Our stay at Riu Jalisco was relaxing and enjoyable as planned. We ate at all a la cartes and enjoyed them all. The property is very clean and staff are hard working to keep it that way. Hotel management is very visible and go out of their way to get your feedback . The entertainment us typical resort style but the animation team should be commended for the effort. Drinks are watered down but this is probably a good thing when you see the way people indulge....6 to 8 drinks per hour.Free wifi access in the lobby ...we didnt bring our laptop but would have if we knew. Internet easily and inexpensivley available in the sports bar. It would likley be appreciated to have coffe available in the rooms instead of the drink dispensers! Everyone I asked said they never touched them.The addition of more luxury bedding would also be an upgrade worthwhile. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return for the same price.

The service was outstanding. The food was fantastic. The resort was nice and clean. EVeryone was very friendly and courteous. We enoyed our trip, exept that in the pool they allowed smoking, and in the bar pool there were children. They had a seperate pool for the kids and I feel that is where they should have been as our drinks were getting splashed with the kids jumping in the pool and swimming. They had strange rules for the pool like no football, but allowed soccer balls. Other than that...it was great.

We got a great deal so it was a value.

We stayed at the Riu Jalisco over Easter break. Had a great time, service was excellent, food was great. The steak house food and service was fantastic. Over all experiance was better than expected.

Was very pleasantly suprised to find the rating of this hotel actually matched our experience. I had never stayed at a RIU and will aim to book there on every trip from now on

It was overall a good experience but you cannot compare it with our earlier trips to Cuba or DR. Nice hotel, nice rooms, nice people, nice service. However, it is very far from the Puerto Vallarta downtown and the beach is not that great with golden sand. Not to say we spent most of our time at the pool. Food had a huge variety but most of it had little taste. They tried to have something for everyone but sometimes it gets too crowded with a million children rumnning around. It is a big hotel with most rooms occupied at that time out of the 700 rooms with more than a thousand people at one time.
All bars, pools and restaurants were crowded at all times but the staff were good in handling the population.

Try to bargain the tour prices and most of the outdoor tours are good.

First time at this property, excellent week. A little older, but more charm and culture. Only thing lacking was quality toiletries (bring your own).

This is our 4th year back to Riu Jalisco and it continues to offer a great vacation for the price. The beach is fabulous although it was a windy week and a little wavy at times. The rooms are starting to need a little tlc; one of our room keys was very finicky and hard to open and the dresser drawers were sticky. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food ... awesome!
We will be back next year!!

The staff what great as was the food. Couldn't find a thing to complain about. The miles of beach to walk on was our favorite.

Definitely not a 5 star - the bottom/base Riu of the 3 here, you are not permitted to step foot onto the other 2 Riu properties that perhaps were more like a 5 star. I was very disappointed with the attitude that was given to me when I approached the other Riu from the beach - the guy looked down his nose and told me to go back to the Jalisco. I said that I just wanted to look around and he would not allow me to enter.

We go twice a year to an all-inclusive resort and will not return here. Rooms were so small, too many people, rooms not cleaned well and kids club was horrible!

We do not drink but the juice and pop was watered down (not sure about the alcohol).

I am happy to be back and that is a first!!!

Never had any issues during our stay, it was a nice clean place. From check in to check out we had a great experience.

Not all guests are couples. I travelled with a friend and we would have liked to have a bit of privacy in the bathroom. The rooms and bathrooms are open concept. Therefore I will not be back because it's a hassle.I checked with the front desk and I was told that the manager told staff to remove the drapes separating the bathroom from the room itself. Not a good decision.

We had a great time. Clean hotel great staff and good food. Great weather....overall my best trip yet.

A lovely property - but not 5 star at all compared to other properties we have stayed at. I question who is handing out the "stars" as the quality seems to vary widely.

we had a great time. this was our 2nd time here. We brought friends with us for 1week. The service was the same the atmosphere very nice very friendly and very clean. same people last year working. Only thing I think I would change up the entertainment it was the same Grease Micheal J. At nite. everyone works so hard to please. Thanks Riu for another nice time

We stayed at the Jalisco from Feb 26- March 4. We have stayed at many of all inclusive resorts and this is definately not a 5 star. In my opinion, it is 4 star at best.
The reason for this is the food is good but not up to 5 star standard. The alacarts were ok but not great as I have had better food served at 4 star resorts. The room was nice however there is absolutely no privacy. However, we pinned up a towel and this gave us the privacy that we wanted. We took the towel down daily just in case the Jalisco wanted to charge us for putting tack holes in the walls. The grounds are fantastic and the staff should be commended as they all do a fantastic job, specially my man Ramon the bartender he exceeded my expectations. Our maid in particular did an amazing job on keeping our room clean. All in all we had a great vacation, to be honest this hotel should be rated a 4 star. Please note that we are not complainers and this is my opinion of the Jalisco. Just one other thing the people that work at the Jalisco are not slaves and they are there to make your vacation enjoyable. I was quite disappointed on how some people act and carry on. Come on people, treat these workers with some dignity and respect. It goes along ways as there the ones that made our experience at the Jalisco a memorable one.

We had a great time ... the grounds and lush palm trees are amazing!!! The pools were great the beach is wonderful for walking for miles or just laying around and going for a swim in the ocean ... the staff is very friendly and caring ... we upgraded to ocean front king suit which was incredible for views and outdoor space ... the only thing it needs a bit of modernizing ... it is quite old and outdated and the air-conditioning was not working all that great seemed to us . One thing we were a bit disappointed was food ... very bland and lots of it deep fried ... Over all we really enjoyed our time :) :) :)

The Riu Jalisco needs to invest in new bed linens, every day they were 'stained'..and some mold on the bedspreads and curtains!
Beach is beautiful but get down there very early if you want a chair. Service and food was 4*, A la carte restaurants are really just 'specialized buffets', and reservations are almost impossible to get.

We just arrived back home and have major concerns that I would like to bring to your attention. Our holiday was horrible! I can't believe the resort itself. My comments are:

Why was there no power in hallways on 6 floor?
Why did we have to call room service 2 days in a row to get our room cleaned?
Food trays at buffets were 99 percent empty daily! We ended up eating crackers and butter as that was all there was left at lunch and dinner and even snack at 3:00!
My Chicken soup one day at lunch had bird shit in it and the waitress thought it was funny.
It was very difficult to get al a carts didn't get the 3 we were entitled to which is not fair.
Room 6126 had splits in the door which kept letting light in
What is with that 13 inch tv - time to get with society!
Why don't you have clock radios in the room? Why should we bring our own alarm clocks when you could supply them. How about a small coffee pot where we can sit and enjoy a cup before/after our showers.
Why can't you get room service delivered to the room, one day I was not feeling well with the flu and you refused room service - ????????. You guys are living in the dark ages

You need more chairs on the beach. We were very disappointed not getting a chair when we start early in the morning around 9:00 am to try get a couple to sit in
Internet service very difficult to receive in lobby why doesnt every room have Internet? Hello your set up is crazy when Internet is a way of life these days! You have like 12 chairs and 1400 guests - what is wrong with this picture?

Overall we were very disappointed with your resort and so glad to get home as the cost we paid, we would be entitled to a litte more than what you offer. There have been other people on the plane complaining about the same shotty serivce so I don't feel so bad bringing this to your attention.

Second time staying here.

Enjoyed our stay at the Riu. everything was up to expectations, but the food was even better. Would definately return!

The hotel was beautiful and clean. Room service was good. There were sunwing represenatives every day. Very disappointing there was no privacy for showering. From reviews the complaints about the pillows are true, they are very hard. I felt the pool was dirty really didn't see anyone scrubbing the surfaces. Our last day there I didn't even want to get in. I know people use the pool as a toilet, I watches swim up bar partons not leaving the pool for hours. The restrooms are too far away from the pool area. Very unhappy with the alchol. Really didn't taste like alchol not sure what it was. Also, people putting their towels on chairs at 08:30 and not coming to the pool until the afternoon. It was very frustrating for us. The food was well presented and in abundance although, hot dishes were all luke warm for the full 7 days. Even though we saw fresh platers being brought out, they were still luke warm. The alacarte restaurants were very disappointing, the dragon served what to appear food from a box like costco, and all food was luke warm.

Really enjoyed our stay here but I'm not an early bird and you have to be to get booked for any a la cartes, and stand in line for an hour each morning.

This was our second stay at RIU Jalisco and we found a big difference, this time it was below expectations, not nowhere near the service we received the first time. We like it so much before that this time we brought couple of friends with us telling them this is first class hotel but it is not so. The hotel needs major renovations and upgrading to be brought up to 5* rating they say it is. A La Carte restaurants were not worth getting up at seven in a morning and wait in line for an hour to make a reservations- the service and the food was not as expected. This resort should not be rated as 5*, the most we would give them is 3.5*

Had a wonderful 7 nights (well 6 1/2) stay at Riu Jalisco.

The food was fabulous - enjoyed the many buffets many times per day. Enough variety of food to please everyone.

Staff were all very friendly especially bartenders.

Only disappointment I might have had was the shampoos were in those tiny envelope things and no conditioner to be seen. I normally bring my own but assumed a 5 star would provide that so was a bit surprised they didn't.

I also would have loved a coffee maker in my room for morning coffee on the balcony.

The entertainment staff were fantastic and always had something going for everybody. They put in way too many hours.

Very friendly staff. Great landscaping. Hotel, rooms and yard very clean. Fast response to any request.

The hotel and grounds are immaculate. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. The beach was clean with a gentle slope in the water so it was good for people who are a little nervous about going in the ocean and very safe for young children to play near the shore. There was a good variety of food and for the most part it was very good although my wife did become ill one night.

Overall we had a good experience and would recommend the hotel to others.

Very professional and efficient staff. Hotel and grounds were palatial! Extremely clean. Lots to choose from in the restaurant (only tried buffet), super efficient service. The only negative aspect had really little to do with the hotel, but that hotel guests grabbed a chair on the beach and left their stuff on it so it remained taken. Hard to find a free chair! I'd definitely return.
