Wonderful hotel for the value. I have stayed at this particular resort eight times and I will definately return!

Bar and buffet staff were absolutely great. Ammenities were just perfect will go back most definitely

Le point fort du Barcelo Beach est sans aucun doute la plage! Sable blanc, eau turquoise, le paradis! Le Beach est à une des extrémité du complexe et il a y beaucoup d'espace sur la plage. La quantité de chaises, tant à la plage qu'à la piscine est suffisante (nous étions 4 et pouvions facilement trouver des chaises pour tous). Le buffet est OK. Les restos à la carte, sont correct, sans plus. Le Beach est le "low-end" des resorts du complexe, alors j'imagine que les restos sont meilleurs dans les autres. Le point fort des resto à la carte, c'est le service... on n'en revenanit pas!! Nous avons commandé des bouteilles de vins (le vin inclus est VRAIMENT dégueux!) à plusieurs reprises et le service était impeccable! Comme il n'y a pratiquement rien pour les enfants sur le site (les autres Barcelo on des jeux d'eaux et toutes sorte d'affaire...!!!), il y a très peu de familles avec jeunes enfants. C'est parfait pour les couples ou les amis qui ne veulent pas le dérangement.
Le resort est loin de l'aéroport(au moins 1h20 d'autobus), mais si votre 1er critère c'est la plage, je vous le recommande!

Barcelo Maya was a great resort. The staff was accommodating and friendly.

I have no complaints about the beach, pool, buffet, or a la carte.

I did end up requiring the use of the Room Service (Medical problem unrelated to the resort) and it was not very good at all. The breakfast food was ok but the lunch/dinner options were confusing (things like chicken with long grasses) and not very tasty. Luckily most people will enjoy the buffet so not a huge issue.

If you're planning a trip make sure to bring lots of sunblock (we didn't get burnt or tanned at all), bandaids/first aid kit, Pepto, gravol, tylenol, and Travel Insurance. Also not all insurance in Mexico is covered at every hospital. They have private healthcare. If you need medical treatment call your provider first and find out where you can go. It will save you time and money.

The Barcelo Maya hotel was very clean and very beautiful. The grounds were well manicured with lavish greenery and tropical plants - absolutely stunning! Mini-golf, tennis courts, ping-pong tables, darts, nightly entertainment and the Mexican plaza added enjoyment to our trip and were within walking distance from the rooms. The rooms were nice, clean and pretty average. The bar fridge didn't work and there was not a fan or window in the bathroom, leaving the humidity from the shower lingering for literally hours. On our first evening we requested an extra blanket (son wanted to sleep on the couch) and after an hour and a half, three phone calls to guest services and assurance that one would be brought to the room, we never received it. We eventually went out and just bought one. Aside from that the staff were pleasant and helpful. My biggest complaint surrounds the taxi service. The hotel uses a regulated taxi service and out of four cab rides two were awful. The prices are set so there is no confusion (e.g., set rate to go to Playa del carmen, fishing dock, parks etc). Two of the cab drivers charged me more than the set rate and made up excuses (in spanish, which I don't speak) as to why I had to pay more. On top of that they claimed they couldn't make change. It was very frustrating and perhaps because I was a single female traveling with two children they new I felt vulnerable, and they took advantage of us. In the end I complained to the hotel and they took it seriously, called the cab company and made a complaint. My suggestion is to simply have the exact change for cab fares and then tip according to the service received. In addition one of the four cab drivers was driving at 140 km's an hour and texting - a little unnerving!

Beautiful landscaping and buildings but the service sucked terribly.
Guest services (gs) was awful at follow through on requests, eg 3rd day no face clothes so we called to gs they said no problem but we never got any clothes, same thing happened with requesting an extra blanket, there were more experiences like these.
Buffet restaurant service was horrible, and if you got up to get your own utensils they gave you dirty looks and were rude, once seated at a table it took almost 15 minutes to order coffee/drinks.
And internet charges are ridiculous, even if you are only 4-5 minutes they charge you for 15 minutes every time...so don’t think you are going to check in at home often unless you want an extra $100 added to your bill at check out.
Oh and check in felt like we were an inconvenience to the woman. Should have guessed from the horrible welcome that the service was going to be much less than desirable.
Housekeeping did not appreciate that our kids took naps in the afternoon and one day decided not to clean or restock our room at all. For the price of this resort I would have expected better.
We travel south a couple times a year and would not go back to a Barcelo resort after this experience.

This resort has no problem saying NO. I have been to many inclusives before and they did everything to please the customer. No name alcohol, want to upcharge for anything with a brand name. Food was only average. Service was okay. Not a 4-1/2 star that we were told it was. Closer to a 3-1/2 star. We went down for a wedding which brought 60 guests to the resort, and they nickle and dimed the wedding couple on everything. They gave the wedding couple 2 double beds after they had paid extra for the honeymoon suite. This was finally resolved after many discussions with management.

Je le recommande à tous, que ce soit le Barcelo Maya Beach ou les autres Barcelo dans ce complexe (à prix différent). C'est propre, la végétation est luxuriante en plus d'être exceptionnellement bien entretenue, le personnel très courtois, la chambre confortable en plus d'avoir des lits hors du commun pour des resorts ! Aucune mauvaise surprise. Gâtez-vous !!

This is our second stay at this resort and we had an awesome holiday.We brought two other families with us this time and they were very impressed with everything also and we would all return again without hesitation.Staff and food were excellent as were the hotel and beach.

Many Little things were not as needed overall very good but had some issues

Une très belle semaine au Barcelo avec beaucoup d'activités d'offertes. Hötel propre, bonne bouffe, et tout le personnel nécessaire pour tous les services.

This was our first trip to Mexico and we had a wonderful time( two adults and two teenagers). The more experienced visitors we met all felt this resort was as good or better than other resorts they had been to. The facilities were very clean and the beach was large and uncrowded (even thought the resort was fully booked). There were many activities to participate in, most of them free. The location was central to many other attractions so it was possible to avoid the expensive tours and explore on our own; for example snorkelling with the turtles at Akumal, swimming in nearby cenotes, or visiting the ruins at Tulum. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the facilities were very clean. We did find the room and beds small, but we should have been smart enough to book two rooms. The only downsides were drinking beer out of small plastic glasses and a few drunk teenagers and college students who didn't handle the free drinks very well.

This Hotel was excellent. No complains except the entertainment.

Nous avons voyagé avec nos 2 enfants et avons bien aimé notre voyage. A notre arrivé nous avons demandé un upgrade pour le Club Premium et quelle bonne affaire car le buffet était tres ordinaire, pas beaucoup de choix. Habituellement je m'organise toujours avec les pates mais là les sauces étaient clair comme de l'eau. Avec le Club Premium nous avions accès à tous les restaurants à la carte illimitée tant au beach qu'au tropical/colonial(tous bons à part les 2 steakhouses). Super belle plage et température extraordinaire. Le personnel est très courtois malgré qu'il ne parle pas francais. Un autre point négatif pas de palapas sur la plage.

We had a great time at the hotel, the food was good and the service was even better. A couple of things could be improved upon though. Internet use was only available if you paid for it. We certainly didn't go on holiday to surf the web, but the capability to communicate would have been very beneficial as we were trying to connect with friends down there at the same time. Beach restaurants did not allow food to go out to the beach and it would have been great to have that pleasure. Overall I would still go back to this hotel as it wa a great vacation.

Plage belle sable fin installez vous a gauche de la plage plus facile moins de roche.
Restaurent:. reserver des votre arrivee car 2 jours apres le choix est mince
s,il ne reste plus de place negocier avec le manager pour aller au buffet du palace(tres bien)vous avez 3 choix durant la semaine.
C,est venteux la plupart du temps nous: 6 jours sur 7
Au bout du quaie snorkling ou baignade avec les poissons.De la encore a gche il y a kayac bycicle sur l,eau planche a voile et katamaran en bon etat. si vents beaucoup de vagues.
Difficile pour nous tous d,obtenir du change a maya beach au lobby de l,hotel.Ils disent qu,ils en ont pas ou repasser plus tard.On allait souvent au Caribe,meilleur service pour echanger l,argent.

Si vous desirez aller a Cancun ou ailleurs tres bon service avec Van aux 5 minutes.Verifiez ce que le chauffeur remet comme change.Ils ont tendance a voler les touristes,C,est pas chere !!!
Calculer egalement votre argent dans les boutiques et les bureaux de change....
En general la nourriture est bonne sauf les crevettes a eviter le vin blanc et rouge non buvable!!nous avons achete nos bouteilles au Duty free.

Tout de ce club est fantastique à l'exception des vins et des cocktails trop dilués ou très sucrés.

C'était un premier voyage à la mer pour mes enfants 9 et 11 ans. Nous voulions une belle plage et nous l'avons eue. La mer est chaude, le sable est doux, il n'y a pas de roches... c'était parfait! La plage est à l'intérieur d'une petite baie, nous avons eu trois jours de belles vagues (parce que plus de vent) et le reste de la semaine la mer était calme. Seul bémol.. la musique et les activités de la piscine un peu forte. on peut marcher un peu plus vers la plage de Maya colonial pour retrouver le calme. Nous avons bien mangé, mais j'aurais aimé que ce soit plus simple de manger dans les restos de l'hôtel. Ils nous donnent trois tickets qui nous permettent de réserver dans les restos, mais il faut réserver vite parce que les places sont limités (les restos sont moyens... le vin est affreux). Le reste du temps nous avons mangé au buffet (qui est bon et diversifié) l'endroit est propre. J'y retournerais.

Even during March break, we never felt anything was too full/busy.

Only complaint would be lack of access to the A la Carte restaurants (we were able to book only 1 night)

We arrived 10 hours late(1.30am) and there was no food available.

Voyage en famille avec nos jumelles de 7 ans.
C'était notre 2iemme visite au Barcelo, la première fois dans la section Palace.
Endroit magnifique, les jardins sont matures, très bien entretenus, personnel courtois, précis et attentionnés.
Les chambres sont correctes comme la nouriture. Les spectacles en soirée sont de qualités dans une salle plus que convenable.

On découpait nos journées en 2: le matin à la plage, l'après-midi à la piscine. La plage est superbe,
Un seul bémol, la propreté de la piscine au Beach pourrait être améliorée.

J'ai adoré mon séjour à cet hotel.
C'était propre ,,, on y mange bien et animation pour tous les goûts.
J'y retournerais demain matin.

Our hotel was awesome! A bit too big for us, and we didn't actually see all of it because of that, but the food was great, the room was beautiful and clean. We got to know some staff and would definitely go back to this hotel!

Hotel was clean and accomidating, a later check out that corespondse with your flight departure could have been better,

We had a exceptonal time at the Barcelo. I would suggest that travellers make there own decision about this beautiful resort. The negative comments must have come from hard to please people. I can be a fussy traveller, but this resort was absolutely beautiful. The were staff very friendly, maids did a great job cleaning rooms, mini frig was filled everyday, food was really good.

We didn't book any attractions through our tour company, but we took the bus directly to the attraction and saved ourselves $30.00 dollars each. Example, we took the bus to Rio Sectrecto for $3.00 each, payed $69.00 each for the tour. If we would have booked this through our tour company, it would have cost $99.00 each. We highly recommend this tour, it was an incredible experience.

Don't believe all that you read, this is a beautiful resort with very had working, friendly people.

Beau temps sauf pour 1/2 journée. Service très bon. Le wi-fi devrait être disponible sans frais. De nos jours, c'est un incontournable. Si vous désirez vraiment boire du vin, il vaut mieux prendre celui à la carte. Il faut payer mais au moins il sera buvable.
