 A bit disappointed

We were a bit disappointed in the resort because we expected better entertainment and the use of a minibar in our rooms. Overall the resort is beautiful, the staff friendly, the food is good but the beach is rough and the staff need to speak more English.

Belles vacances y retournerais demain matin... Ai mangé à ma faim (bon) , boissons internationales, ascenseurs, belles piscines, beau site, pas d'attente pour manger. Restaurants à la carte(3)disponible pour tous. Température chaude ( le bonheur)

 Nice resort

We had reserved a room with a juliette balcony, but was pleasantly surprised that we were given a room with a standard balcony. However, there was quite a bit of noise late at night, as the room was located just above the "Canopy" lounge.

The food at the buffet restaurant was okay, but nothing special. We were disappointed at the limited amount of seafood (just tilapia and bass). The Italian a la carte restaurant was excellent, however, the Japanese restaurant and the Coco Solo beach restaurant were a disappointment.

The entertainment was mostly in Spanish which we didn't understand. It was great when one of the Canadian guests sang a few English songs with the band.

The beach was really nice and clean. There was a sufficient supply of chairs and shade for everyone. The ocean was quite rough for a few days, so the red flag was flying. The undertow was very strong, so we had to stay out of the water on the red flag days. The pool was also very nice; I enjoyed the water "Zumba" sessions.

The ride from the airport to the hotel was approximately 2 hours. There is a lot of road construction and a bridge closure which sometimes causes delays.

 Beautiful Resort

Hotel was very nice with an excellent view of the ocean. Nice that you can swim/play in both the pools and ocean. A little far from panama if you want to do any tours of the city as it is 1.5-2 hr drive back to the city.

Good value and weather for Christmas

The price at Christmas, the location and weather makes this a great deal. The variety of food was a little weak but was edible. The rooms were clean and the beach is very nice (but it can be a little rough). I found it to be a good value. The trip to get to the hotel is long (6 hours in a plane plus a 2 hour bus ride to the hotel) so be prepared, especially if you have kids.

 Safety Issues

My husband fell down a dangerous set of stairs the first night we were there. Six stitches to the eye and visits to the Dr. twice a day pretty well ruined our holiday. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was wonderful. But there is some safety issues for older people. like us for sure.

A few issues, but generally positive

We had a great time at Breezes Panama but I can see how people might have complaints. I have traveled extensively at all inclusives and here are my observations:

At the front desk, the service is very patchy. I got excellent service from Keyla but some of the other staff seemed to be avoiding helping. When we asked to change rooms the first night because we had been assigned an ocean view balcony with only a tiny balcony, no chairs and birds nesting overhead, and noticed that our room 3608 and 3610 next door were the only rooms without table and chairs), the first lady I talked to tried to tell me a) they were full (the only people there were clearly the people form our flight- the hotel was nowhere near capacity) b) they had no ocean view rooms left c) I had to take it up with my Sunwing rep. I was polite but persevered, and eventually another lady changed the room without any problem.
We had great service at the restaurant desk, especially from Maylyn, but heard about others who couldn't make reservations for 4 days. We were able to make our reservations the day after we arrived for the first few days and then the following day from Mon-Wed. However several other guests commented that the reservations desk had odd rules and times when they wouldn't allow anyone to book. When we arrived the first day they would not let us make reservations until after 2 because our briefing was at 11:30 which seemed to be an arbitrary rule but we went at 2 and got our reservations settled with a smile.
After hearing from some of the locals who arrived on the weekend about their free upgrades to an ocean front suite, I have to agree with some of the other reviews that it seems that perhaps the front desk were holding the best rooms for the local visitors from Panama City.

The staff in the buffet had a very hard time keeping up with all the people once the resort was more full on the weekend. Only 3 staff in the buffet so it was hard to get drinks. However, this was only for the one night and the rest of the time we had good service, and the food was certainly reasonably good for an all-inclusive. Breakfast was the best, however the food was different every night and we had lots to eat. The three a la cartes were of good quality, better than average for an all inclusive. Don't have any expectations of the corn on the cob in the steakhouse though, it is VERY overcooked. I talked to the head chef a few times, he was around the buffet and restaurants quite a bit, he is from Canada and he is committed to providing good food. I think the taste of the food is certainly to North American standards, with some nice local dishes thrown in as well.

I will say, all in all that this was a good vacation. We found the service to be excellent, especially with respect to the bar service, and the bartenders kept up surprisingly well even with the large crowd. I did not find that I was treated any differently than the locals, the people were kind and friendly. Anel provided bar service right to your chair and to the beach, and would come with trays of 20 drinks at a time, never forgetting whose was whose. Lots of excellent blended drinks and premium liquor was available in seemingly unlimited quantities. A demanding group was getting 12 year old Chivas regal on a regular basis. We had Bailey's most evenings and it was available during the day as well.

A far as the rooms go, they are large and clean, our safe was locked when we got to our room and they had someone along to fix it within 10 minutes. The beds are quite hard. I think the resort should consider getting some mattress pads as other resorts have done with firm beds. Usually I am not too picky but I did wake up achy in the mornings. Other than that the rooms are very clean and the resort was quiet for the most part.

We went on the Panama Canal Eco tour and this was a great day, well worth the time and money.

Diving is not available at this resort, I could have gone to the Decameron but the visibility was poor so I decided not to waste my time. We had gone on the day trip on the sailboat out in front of the resort and were supposed to go snorkeling but the visibility was terrible and we saw nothing. We did enjoy the sailing though.

I am not sure I would recommend this hotel during high season though. I am concerned that the chance of getting poor service might be high, particularly when it comes to the front desk and the reservations desk. However, we had a very positive experience and I think if you are relatively savvy you can work around the few peccadilloes that this resort seems to still be working its way through.

 Family Group

The lobby bar serve the most expensive drink that is on the market. In most hotels there is a sur-charge for those type of drinks. Check out the teenager room there is lots to do there. The staff were great. All three restaurants the food were good but the dinner buffet need to have more varity to choose from. The hotel is about 1.5k off the main street and only have two van taxi. If the taxi is away you will have to walk. I like to take the local bus to Panama City and it was very hard to do so. I think they should have more taxi available on the grounds.

 Did not want to leave

Pros:
-Great staff (esp. Barstaff and waitstaff). No problems with communication. It is a Spanish speaking country so make an effort to speak it and they will appreciate it.
-Wonderful pools and swim up bar. Clean/fun pools and drinks were made fresh with premium liqor
-Rooms were modern. Stayed in a deluxe ocean view room with no balcony. 5th floor. Building #1. Absolutely no problems with the room or it's furnishings. Really comfy beds!
-Food is good. Not great, but better than food you would be served in Cuba/Dominican. Always a good selection to choose from.
Cons:
-Night time entertainment. Yes the other reviewers are right! Nightlife is pretty much non existent at Breezes but if u are on vacation with fun ppl than u will find ways to have fun (ie. unlimited drinks)
-Early jacuzzi hours. We wanted to go for a late night jacuzzi dip but couldn't.

That's pretty much it. As u can see the pros outweigh the cons, we (2 pairs of couples, ages 22-26) had a great time in Panama. We were impressed by the cleanliness and modern flare of Breezes. As long as u can get by with entertaining urself at night than it's definitely worth booking. I've been to Cuba 4 times and Mexico once and must say that Breezes Panama takes the cake! Breezes is still growing so it has a private and safe atmosphere. It does get busier on the weekends but it was nice to hear a bit of noise for a short while (I'm from Toronto so am used to it). Can't say enough about the staff and ppl we met in Panama. But just a word of clarity: If at home u find that u are easily aggitated and hard to please, chances are that's just ur personality. So accept it and book with Breezes! = )

 Good and bad

First things first, this resort is absolutely beautiful. It is exactly as it seems in the pictures.
The weather was great and it rained only at night. Also, there was always enough umbrellas and chairs for everyone and an endless supply of pool towels.
The lack of English spoken by the staff (other than the bartenders)was a huge barrier, the rude service from the staff (mostly the front desk staff) was frustrating. The rooms have paper thin walls, and you have hear everything from your neighbors (even at normal speaking volume). The fact that the locals get better treatment is disgusting. I realize they pay more to the hotel than we do, but we are paying customers too, and deserve respect. We found from talking to other Canadian/ US guests that there is a lack of rooms with king size beds and many promises made were never filled (only suites have mini-fridges, and only a few rooms have a king bed with a balcony, etc.).
We went for our honeymoon and were expecting an upgrade, and everything else that breezes promises for honeymooners. However, we got nothing but a bottle of sparkling wine after begging for it. The hotel was pretty empty, but they told us that all the upgraded rooms were full. I would recommend this hotel only to families, and make sure you polish up your Spanish before going. The best part of our trip was renting a car and driving to El Valle and Panama City on our own.

 Enjoyed it a lot!!

The hotel was nice and clean, and the scenery was beautiful. The food was great, mainly breakfast and dinner. I only wish there were more bilingual staff because most of them only knew Spanish and not enough English to understand us well enough. The pools were nice and big, but the waves at the beach were rough. I'm not sure if it's the time of year we came. The rooms were clean and well stocked. On the last night, they prepared a special dinner to thank us for coming. One thing they needed to improve on is the nightly entertainment because it wasn't up to par compared to our other vacations to Cuba, and Domican Republic.

 Would go back again

The hotel accomodations and food was very good. The staff were courteous although language was a barrier, however it did not have any bearing on the trip.

We utilized the gym 6 days out of seven, it was very clean and the equipment was adequate.

It was nice to stay at a new resort with the modern conveniences and ammenities available.

This was our first trip without the kids in 9 years and it fullfilled all what we were looking for in relaxation, accomodations, food, and beverage. All in all, we were very pleased with the Breezes resort and spa and would go back again.

FYI - be prepared for a two hour bus ride from the airport to the hotel, however you will definitely enjoy that first drink.

 SIMPLY SUPERB

From check in to check out my experiences at this hotel could be summed up as simply superb. To avoid disappointment I usually knock down the star rating of any all inclusive resort
by one to get a more realistic rating. This is the first time I would actually agree with the Breezes 4.5 star rating.
Reception staff were very efficient and friendly and any concerns I had were dealt with immediately and to my satisfaction. The Italian a la cart restaurant was my favorite by far as the service, decor and quality of food was excellent. Nightly entertainment could use a little work thought. This didn't matter too much to me as I usually went to bed early. If you are a light sleeper I would suggest a room away from the Canopy Lounge and the piano bar as it can get a little noisy at night. This place is also good for people who are wheelchair bound or need a wheelchair for the occasional sprained ankle or leg injury. To my surprise they have wheelchairs available at no charge just for this purpose. If you don't mind the 2 hour ride from the airport then I would highly recommend this resort as it is simply superb!!

I give the resort a 4 star rating as it only opened in Oct 2009 and they still need a little bit more work but overall it was Amazing.

 My thoughts at Breezes Panama

The trip overall was really good. I am not an avid traveller so heading south all inclusive was new for me. The deal was really good, so was the food 90% of the time. The room was really nice, it had a king size bed and nice water pressure in the shower. The pools were fantastic, and the ocean was always calm enough to swim in. Our host, Daniel, was a really nice guy. He took the time to help myself and a friend with some questions about the tours that the hotel offered. I only have two complaints. First, and not a big deal, was the language barrier. The resort had only been open for 6 months so I thought it wasnt too bad all things considered. Second, I had an issue one night with one of the entertainers the resort had hired. Their room was right next to ours and one night at about four AM there was a guest of theirs banging on our door. Apparently he had the wrong room. They were also very noisy at night. Other than those two things I had a great time. We took a tour into the town of Penonome, which was a good experience, but it was our bus driver that took the cake that day. Although he did not speak a word of english he still managed to communicate with us, to the point that he walked us through a grocery store so we could find what we wanted. He also made a pit stop for us just so that he could find an interpreter and understand what my friend was trying to ask him. All in all it was a good trip, and Panama was more than I expected.

 Very hot, very fantastic vacation!

We booked the Breezes Panama last minute, and were very pleased with our choice. The worst part was getting there and home - 5 hr flight from T.O. to Panama City then a 2 hr bus ride to the hotel. Once there, we were very happy with the cleanliness of the resort, the friendliness of the staff, the gorgeous weather (it's HOT!), and the selection of food and drink (premium brand liquor!). Excursions were interesting and original, and allowed you to learn about and explore the country of Panama. The ATV Tour was our fave. The resort was about 60% full while we were there Apr 10-17, so no problems finding shade, and no problems booking a la carte reservations. Went off the resort for supper one night, felt very safe and had a fantastic meal for a very reasonable cost. Definitely would recommend this resort!
