The beach is amazing, some staff are nice like the servers in the buffet and pool bartenders. But some staff, like the front desk workers, act like you are bothering them when you approach them. We had the same dirty white towels for days. I asked for extra bottled water and never got it. We had to share two thin blankets for 4 people, they wouldn't give us any extra. The food in the buffet is terrible. We ate Hot Dogs every day for lunch at the snack bar but they don't have any condiments. I was hoping to enjoy some cocktails on my vacation but they don't have anything to make anything good. Wifi only worked for me in the lobby in the morning. Entertainment staff only acknowledge you if you are young and partying. No fun activities/exercising on the beach like the resort next door. This is our 5th time in Cuba and by far the worst stay, but we made the best of it. [Details]
At first arriving it was beautiful! Had to wait almost 4hrs for our room as check in is 4pm and we arrived shortly before noon. Walked into our room and the smell of mold and mustiness hit our faces. Asked the workers who brought our luggage along with the front desk about it and was given the story about it being the air conditioning and humidity. My husband gotten eaten alive in our room. Didn't bother going to the beach to end up getting eaten by sand fleas. Buffet was the same food and smelled and tasted like fish. Limited selection and didn't taste good at all. Would not recommend this resort to anyone [Details]

Weather was excellent. Resort grounds were well maintained. The resort is "dated" and not everything works. The phone in the room would not ring but I could call out. The shower head had a lot of calcium build up. The water was warm and never hot. The rooms were not cleaned everyday and cleaning when done was minimal and water was given by request only. Food was adequate, ran out of cheese on day 4. There were line ups for the buffet lunch and buffet dinner every day. The staff for the most part was very slow and not as friendly as they have been previous visits. It was almost as if there wasn't anybody overseeing the operations of the resort. The service was amazing on Valentine day. I found out later that the owners were on site. No issues with airport or air transportation. [Details]

First off, I want to say how amazingly beautiful this beach is. First time at a smaller resort. Has its charm. Rooms are ok... But it is Cuba. Distance to everything is short walks Not miles away. Stayed in bungalow #1. Was decent. Bed not as comfy as home, but not the worst. The staff are Amazing! Especially Daniella at the pool bar! And ALL the entertainment team. Had a small issue with ( non valuable) unimportant things taken from maid, even though I left many gifts aside. So that was a bummer and not cool ( No value .. dollar store razor/ shampoo sample) That being said..... I still would come back again. The beach and rest of staff were well worth the return trip. It's one of the closest resorts to the airport. ( 15-20 min) great value at this resort! [Details]

We had an amazing time at Hotel Playa Paraiso. Stayed in building 3 , room 3305 with an ocean view. This was our first visit to Cuba so we only booked 1 week . Ended up wanting to stay longer. One highlight was our housekeeper Kisbel . She went out of her way to make everything perfect. We felt like family by the end of our holiday. The best way to describe our stay would be to say we are already looking into going back. [Details]

To whom it may concern
We are from Canada. We have been visitors of your resort from January 25th to February 5th 2023.
We have been delighted to met Ms. Liesy Perez , Carlos, Roberto Danielis Elianis at multiple occasions performing her duty at the Bistro 24hrs and the Native Central pool bar.
The way they interact with all of there customers deserve an award!
They're's smiling to everyone, having a professional attitude toward every person they granted with there great level of service. They're knowledgable of customer care. Their expertise as a waitress/Waiter and a bar tender is to a level that should be considered as a standard for an 4 stars location like yours.
These person should be an exemple to all of your staff.

Poor poor customer service

We arrived in Cayo Coco on the evening of October 8th 2022 and checked into the resort we had booked. Playa Paraiso. Once arriving to our rooms the smell / visual of mold, broken tiles laying around, blood in the bedding were to name just a few things in our room. We were also shocked to find the room looked nothing like the website. We went to the front desk to speak to the representative working that evening and because of the time of evening we were told they would show us a different room in the morning between 9-9:30 am. Morning came & the gentleman that said he would help us in the morning, saw us but then avoided us, wouldn't come anywhere near us so we could discuss the room. In fact he was missing in action the entire time we tried to get things worked out. We went to the front desk and spoke to a lady working the desk. Explained our concern and that we were to be shown a different room this morning. Her response to us was you need to contact your Rep. Even after telling her a gentleman we spoke with last evening said we would be shown a different room and he is here can we speak with him…he is busy. Knowing the the rep wasn't coming to this resort until noon. we asked for a number to the rep. She replied with we don't have those numbers. .We tried to talk to the lady to get her to help us but no luck - poor poor customer service. We tried to use the app on our cell to contact a rep but that was getting us no where. After wasting almost 2 hours getting no where we asked to transfer to a different resort and got told we couldn't. Which is untrue, I've been going to Cuba for 10 years and have seen lots of people transfer within resorts. The front desk lady was just not willing to offer us any help at all.
We did finally get a transfer to another resort but not with the help of this resort ! All they did was try to make things so much more difficult than it needed to be. I have travelled to Cuba many many times, my standards are not high, but I do expect to be treated with the same Respect that I give on each and every visit. We will not be recommending this resort to any family or friends nor will we return to this resort [Details]

We did our due diligence online by visiting websites, YouTube etc. When we arrived we were informed our rooms are the best at the resort with an ocean view. Checking into the room there was excessive mold along with a strong mould odour. Floor tiles were cracked and missing, but to top it all off there was blood on towels, walls, lampshades everywhere. Totally disgusting. We then went to the lobby to have a drink and I could barely drink it, way too much booze, 90% booze and 10% mix. We were tired and rested for the night. The next morning we went for breakfast. I would have rather eaten out if a garbage can. In less than 24 hours we had to get out!!! We voiced our concerns to the front desk and was completely ignored. Very rude and non helpful. We were told this was our airlines carrier problem and had to talk to the rep. Little did they know we already was in contact with managers of another resort we previously stayed at.( they were suppose to be closed until November but opened early). We were told a sales rep would have no trouble getting us a transfer to another resort. When we asked for the sales manager, guess who comes out of the back. The same rude person we originally talked to. As we found out later she was not the sales rep, the sales rep was off for the day, and was married to our airline carrier rep. After a few hours of arguing the second resort made the changes happen. Playa parisio would not answer emails or phone calls. This is the worst travel experience I have ever had. [Details]

The front desk staff are horribly rude and not helpful when there is an issue ( ie we had no hot water, complained to the front desk and 3 hours later had to find the hot water pipes ourselves and turn the hot water back on). They ignore guests, roll their eyes at guests with complaints, never follow up on issues or complaints, whisper to each other and stare at guests. They could use some customer service training. Lobby bar waitresses, bar staff, buffet workers, Portuguese and Italian a la carte workers, groundskeepers are all phenomenal, friendly and helpful. Cuban a la carte wait staff are rude (upon arriving for our reservation, we waited 10 mins to be seated, with only 2 other tables occupied. We then waited an additional 10 mins to be asked our drink order. Waitress was rude and not helpful with our questions about the menu. She failed to inform us about items missing from the menu until we were placing our order. Huge disappointment). Room is dated but we just needed a bed to sleep in so we didn't mind. Make sure you hold the towel rack when entering or exiting the shower. It's a big step over the side of the tub. But aside from those, overall, the resort is great. Everything is within close proximity of the rooms and main lobby. It is clean. Beach is beautiful. There is limited entertainment but we tended to make our own with friends we met there. Drinks were good. Food was decent. The pizza at the beach is delicious. Skip the coffee at breakfast and have fresh made cappuccino at the lobby bar. You'll thank me [Details]

The staff attends to the locals first. If you are in line and a local comes up they go straight to helping them. No water in room daily.

I'd say about 75% not all staff kept marks on or enforced masks in buffet. They did make you wash your hands to enter. Servers at bar held cups on the rim with their hands.

This was my third time at this resort and I highly recommend it! The first time was as a family with our 14 year old and 20 year old sons. The second was just hubby and I. And the third time was a girls trip with myself and two other ladies. They were all amazing vacations in their own way! This resort is perfect for any type of getaway! I have been to Cuba about 14 times and this is the only resort I have gone to this many times and I will continue to return! [Details]

This was an older resort. Appears to have never been updated. Main entrance fountain not working for some time. While I stayed for only 7 days. My toilet stopped working, lost hot water 3 out of 7 days. Poor water pressure for 5 days. I had 2 beds in my room, both mattresses were terrible. Woke up in to much discomfort the second day and asked reception to change it. I think they just flipped it over it never got much better. Dinning was also poor. Every night should have been in separate restaurants. But with no reason given they changed 3 nights into buffet in one room for all. Not good during Covid. No Covid rules were ever explained for dinning. Food service, quality, supplies and quantity also poor. Limited fresh fruit and all juice very watered down, this was surprising. No beach towel exchange. Only if you could find and speak to a maid. [Details]

Ils peuvent discuter de nourriture, de boissons... mais lorsqu'on sort des discussions de service (What would you like to drink ?, How are you ?, etc), ça devient plus difficile. À moins que votre espagnol soit bien à niveau. Le mien ? Il ne l'est pas ! ;)

The strong points
Beautiful beach. Beach staff were very helpful to provide us with chairs.
The gardens look lovely.
All the staff are very friendly and polite.
Very nice hotel rooms. Everything worked well.
Snack bar is great.
Plenty of bars and good drinks
The weak points
The mattress was hard and the sheets do not fit the king size bed. It could use a mattress pad.
Guests should respect the dress codes at the restaurants. No hats or shorts!
A-La-Carte Restaurant menu items did not fully represent what we were given eat.
Dear Mark Edwards

I have never written a review because more often than not, I have found that most of the reviews people share are solely based on complaints. This review however, is the exact opposite. I love Cayo Coco…mostly for the sun, sand, and crystal clear water; but, the resorts have so much more to offer. In my travels, I have discovered that Cuban people are some of the kindest people in the world, and a smile is offered everywhere in this beautiful country. I have travelled to Cayo Coco multiple times over the past few years; in the past year alone, I have visited both Memories Flamenco and Playa Parasio for four separate weeks. Although there are little things that seem to bother some people, I do not have a single complaint…these little things, are seriously little things! On the last day of my most recent trip, I became very ill. Throughout the week, I had been drinking an excessive amount of water to stay hydrated and did not realize that in doing so, I was flushing too much sodium from my body…who would have ever thought that drinking too much water could be a bad thing. Upon arrival to the airport, I became very dizzy and lethargic. The captain of the flight along with his attendants, determined that I was too sick to travel and required medical attention before I could be safely cleared to travel home to Toronto. I was removed from the aircraft and transferred by ambulance to a local medical clinic to be assessed. Justly so, I was very scared! Having travelled to Cayo Coco a number of times however, I have made friendships with many wonderful people…and in this situation, I could not have been more grateful for these friends. As per my request to the representative at the airport, Jimenez Menes. I asked to be transferred to Playa Parasio once release from the clinic. I contacted my friends' - Mr. Ubisnel Saavedra, Mr. George Fernandez, Adia Tamayo , Ronny Rivas, Alienn Zamora at Playa Parasio and Yailyn Lopez at Memories Flamenco - to explain the situation and notify them that I would be returning to the hotel that evening. Allien was in the lobby of Playa Parasio waiting for when the ambulance arrived; Adia stayed with me to be sure I was okay; Ronny's love and concern will never be forgotten; and, Yailyn travelled from Memories Flamenco to Playa Paraiso at 6:00am, to check on myself and offer her assistance. These kind individuals went above and beyond, sharing so much love, compassion, and concern; whatever I needed, they did without question. And not to mention, on both Ubisnel and George's day off. Ubisnel worked with the representative, Lester, to make arrangements for a flight home at the soonest time possible, he called several times to be sure my care was being looked after, while George contacted me regularly for updates on my condition and stayed in constant communication with the hotel nurse, Anita; Anita checked on me hourly, alongside Dr. Yoany Martinez. Jimenez, rep, was at airport and assisted with departure details. Upon arriving home, I went to Canadian hospital. The attending emergency doctor was very impressed with the care and treatment I had received in Cayo Coco. After a few days of being home, I am happy to say that I am beginning to feel better but I am left with a few thoughts regarding negative travel reviews… Firstly, how can people base their poor reviews and negative comments on sheets not being changed daily…I would bet, that you don't change your sheets daily while at home. Secondly, broken glass around a pool…it's not the hotel staff taking or braking the glasses poolside. And lastly, weather, nature, and bugs in the grass...Mother Nature folks, those things are out of a resort's control. The names mentioned above have always extended the most professional and outstanding service and now life long friendship. Yet there are so many more names I haven't mentioned at these two resorts. Memories Flamenco, Gabrielle and Pascual, boys at the beach. Yanela and Zoe, lobby bar. Yarelys and Yirenia, snack bar. Yailyn Lopez, reception, is one of the most helpful, kind, hard working individuals I know. Playa Parasio, I need to include Pinky, David, Jorge, Mary. There are so many great people always happy to help [Details]

Had a great week. Staff are great and beach is amazing. Resort has a few flaws but if let that wreck your week thats your problem. Biggest complaint was check in for us. Told us to come back at certain times and at third return they told us people in room had late check out. I would of been much happier if I was told this right away instead of giving times and getting annoyed but got over that quickly. Other than that front desk staff were great. [Details]

Check in and our mattress was not good at all. We had bad luck at Al a cartes we tried. Waited forever at Italian to be seated and for service. At Cuban we were served bread then long wait and served main course, Totally forgot to serve our appetizers

Nice Beach, Bad food, Long Lines

The beach, pool and weather was lovely. The food was mediocre to bad. Things felt very disorganized, especially if you're an English speaker. There are no written materials about how things work and where things are. Be prepared for very long food lines if you want anything prepared at a station. For pizza near the beach you could be waiting over an hour. We had ants and cockroaches in our room, a toilet that never stopped running and two sinks that would not drain. However, the view from our room was lovely. The staff were all very nice, although many did not speak English which made communication difficult. Do not go outside at dusk without a lot of mosquito repellent. Overall, I wouldn't go back, but loved the water and sunshine. [Details]

Overall for the price it was not a bad resort. There were many little things that could be done to improve the atmosphere and appearance. Like bathrooms at the beach. Better beach maintenance (shells and coral in the sand). Better theatre shows. A drink menu and a drink of the day. Better beds and pillows. Free internet. [Details]

We are a family of four and we were amazed by the beautiful beach. It is a quiet place, no loud partying what we liked the most, the staff was nice, if there was an issue they solved it very fast. Our kids loved the variety of food they were offering especially ice cream, poutine, cheeseburgers and hotdogs! [Details]

First time in Cayo Coco and at The Hotel Paraiso. Enjoyed our stay, food was quite good with a good variety of hot and cold dishes in the main buffet restaurant however there was no bread available at lunch time or in the evening at the buffet restaurant. The Italian, Portuguese, and Cuban a la carte restaurants were satisfactory. Staff was always friendly and ready to help and had a positive attitude. The buffet staff were quite attentive. Rooms need some upgrade but were clean. Bathrooms in lobby area were not always very clean. Cuba is a cigar producing country but we should not have to endure the constant smoke blown in our face and the heavy smell of cigarette and cigar smell in all the common areas, lobby, theater, and pool. We could not enjoy most entertainment events for this reason. The mini-bar is never stocked and only a daily bottle of water is supplied in the rooms, however we had to often call to get the water and many people were quite frustrated as they did not get any at all and none of the bars have bottled water. Overall a satisfactory stay and would return. [Details]

The strong points
Food better than expected. Beach area is great. Can walk several KM either direction. Great staff. Close to airport.
The weak points
Difficult to find an area in the lobby, in the theater or in pool area without getting cigarette and cigar smoke in your face. A lot of bugs once gets dark. Only 1 restaurant/bar on the beach.
Dear Traveler. Thank you for your review and for choosing our hotel. I'm happy that you
enjoyed your stay and I'm looking forward to having you again as a guest in our hotel.
Not great
Absolute Garbage
Could've done better
Food was adequate, ran out of cheese on day 4. There were line ups for the buffet lunch and buffet dinner every day. The staff for the most part was very slow and not as friendly as they have been previous visits. It was almost as if there wasn't anybody overseeing the operations of the resort.
The service was amazing on Valentine day. I found out later that the owners were on site.
No issues with airport or air transportation. [Details]

Amazing beach!
Not miles away. [Details]

Please feel free to reach out if you need more information.

Overall good
Poor poor customer service
Run…run fast!!!
[Details]
BEAUTIFUL BEACH BUT LOW BUDGET SERVICE

Overall 7/10

Ils peuvent discuter de nourriture, de boissons... mais lorsqu'on sort des discussions de service (What would you like to drink ?, How are you ?, etc), ça devient plus difficile. À moins que votre espagnol soit bien à niveau. Le mien ? Il ne l'est pas ! ;)
