [Details]

Had a great week at this resort with my three teenagers. Resort had excellent service. Everyone was so helpful and pleasant. Employees were bilingual. What a bonus that is!

3 restaurants à la carte during a week stay so it was a nice break from the buffet. Snack bar open 24/7.

Beautiful pool. Amazing view and easy access to the beach. Paid for ocean room view and was well worth it. While the kids were getting ready for supper i could still take advantage of the beautiful view of the ocean.

Rooms were large and very clean. No adapters needed in the rooms for electronic devices.

Great variety of shows that each night. Music, dance etc. Animation for younger children as well as adults.

Spa services available, hairdresser services.
The usual excursions also available.

I brought my 10 year old her for her bday last week. Thus far, this was my worst vacation. For starters, this is a 5 star for maybe Cuba, but not for international ratings. Cigarette smoking was everywhere, font lobby, hall ways, pool side, in the pools, directly outside of restaurants. We walked out of our room one morning and the room cleaning staff were having a cigarette outside of our room door. There was no way of escaping second hand smoke for the week, I was quite surprised this was ok on a family resort where many kids stayed. When we arrived to the hotel, we had to wait almost 3 hours for our room to be ready, and almost a hour for wifi as the wifi staff was on break.
The hall ways and common areas were not kept up daily. The floors and stairways were always so dirty with drink stains and hair/dust balls all over the place. There is no elevator to the second or third floors, and no offer of assistance to carry our luggage up the stairs. It was quite the drag to carry two 50lb luggage to the second floor along with the carry ons.

Upon entering the room, we noticed stains on the walls, ceilings and sheets. Finishing's in the washroom were horrible, the shower leaked all over the floor during a shower, there was paint all over the toilet, ceiling and floors that were not cleaned after the washrooms were painted. We were left with a small balance of toilet paper on the roll from the last guest. No new roll was left for us. There was no faceclothes, and towels were NEVER replaced once in our 8 days we were there. You had to use the same 2 musty smelling towels and beach towels the entire trip. The bed sheets were never replaced either. If you don't tip the room maids, they put bare minimum into your cleaning and replenishments. There was a fridge in the room that was empty upon our arrival, about 2 hours after settling we were given two bottles of water, a beer and two cans of pop. For the remainder of the trip, they only replenished the water.... and only if you tipped them. One morning, I forgot to leave tip money on the bed, so they didnt take the dirty coffee cup from my room. When I returned to my room that evening, there was a cockroach the size of my thumb swimming in the dirty coffee mug. There were what appeared to be blood stains splattered on the wall behind the bed and the ceiling above the bed.

The food was so bland and not appealing to even look at. The line ups in the buffet were 40 mins if you wanted some fish or chicken make fresh on he grill... this was daily. The pizza line was over a hour long daily. Same went for the morning Egg stations. They served the same food everyday, there was no variety at all. May days, the snack bar ran out of fries and hotdogs. There is no condiments, so bring your own of everything! Al a cartes book up fast, we stood in line for over half hour the day after we arrived (Wednesday) and couldn't get bookings for the ones we wanted and what we could get until Saturday and Sunday at 8:30pm.
In the buffet, there were cockroaches all over the chairs and tables. In the Italian Al a carte, the roaches were all over the floors and walls. We had to sleep with the lights on for the remainder 5 days to avoid roaches coming out.

The pools were NEVER cleaned once, water was never tested. Below the water lines, the pool walls were green, and there was scum floating along the water lines. There was cigarette butts everywhere. The beach was never cleaned, there was plastic cups, cigarettes and cigarette packages everywhere. It was full of garbage.

Do not buy from the vendor lady on the resort. She is a major rip off. My daughter bought 5 small bracelets and she charged her $41 CAD, they were selling the same bracelets at the vendors for $1.00 each. Its a shame! [Details]

Amazing Beach

My family of 4 had a good stay at the Grand Muthu. The staff was very helpful and worked hard to cope with the shortages.
The Room was well equipped and was clean although could have used some maintenance.
The food was good all week and the a la Carte restaurants were great.

Best Vacation Ever!!

OMG I don't know where to start. Everything from beginning to end was amazing. The hotel itself is beautiful and inviting. The grounds were very clean and well maintained. Our room was spotless. The staff throughout the resort were friendly, helpful and polite. The beach was breathtaking. The pools area did not disappoint. There was always someplace to sit and enjoy the sun or shade.

Jose Earnesto in the buffet greeted us every morning with a smile and fantastic service.

Favourite Place In Cuba!

I always said that I would never go to the same resort twice until I visited Grand Muthu. I just returned home from my 4th visit and once again had a wonderful stay. I love this place and here's why:

The grounds are wonderful. I am a pool person and these do not disappoint - they are beautiful and make a great backdrop for photos. The beach is also incredible - I enjoy going for walks down to the pier and back (it's a good walk).

The staff - the best in Cuba! Right from the start was a good experience. Marianne and the front desk staff welcomed us right away and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. Jose Ernesto and his team at the buffet are the best - always started our day with a smile and went out of their way to make our dining experience a great one! Ilen and Ilian from the entertainment staff are beautiful inside and out - they always made me feel welcome, and I looked forward to their announcements at the pool each morning. The lobby bar staff also made my trip memorable with delicious and picture worthy cocktails - thank you Janny and Dayi.

The food is great. The resort was at full capacity so there were lines at times but it really wasn't that bad, and I always left with a happy and full belly.

It is our first trip to Cuba .
I have been fortunate to be able to travel to many beautiful places. This trip is special .
The heart this resort staff has is so welcoming and beautiful to experience.
The food was as expected but after couple of days you can totally make do with the food choices .
We were so fortunate to meet many amazing people and staff members .
Never have had this kind of service before.
Roxana , Johana and the rest of the front desk ladies are so welcoming , knowledgeable and helpful .
Juan , Eric and the rest of the Beach bar crew are so fast, fun and upbeat . Their special drinks are fantastic.
Our servers Javier , Idel and Nivaldo were outstanding . Their smiles , attentive demeanour and friendship is making us feel like we are all a big family at the resort .
As far as entertainment goes we really enjoyed Abgiel's fun hosting and Elier's great energy .

Avoid peak times, bring CDN$ not US$, pamphlet

1st off: Staff are fantastic. Work harder than us CDNs & have a longer commute than we can imagine. And so kind & beautiful.
Shout out to Nadir in snack bar (always with a smile & a wink) and his lovely colleagues there (didn't catch all their names), Helen one of the entertainment staff, who graced us with a few poolside chats, and lovely Lia who was a server in 3 of the restaurants/bars - funny & cute as a button!

We went Dec 21-28. I will never go again over the Dec 24-26 period as it's over-crowded for dining. I nick-named it the "Savage Buffett" at the meal hall. Anyone there at that time will know what I mean. Long line ups, rude, hungry people. I came to conclude this had to do mostly with poor design of the main buffet layout, putting hand-grilled meats, fishes and pasta or omelets at the end of the U-shaped layout. Those wanting those items, created a backlog for those of us just wanting to get at the regular trays of food. It then resulted in rude, or polite diners barging in. But you had to do this, lest wait in line for 30 mins. Also, the main plates are in the wrong location. Add max capacity to the resort and the wait to get food was long & savage and the restaurant reservations were few to find. After Dec 26th, I noticed less people and a little more civilization at the buffet hall.

However, communication is very poor from the resort. This could be resolved very easily by providing a pamphlet with details on where beach is (it's not in front of pools, by gazebo, instead it's off to the right, past building 8), where to make restaurant reservations (not clear with that little table in lobby), different places to eat (snack bar by pool is 24/7 and serves breakfast & SeaSky on way to beach is 103, no reservation reqd - some didn't know that), times open, wifi instructions, bus to Playa Pilar beach, market that is 1 min walk outside gates, etc. Front desk has no time to tell you all this upon check in. Just provide a simple pamphlet.

Some reviews say there are bedbugs. Not there is not. My 2 sons shared a bedroom. One had little red dots on his legs & back, the other did not. If there were bedbugs, both of them would have had the marks. I believe one son just was more susceptible to fly bites, although, I never saw a single mosquito, and none of us had similar marks.

Pools are great, varying choices of what type of social person you are. Facilities are ok (it's Cuba) and I found the food quite decent (apart from lines) and you can't beat the Cuban coffee, especially a Spanish coffee.

Beach is great, beautiful turquoise, warm water, whitish sand, lots of loungers and shade if desired.

I did find it odd, not every bar has beer. Like Sports Bar has no beer, nor does the bar on the courtyard off the main dining room.

Final tips:
1) Bring CDN bills, like lots of $5s for tips (not ripped as bank rejects them). Don't be an idiot and use US $ as recently the Cuban govt changed things to make using US $ more difficult for residents. Also toonies & loonies are difficult for them to deposit. As such only use $5 tip every few trips to bar or if getting a pile of drinks. No need to tip $5 each time!
2) Ladies wearing makeup: there are no facecloths, so bring disposable facial cleansing cloths.
3) Bring only carry on luggage. The airlines are losing luggage left, right and centre!

I'd go again to this resort, but not when Dec 24-26 are in the mix! Probably not March break either. I gave it 3/5 bcs on the long lines for food. But now I know how to deal with it! [Details]

We enjoyed our stay at Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo! This was our first all inclusive vacation and we read many reviews, from many sites about Cuba before arriving. We were pleasantly surprised with the food and service as many people expressed concerns about food in Cuba. Work on the beach

Had an amazing experience at this resort! I went there to "work on the beach". The wifi connection was good the first two days in the room however after a whatsapp call, I couldn't access the wifi anymore as I believe I went over the limit. I had to open my hotspot which worked just as fine but had pay for the extra internet usage to my phone company. Will have to consider getting a better internet travel package for future trips.
I HIGHLY recommend everyone visit this resort. Its beautiful and its only 5 mins from Pilar beach. There is a bus schedule for pick up and it only cost $5 to go there and to come back. The beach is soft white sand with crystal clear water that you can see through. Its a MUST see! The staff is also really kind and sweet :) The BEST part was waking up for the sunrise and watching it come as I had my early morning cappuccino from the 24-hour open bar. The view was incredible. Horrible experience

We went to the Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo based on reviews online and we completely regret it. We arrived in the late evening service at the front was slow. The 24 hour bar was not even open to get some water. We finally settled in the next day there was a huge rat in our room at 4:00 am. We called reception to get some help and they said we will be there in 20 minutes. No one showed up for 30 minutes when they finally showed up they came with a broom and of course lost the rat. The individual suggested that the rat crawled through the sink pipes. Reception then called us to get an update and we notified them that the rat has not been caught. We then asked to switch rooms which they did. The following day we went to let the manager at the front know of the situation and out of respect we did this in private so others would not hear. First he said he can't believe this it has never happened. Then he continued to say well you are in the Caribbean this stuff can happen. We were completely shocked that he even thought that was a good reason. He then continued to say that our pipes have pills for rats and within three minutes they would die. We found this extremely frustrating and ironic to the point where we just wanted to leave. Our new rooms safe was not working. They came to fix it but the problem continued. When we escalated this to the front desk they took us in circles to get this resolved. We did not have beach towels in the room and again they made us go in circles to get the beach towels.
When it comes to the food yes you don't go to Cuba for the food but we were disappointed that lunch menu and dinner menu was the exact same. Breakfast started at 7:30 to 9:45. If you went for breakfast at 9:00 you would be lucky to even get some breakfast fed as there was no food. Same applies for lunch and dinner. The resort failed to cater to the amount of visitors. The selection was very poor with no labels. My partner and I don't eat pork or fish and we were always second guessing what was in the food.
In summary we had a horrible experience at this resort and was just counting down the days to leave. We will never go to this resort again as we were unhappy of the service provided and not even the manager tried to make things better. [Details]

We traveled as a family of 5 (2 adults 3 kids (9, 4 &2) ). We arrived to the resort around noon, there was quite a few of us going there (a whole bus full)..check in was slow and we were not greeted in anyway with music or drinks like we had seen during the week with other arrivals but that's okay. Now since we were early and check in is usually 4pm we knew our room probably wouldn't be ready which is was not. It wasn't ready until 5ish and we had 2 rooms..kinda inconvenient when my youngest was exhausted and needed a nap so she napped in the lobby which was fine.

The lobby is one of the biggest I've seen and this is our 3rd trip to Cuba but first time at this resort.

The rooms are spacious and beds were comfy. They provided a playpen for my youngest which was great. In our one room the shower was slightly crazy and was spraying up to the ceiling and out onto the bathroom floor so we used the other one in the other room which was fine minus some water leaking out the shower door which was fine with towels down. Never had an issue receiving clean new towels in our rooms and had plenty of toilet paper.

The beach was lovely, we only walked down to it 2x as we aren't beach people but it was clean and the ocean was warm. Also on the way to the beach be sure to grab a coconut at the little stand on the way :)

The pools were clean and warm especially the little pool closest to the lobby (it's the smallest) it was like a bath tub so it was relaxing. I enjoyed doing water aerobics with Helen in the infinity pool.

The food.. well you don't go to Cuba for the food but we never had any issues finding things to eat, fresh eggs in the morning with bread and fruits. Chicken and beef on the grill at lunch and dinner. Rice stir fry, fish, and much more. It was all good. My kids are picky and they enjoyed it. We also went to the snack bar a few times and enjoyed the ham and cheese sandwiches. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the churros from the churro stand and we never had to wait in some "crazy" line it was always quick and we give him credit he's by himself and can only make so many at once :) they were delicious!

The entertainment was great at night, my kids enjoyed the mini disco every night and the shows after were great too! During the day the entertainers do games around the main pool and have music playing.

There is a market on site about a 4 minute walk from the lobby they have quite a few stands and good deals. You'll definitely find something for everyone!

Overall it was a great week and we would definitely return and recommend to others. [Details]

Great resort! Beautiful pools and beach!

The hotel was great. Nice big lobby, newer rooms. Pools were big and beautiful. Beach was gorgeous. Free wifi was good but a bit of a weak connection at times. The only thing that maybe bothered us were the buffets for dinner. The food wasn't very kid friendly but there were occasional options that worked. Go with an open-mind. Cuba maybe having some shortages. It really is good value for a nice resort. [Details]

Very nice place 4 star plus, lobby bar crew were always fabulous no matter what day or time ,the great part they always treated you nice ,tip or not
Same goes with the restaurant next to the beach and the fabulous Alex in the sports bar.
A few things the resort could work on . Would be the buffet restaurant, the food was good but with out say to much.
We observed a few things we did like in the buffet restaurant ( evening service) .
we then started to stay away from some areas of the restaurant.
The beach was great and service was great throughout the resort.

Not what we expected

We had issues when we checked in. Had to PAY the maintenance guy to fix our AC before the next day. No water or beverages in mini bar. Called front desk and they got upset because it wasn't them I was supposed to call. Who knew! Forgot to leave a tip one day for the cleaners when we had to leave in a hurry for an excursion - they retaliated by not cleaning our rooms at all. We ended up with zero bath towels and used pool towels instead by the third day in. Stood at multiple bars with no service until we had a bill in our hand. Felt like we had to pay again for a trip we already paid for and that we had been blacklisted because we complained about not having AC or drinking water in our room when we arrived (not as advertised). Food was what we expected however Indian Restaurant was food from buffet. Should have just closed it if they don't have the spices! Italian restaurant was really good. No chairs left by pool or beach. Lots of upset people sitting on concrete, including us. Just sat in our room for most of pool days due to lack of seating. We were glad to go home which is unfortunate. This was our third and now final trip to Cuba. We understand that a lot has changed but we expected better service from this establishment. Most people on our flight felt the same way which is sad because there were a lot of people working their butts off. Also service at the beach bar was terrible! Got completely ignored and overlooked until I had money in hand. So much for tipping for great service - it seemed like staff expected to be tipped first. I guess this is a result of being closed for a couple of years, but we were grossly overcharged for what we experienced. Thank goodness for great excursions away from the resort!! [Details]

We haven't had any complaints about the service at the buffet or the pool and right now we are working with shortage of staff. Anyways all our guests opinions are valid and I will be seeing this matter with the Food and Beverages Manager because there is always room for improvements. I have also analyzed the food notes with our Chef, because we are normally getting good reviews about our food selection, but as I previously said, there is always room for improvements. I deeply apologize again for falling short of your expectations and hope this don't deter you from visiting us again in the near future.

This resort has a stunning view of the pools and ocean right from the lobby! There is a separate kids pool ping bucket of water. Bring your own beach towels and you won't have to worry about getting some by the pool. Of course the early birds get to save their favorite spots, so join in and find a spot early. Clean, great rooms and just ask for whatever you want in your mini fridge. If you are low on something, don't complain about it just ask. The gazebo by the ocean is a great spot for pictures, and always has a breeze. The most amazing long sandy beach is just to the right side of the resort with a beach bar etc. This is definitely a 5 star for Cuba. The lunch beach buffet has freshly made pizza. The SENDERO restaurant is an absolute must! It is an oasis amongst the trees by the ocean. Expect to spend a couple hours enjoying each entre one by one, all hand made just for you by Felix Alexis. The most incredible savory food on the resort (homemade bruchetta, shrimp, fish, lobster, pork). The buffet and a la cartes are all air conditioned. A nice cigar bar, and sports bar that serve different drinks to enjoy there, not for take out. There is a small market right at the entrance of the resort with a bowling alley, spa and couple stores and vendors. Travellers need to do your research before coming to Cuba. You need to understand where they get supplies from and how the infrastructure works. When areas of the world are in crisis it affects Cuba's ability to receive products they need. This is not a fault of the resorts or Cuba. Be patient. You may notice not many food choices for one day then lots the next day. It's Cuba. Also be creative, you can take the vegetables you like from the salad bar, get some chicken cooked fresh, bring a glass of white wine to the pasta bar and they will add it all together for a great hot steamy pasta plate! No OJ but fresh pineapple or guava juice. Bring your own spices if you wish.
Canadians, don't exchange your money. Use Canadian cash. If you tip with $1or $2 coins be prepared to help out the staff by exchanging them for larger bills. Cuba banks will not accept our coins. Also they won't take a bill that has been written on or has a tear in it. [Details]

The staff!! Especially Addiel! Also Alberto Danny, Claudias and Henry to name a few! They work so hard just to make your stay the most enjoyable. Anything you want or need just ask.
The weak points
Stop complaining, it's beautiful Cuba. Remember where you are. No water one afternoon Why? A water main broke. It happens.
