 Great time!

This hotel was conveniently located close to the airport in Vieux Fort which was great. Check-in was smooth and quick, rooms were clean and simple. Food at the buffet was really good, vegetarians would be pleased if you are not too picky. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is always some form of entertainment at night, and there is a great selection of tours to choose from.

 Excellent week of Relaxation!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this resort. It was a shock to arrive at the hotel only after a one minute drive from the airport! Stayed mostly on the Harmony side, but walked the rest of the property occasionally. The $250 room credit is a very nice touch especially when you can use it for tours! The staff is awsome and especially enjoyed Maclee and Aikon (aka Ryan). The rooms are older but well kept and they are constantly updating areas. It's a good location to see the southern attractions such as the Pitons, volcano, botanical gardens. Will definately be back to St. Lucia to explore more northerly.

Very pleasant and relaxing experience. Emjoyed it very much. Quiet but enough going on to keep from getting bored. A vacation in my opinion is what you make it.

 Review

The resort is good, the staff are gracious and courteous. Slides and pools fun for young kids. However this is not somewhere to go is you wish to swim in the sea or snorkel. The beach is unprotected from the Atlantic ocean and wind which blows constantly. No-one braved the ocean. Evening entertainment is poor but the island is a delight and one can travel to the Caribbean sea to snorkel and swim. There is adventure with the excursions and much to see. The major attraction is that the travel time to and from the airport is minutes compared with the stomach churning transfer to the caribbean sea resorts. My advice is have deep pockets, pay for a helicopter transfer and stay on the Caribbean sea side of this gorgeous Island.

Without high expectations - not the best place...

First off, when reading this review, know that we are seasoned travellers who usually travel to 4-5 star hotels. This one rated as a four is really more like a 3.5. There are some real issues to consider prior to booking this resort. Some staff - very nice, some could care less if you enjoy your stay. This resort is a bit of a circus atmosphere, unless you stay at the adult side. The adult side is nice, but very tiny pool. If you want to do any real swimming where you are not in a VERY tiny pool, you are forced to hang out in "wonderland" set up for kids. The resort has fairly poor food and selection (not everything - but in general. We are professional people who dress very well. One of the members of our party was turned away at a restaurant as he only had dress shorts. He was clean cut, tucked and immaculate looking. His pants were wet from the 3 days of rain that we had. This was the only resort I had ever been to that treated well dressed patrons like this. I'm all for keeping things formal over dinner, but this was extreme. There should always be some room for exceptions. A comment made in passing by one of our party members resulted in her being harassed by an employee to write a letter to correct herself. We didn't want anything to do with it and it resulted in us having to leave that area of the resort feeling a little under fire. In my opinion if someone makes a comment about something to staff about an issue, that issue should be taken up with management, and not harrass the innocent guests for clairity, for two days. After traveling to many countries and staying at many resorts, I can honestly say that this is the first that I have been to where the following happened. Every single time anyone from our party had a drink that was syrup based, we ended up with chest pain for exactly 20-30 minutes each time. This resulted in us staying with Piton beer (which was quite good) or spirits and pop without any flavours added. We mentioned this to them, hopefully they will change whatever it was they were serving to guests. If you weren't there with a group, you might not realise what it was. We had the bennift of seeing several people go through it, and therefore could peg down the problem. The wind is constant at this resort, so be prepared. Sometimes it offered relief, sometimes it kept people away from the beach. (sand in eyes - can't hold book or papers - or just made it cold - and normally I am not someone who gets cold easily) Three a la carte restaurants - Itallian (Not good - honestly - It is the beach bar and grill turned into Itallian at night) Creole - OK food - servers were very nice - but minimal portions and needs more variety. - Silks - Aisan - Just OK - mostly breaded supermarket style foods) Buffett - is a buffett. The upstairs lounge and disco is two things. 1 - great bar service from "the Joker" - bartender. He does a good job a keeping people happy, but the Disco itself is a little dull. There was really no one there but us every night. Some - not all, but some of the staff seem to behave in an unprofessional way when it comes to dancing with the guests. I witnessed a few of them hip grinding up against married men and women. Not really appropriate. The main lunch grill and the two main larger pools were ALWAYS subject to REALLY loud music. I'm youngish, and like music, but I felt like I couldn't get away from it. I would also imagine that if you were staying on the splash side the music being so close and loud would keep napping children awake. We spoke to a few people who had reserved the adult side and were put on the children's side. They have donkeys at this resort that are tied to palm trees. They are constantly getting tangles between trees leaving them on a short rope, not long enough to get to the "empty" water dishes left randomly. It took 4 days to get something that we were requesting each day to our room. Each day was 1-2 calls. The beach grill ladies were very nice and happy to see their guests. No pool is over 4 feet in depth. The lazy river is about 3 fee max. Over all, St. Lucia is a pretty island, but I would not be back to this resort for the above reasons - even for a good price.

 Windy Resort

Loved the hotel, food and drinks. The resort is very windy being on the East side of the island and because of that I wouldn't go back.

Great location for family or couples

This is not the newest resort on the island but everything was clean and well maintained. The staff was great and the location was so handy, only 10 min. from airport and still peaceful and relaxing. Great place for families or couples. Fun water slides and several pools to choose from. We only did the buffet but never failed to please our pallets, lots of food and variety. Would definitively go back.

 Perfect!!!!

This resort was wonderful. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Beach was great, there was some seaweed on the shore but they did there best to clean it up everyday, This did not affect us in the least. water was clean with sandy bottom. No creatures in the water to worry about.

Lots of pools to choose from. This would be great to bring the kids, we did not but would consider it for next time. The water slides (2 of them) were fun, and lazy river was nice to float around in when it got to hot.
The adult pool was quite no music, or kids. Not as many chairs so get there early to get one.

Food was great, lots of selection you will not go hungery.

We recommend zipline and snorkling trips. They were the only trips we took
but they were great.

The island is very beautiful, and scenic with lots to look at.
I can not say enough good things about this place.

Bartenders are great, Small J, Akon, Fatta, they make great dirty banana's. You must try one.

We took the walking tour with Kuwana in to the closest town, it was a long walk so if you are not into walking this is not for you. we found it very good and interesting. The locals do not bug you and are very friendly. We wish we had gone on the walk up the hill but missed it. (next time)

 Week In Paradise

We chose St. Lucia to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary and were not sorry that we did. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. All staff were extremely friendly, open and caring. Questions were answered promptly and with a smile. (Great group of people from the operations manager on down). Grounds were very clean (even with the renovations going on). Our room (adult side of the complex) with an ocean view couldn't be better. Every morning when we woke up, we could see the ocean. Friendships were made that will last a lifetime. Would definitely go back without a moment's hesitation. Strongly recommend for all those considering a trip to St. Lucia.

 Fantastic Family Vacation!

We went with our two teenagers for a fabulous stay at the Coconut Bay Resort! The location was perfect with only a quick drive from the airport and near to horseback riding. All excursions left from the hotel and were easy to arrange. There were many activities each day and we all definitely enjoyed our stay!

 Coconut Bay Resoirt

This hotel is situated very close to the airport - approx. 5 minutes. Which is absolutely GREAT - the vacation starts as soon as you land ! No waiting or long bus rides . . .We enjoyed waving "good bye" to the 5 or 6 flights that left in the afternoon/early evening. Considering the location very little noise associated to arriving/departing aircraft. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The variety and quality of the food is the best we have seen in comparison to the other resorts we have stayed at in the Carribean. There is something for everyone ! The Lazy River & water slides were an added bonus and so much fun, for those who are big kids at heart. Over-all a wonderful experience at this hotel, and we hope to go there again (many times) in the future.

 St. Lucia Holiday

We enjoyed ourselves and found the staff helpful and polite. Our room was clean and our bed was comfortable. The food was good and the desserts were delicious. It was nice that the ride from the airport to the hotel is about 10 minutes. The only part about our experience that was not great was the large amount of kids at this resort. If I had young kids I would definately go to this resort. It seems very kid friendly. Overall it was a good experience.

 COCONUT BAY

HAD A GREAT TIME AT COCANUT BAY. LOVED THE PROXIMETY TO THE AIRPORT. GARDENVIEW ROOM. FURNITURE A LITTLE TIRED BUT ACCEPTABLE. BATHROOM WAS UPDATED LATELY...VERY NICE. WE BO0KED THE LOWEST PRICE POINT WHICH PUT US IN SPLASH SIDE BUT WE WERE GIVEN A ROOM IN THE HARMONY SIDE. NO WRIST BANDS SO YOU CAN GO WHERE EVER YOU WANT ON THE RESORT. YOU CAN BE IN THE MIDST OF ALL THE ACTIVITIES OR AT THE ADULT POOL AND BAR THAT IS VERY RELAXING AND QUIET. VERY WINDY BEING ON THE ATLANTIC COAST BUT THERE ARE SECLUDED AREAS TO KEEP THE WIND AT BAY. FOOD WAS GOOD AND ALWAYS A GOOD VARIETY AVAILBLE. THERE WAS A BEACH GRILL OPEN FROM 09:00 UNTIL 01:00 SO YOU COULD ALWAYS GET SOMETHING TO EAT DAY OR NIGHT. VARIETY OF POOLS AND A GREAT WATERSLIDE. LOADS OF CHAIRS. STAFF WERE AWESOME. NO ATTITUDES THERE. ROOM WAS ALWAYS CLEAN WITH LOTS OF TOWELS. WOULD RECOMMEND TO COUPLES AS WELL AS FAMILIES.BEACH WAS GOOD AND RAKED DAILY BECAUSE OF BIG SURF. TWO A LA CARTS, BOTH EASY TO GET INTO. GOOD SERVICE, GOOD FOOD. INTERNATIONAL DRINK VARIETY WAS MORE THAN ACCEPTABLE. FOUR STAR AS FAR AS WE ARE CONCERNED.

 Not great, not awful either...

This resort is old and dated. My biggest complaint is that it was not clean....We went down to the pool in the am one morning to find a half eaten pork chop under the lounge chair. The pools are not cleaned daily and do get really dirty. The staff were fine, and the food was okay as well. We loved the island itself, and may return, but will definitely not stay at Coconut Bay again.

 Coconut Bay

We had a nice vacation but this resort is older. St. Lucia is a beautiful country and we did the catamaran land and sea tour which was very expensive but next time I would be comfortable to book directly with the resort and not even listen to what the airline agent has to say that their tour is better. We took a taxi and went to downtown Vieux Fort and we felt safe. I would expect the food at the Ala Carte to be better but we enjoyed the buffet. They however have to start labelling the food at the buffet properly. If you have rice we would assume their is no sausage in rice but please label your food properly. You have vegetarians and people who do not eat pork/meat and I almost throw up. The entertainment was exceptional and it started early so the kids can enjoy. The Theme Dinners (Pirates/Western) under the stars with the live band was great. Room credit so you can shop in the gift shop or do a massage was a very nice touch. We used ours to have a massage for our anniversary day. I was very dissappointed with the beach but I went to the beach only to fly my kite and take a walk with my 4 year old son. Waterpark and Splash park for kids was nice and the lazy river. I was very upset when I realised that we did not have a fridge in our room and no bottle water. They told us the water is safe yet the airline recoomends that you use bottle water. The resort give bottle water to the adults section but not the section that needs it most - the ones with young kids and families. I know the cost for both section is the same so do not even try to say that they to pay more for that service. I was asked to pay $20 USD per night for the fridge to store the water that I had to buy while another section is getting it for free. This is a very bad management decision. Every one knows it is hard to travel with kids and then you have to keep going back and fort to buy water and you have to get to the gift shop before it closes. No tubs in the bathroom for families with young kids.
They serve only brown eggs. Not sure if there is a difference but ...... Overall it was a nice vacation
I gave the resort 6/10
My husband 7/10

 Coconut Bay Review

Hotel needs a face lift in several areas. A new coat of paint in several areas would even help. The buffet area needs a lot of work; tables are lop-sided, some chairs in the back area have upholestered seats which are stained terribly and the legs on these same chairs are rusted, with the top protective surface chipped all over. The chairs look pretty scary if you take the time to take a look. The atmosphere in the buffet is drab, and really quite uninviting, again fresh paint colors in nice tones could remedy this. The rooms need some fresh paint, in pleaasing tones as well. Soiled seating pads on a loveseat in the room needed changing or cleaning at best. Rooms quite uninviting in general. Many good things about this resort however. Food in buffet area was varied enough. Some items good with some questionable, but that is consistent with buffets in general. Breakfasts always quite good. The Italian a la carte restaurant was very good. The Asian restaurant had very good appetizers, with the main course meal being just okay; quite like a stir fry. A good selection of food for people with children of varying ages. I think this resort really caters to families well, with the kids being entertained constantly, and enjoying themselves greatly. All I saw were very happy children! Alcoholic beverages were varied and abundant for those who wished to indulge. The best thing about this resort was the ENTERTAINMENT! I have been to numerous places, and have never seen such a good quality of entertainment in general. I don't know if this was due to the jazz festival set to start in a couple of weeks or what. Usually there were a couple of acts on during the evening in different areas. Some of the musicians were top notch. Beach was okay. Pool areas really quite nice. Distance from tours made getting there impossible when minimum requirements of people for a tour not met. We took private transportation on several occasions, so we could see other parts of the island, but the transportation costs were very high. It probably would be nice if the hotel offered more shuttle services to areas at a reasonable cost, so more people could see the island. (Especially if the weather was not beach weather, as we encountered during our stay).

 Great family vacation!!!

The resort, staff, food, rooms were all great. Waterslides are fun, lazy river is lazy and that's perfect when you're on vacation. We had no complaints and would gladly recommend this resort for a fun, family vacation. The kids areas are fantastic, the resort is small enough that you can let the kids wander on their own without worry and never run out of things to do. Entertainment and outdoor barbeques were awesome. If you like to swim in the ocean this may not be the place for you as the water is murky and rough on the Atlantic side but if lounging on the beach and being literally steps away from the pool areas works for you then you will not regret your decision to visit this resort.

 Great time at Coconut Bay

I am not sure where some of these other people were because after reading the reviews I was a little concerned. They were mistaken. This was a great place. There was entertainment everynight in fact two nights the entire dining room is moved outside for CW night and Pirate night with entertainment and outdoor grills. There was plenty of food and it was quite good. There were never any line ups. This was the only resort I have ever been to where you did not have to worry non stop about losing your towel. Also, there was no problem getting chairs at the beach or the pool. Nobody was running down at 7:00 a.m. to save chairs. We had a great time and I would recommend this place to anyone. The rooms are a little older but I didn't travel to St. Lucia to sit in my room. The waterpark was great fun and the bartenders (both sides) are a great time. The beach has some issues with seaweed as mentioned in other reviews but it is a public beach and it is maintained regularly. The beach around to the right was amazing and there is a neat little bar further down the beach with fun people. Explore the island and have fun, we did.

 Great vacation

Great vacation!!! remember this is a four star resort. That being said, grounds were beautiful, staff fantastic, food very good. There are two a la carte restaurants which were fantastic. Buffet always had something tasty to choose from, luchtime there was a bbq by the beach grill. The beach grill had fries, burger and salads. This resort is on the atlantic side and there is always a gentle wind which is a welcome relief from the heat. The beach is not the nicest beach we ve been to but is was enjoyable. One of the best vacations we ve ever had. There is a lazy river and waterslides which are fun for young and old. There is also an adults only pool with bar.
