This was the 2nd time we've stayed at the Barcelo Ixtapa Beach Resort, and we really enjoy this place. The beach is fantastic, as is the pool area. The food, service and cleanliness is incredible. There was always someone there to serve you and always cleaning and polishing going on. The only complaint I had were with the rooms -- the glass cover on one of the lights by the bathroom sink was broken and just sitting there. The closet door kept running off of its track. The beds in our room were something between a double and a queen size -- too tight for both of us to sleep together. So we slept in separate beds. The rooms could do with a bit of updating and repair, but not that big of a deal because we were out having fun, and only in the room to sleep and shower. I'd be back, Definitely !!

This is our third time at this hotel.
We had a great time as always. We met lots of nice people, Mexicans and Canadians. Located on a wonderful beach, you can find lots to do. The hotel rooms are starting to show their age as far a decor goes.

We had a great time at the Barcelo very clean and friendly staff. I would go back to the Barcelo when I visit Ixtapa.
We were on the 11 th floor when the earthquake hit. 6.8 100 miles from Ixtapa The building swayed back and forth for about a minute and there was no damage. We were in the premium club and our mini bar was stocked daily and the maid made towel animals every day and there was chocolates on the pillow every evening. It also had a in room safe. We had a great time.

This hotel is in a great location, it's in walking distance to shopping and dining. The resort is well laid out and clean. The rooms are ok, but in need of some updating.
The staff are very friendly and willing to assist.
Just wish that the food selection was better, but we didn't go for the food. There are great places to eat outside of the resort. All and all it is an average hotel,but we had a great time here.

Il n'y avait que des Mexicains avec de grosse familles de 3 à 5 enfants qui n'ont aucun respect pour les touristes
je ne retournerai jamais à Ixtapa.Nous avons dû prendre le forfait premium de façon a pouvoir aller au restaurant à la carte car les buffets étaient dégeulasse. Les chambres Premium sont identiques aux chambres standard. Les enfants urinaient dans les piscines, couuraient sur le bar dans la piscine. Le pire de mes voyage, a éviter à tout prix.

We are a couple in the fifties. Had a great experience at the hotel. From talking to people and looking around probably best bet on main Ixtapa beach. Booked basic room and got ocean view on 10th floor with fantastic views of beach and sunset. Rooms are good, hotel services great...well run place...great service , very clean. Weather and beach are fantastic, best experience on west Mexican coast relative to Cabo, Puerta Viarta and Matzatlan. Set-up at hotel with elevators, pool and beach access are fantastic....great beautiful pool area. Nightly entertainment okay but repetitive. Only area not great was food. Limited number of food options and average quality...don't stay here if food is your top priority....but we heard this is true for all Ixtapa hotels. We are used to 5 star and cruise eating. All in all great stay and we will definitely go back.

Overall we liked our stay. Room was nice but the balconies are tiny. We were satisfied with the breakfast and lunch choices, but supper was quite a challenge. It was as though lunch was supposed to be your main meal of the day and supper more of a snack.

This is a very good hotel for the price. Missing some things like non-motorized water spots,(Boogie Boards, sail boats, snorkle gear, etc)but you can rent them on the beach at other hotels. Food was ok but got boring in a hurry. We decided to eat out several nights just to get some variety. This hotel was very clean, the staff was superb and they made you feel you were important.
We upgraded to Premium Club and it was a total waste of money. If you want Bailys and Coffee go across the street and buy a bottle of Bailys to keep in your room. You go no real advantage for the $$$$.
The pools were great but there is no Adult Pool.
The Barcelo is a destination for a lot of local Mexican familys which gives it a very authentic and local feel which we enjoyed. We met several folks from all over Mexico and enjoyed getting thier view of the country.
I recomend the Barcelo and Ixtapa as a great mid range area to vacation in. We'll be coming back.

Avons été impressionné par la qualité et propreté des chambres et du service, serviette de bain: drap de bain épais jamais vu ailleurs,signe de qualité, gentillesse et sourire du personnel,quantité suffisante de chaises longues et de huttes même en arrivant sur la plage à 9-10h. Promenade de 2h sur la plage, gym incroyable. Près aéroport et ville à proximité.Y retournerions demain avec ce soleil et le bruit de ces vagues!

Nous avons séjourné au Barcelo du 19 au 26 janvier 2011. Nous avons été comblé par tous les services et définitivement nous retournerons à cet hotel. La plage est magnifique, la bouffe excellente, les chambres sont propres et le personnel très accueillant. L'hôtel est très bien situé. Vous n'avez qu'a traverser la rue pour y retrouver le mercado, les restaurants et boutiques.

Beautiful resort & beach. Meals were excellent, friendly staff. Weather was fabulous.

We found our trip to be exactly what we were looking for in a winter getaway. We were given an ocean view room on the 7th floor and found the room to completely meet our needs. The hotel was very clean and the service provided by the employees was very good. The two a la cartes provided a welcome relief from the buffet food that is associated to the majority of all inclusive resorts. The grounds of the resort were kept very clean. The beach was excellent and afforded us the opportunity to take long walks along the beach during the day. No complaints about the resort and it entirely met our needs.

Was at the Barcelo for 2 weeks this December, and were there same time in 2007. We both thought the buffet food, especially the lunch service by the pool was even better than our last stay. Many staff members have been working there a long time.....20 years for some of them. Very good service. The hotel will fill up on the weekends with local tourists, mostly from Mexico City.

This was one of the nicest resorts on the beach. The staff are very friendly and ready to help and assist you to have a great vacation. I would recomend this resort to anyone. When reading some of the review from Trip Advisor, one person wrote that the Mexican people visit this resort on weekends and that it ruined their vacation. Well yes the Mexican people did come and have a great time with there family, does this mean Americans cannot go to Disney Land or Disney World because people from other countries are there??? Ease up people everyone is on vacation. Sit back, relax and enjoy, because your vacation is only what you make it to be.

Ixtapa needs and adults only resort, too many kids at the Barcelo !
Don't go there during Easter break, seriously crowed beach. Food is not great. Cleanliness of pool water is questionable. Everything else is superb.

plage, attention aux vagues. Le buffet est tres répétitif et j'ai vue beaucoup mieux ailleurs au Mexique,Resto a la carte pas mieux.

Expected more, the resort did not compare to the Barcelo in Manzinillo

Hotel was very nice. It was clean and included all the amenities. The pools were clean and we enjoyed playing in the surf. The hotel seemed to fill up on the weekend but there were still beachpool loungers available, just not as many. Amenities such as shopping and other restaurants were within easy walking distance of the hotel. This was our first all inclusive experience and I would go back to the same hotel.

My second Barcelo experience, first was in the Mayan - Barcelo Colonial and I think it was a nicer hotel, more restaurant variety. But I would def. go back to a Barcelo again, and back to Ixtapa.

We have been to Ixtapa 7 times now and have stayed at the Barcelo(previously Sheraton) for 4 of the vacations. After coming back to Barcelo we felt like we were home.
Food good, but like all buffets it gets boring. We went out to dinner 4 times out of 7. Lots to do but we just relaxed this time.

I found the hotel location was fantastic. The ocean view/ocean front was wonderful. The condition of the hotel was NOT great. It would benefit the hotel to upgrade/renovate. The elevator/s were not working properly the whole time we were there and there was a lot of banging while it was getting fixed. Due to the layout of the design, every morning you could hear clanging of dishes as early as 6 a.m. (we were on the 4th floor). The last night we were there, they allowed a group of people to sign/scream nonstop on the patio below us. When talking to other vacationers, they were also annoyed that someone didn't tell them to stop it. It carried on until 5 a.m. The beach is very nice and there were lots of spots to sit. The swim up bar was great and the bartenders were wonderful. The staff on the beach (security/lifegruards/event instructors) were very good and happy to help without being obtrusive. The buffet got tired really quickly. It was the same food over and over even in the dining room. The house wine was awful, and "all inclusive" drinks were very limited. The front desk was just ok. They didn't always understand what we were asking and seemed a little put out. It cost extra money to use the internet, and some of the keys don't work the same as at home. They don't tell you that. I wasted at least 20 mins. trying to figure out how to get @ (cntrl, alt, q) and underscore (arrow, underscore). This time was non refundable and the front desk was not much help.

We would easily return! Barcelo Ixtapa meet all our needs!Hotel Room,Food,drinks,security and Beach were all exceptional!! We watched as many Olympic events as we wanted by going to local restaurants that broadcasted many events. Our group needed a hockey fix bad... and we were extactic when our Canadian Women and Men took Gold!!! Prices and quality of food away from the Hotel were REALLY good!! If you have Kids they will love the Kids Pool!

A notre arriver dans la chambre le coffre fort de fonctionnait pas immediatement il sont venu et comme il n avait rien a faire il nous ont donner une autre chambre et nous ont aider....le personnel est super gentil même sans pourboire ...... la bouffe bon on va pas au Mexique pour la bouffe du Quebec. Dans l ensemble on a beaucoup aimer surtout du soleil mur a mur..... C est notre septieme annee au Mexique et la premiere fois a Ixtapa.... On y retournera!!!! et encore au Barcelo .... même que des gens habituer a d autre hotel a ixtapa on preferer le Barcelo!!! Allez y bonne hotel..... Mais pas avec Air canada ....
