 Las Brisas Huatulco April 2012

Beautiful location - fantastic hot weather - great buffet food but ala carte restaurants not good. Excellent staff. A/C in the room was excellent but none elsewhere. Free wifi in the room was slow and did not work half the time. This is an aging complex and has not been updated so do not expect a 4.5* as advertised however it is good value for the dollar. We had a great time!

 Wonderful Vacation - HOT!

We were very impressed and in Awe when we arrived. I would highly recommend this resort! The staff and service was excellent, the beaches were amazing. No complaints about the food, it was great. We met some wonderful people and had a great time. Best of all, the weather was guaranteed hot and sunny everyday. We will definately come back.

 LAS BRISAS HUATULCO

We are a couple in our 40's just spent a week at LAS BRISAS HUATULCO. The hotel is older but very nice and clean...staff is nice and helpful. We were a bit shocked at the amount of walking and stairs ....but we are not the most atheletic people but it made us realize we should be more! The grounds are beautiful!! The beach for snorkeling is a great treat...so fun! but all beaches are great....at nite sneak to the snorkel beach to become up close and personnal with the crabs and hermit crabs they are everywhere ...such a neat experience.
The food is okay....drinks are strong...atmosphere is very family orientated ....definatly not for the partiers.... overall very nice a wonderful experience.

 Family of 5.......

We chose this hotel because it is the only resort in Hualtuco that will accomodate 5 in a room. Our first room in the "Purple" tower was not great....to say the least. We stared at Cactus's and dirt. It had a "patched" hole in the ceiling in the bathroom, the fan didn't work the air conditioner was broken and smelt like burnt rubber and they had a pull out couch for someone to sleep on with no bedding....took us 3 hrs to get bedding for it. I had asked immediately if we could be moved to the "Blue" tower and they could accomodate us at 3:00 the next day. Our room in the blue tower was smaller but fully renovated with a beautiful view. Once we moved rooms our experience was incredible. The Blue Tower is beautiful...ocean views (saw Dolphins from our patio) beautiful flowers and close to the Snorkling beach and Mexican Restaurant. The Beaches are incredible...our 3 kids 8,6,4 could be in the ocean snorkling, feeding the fish or just playing in the water and there was no fear of safety.....very calm water. The staff can be a little rude and very few speak english but....there were 3 incredible staff that made everyone feel so welcome...Alberto, Erinistina, and Oscar. Alberto and Erinistina are servers at the Snorkling restaurant and they are great!! Oscar was our Driver in the taxi's. Our kids LOVED him we would have to wait and only drive with Oscar! The taxi's were so fun for the kids....we only used them at night but everything in the resort would be lit up with lights and the drive was so fun for the kids...they loved it!They could accomodate the food a little more towards kids. Maybe set up a kids section in the Buffet. This resort is so different from any other places in Mexico that we have been to...it took a few days to find our "Spot" This was our second time to Hualtuco and first time to Las Brisas. We love Hualtulco for the heat and safety! Our kids had a blast and can't wait to go back.

 Las Brisas

Overall, good for the price and the service was excellent. However, parts of the resort need either maintenance and/or repairs (i.e. holes in walls around electrical sockets in gym & racket ball courts, leaking bathroom facet and stained bathroom tiles). In addition, found blood on my pillow second night in - big turn off. Beaches were great! I would advise though not going doing Easter as this is a big holiday for Mexicans and beaches/restaurants were usually packed. Entertainment definitely seemed geared towards Mexicans versus Canadians which is fine if you speak Spanish.

Kids want to go back next year

Hotel was in a nice setting, with nice beaches. 3 separate beaches, one for water sports and one for snorkelling right off shore. Hotel was clean and staff was alway friendly. Not recommended for everyone as there are a lot of stairs and lobby is situated away from the rooms. Dinner and Lunch is not the best, but you could usually find something that was okay. You were never harrassed by salesmen on the beach

 Very good trip

The resport was very nice, I loved how spead out it was. The downfalls were that it was busy due to Mexican holiday (Easter) and was full of locals. But since it was so spead out it didn't effect us too much. There also is no hot water for showers or AC in the room but these things didn't really bother me. The resort had so many good things to mention them all and the service was awesome. Would definetly go back

It was well maintained and even though the area is huge they have a very efficient system of shuttling you around to wherever you want to go.

 Enjoyed the snorkeling the best!

Overall the staff went out of their way to make out stay memorable. The view from our patio was just beautiful. The grounds are very natural and birds outstanding. The food was ok but the Mexican restaurant stands out for breakfast and dinner. I want to eat outside.

 Las Brisas

we enjoyed being at Las Brisas, the rooms were plain and dated, but clean and comfortable. The staff are wonderful, our daughter made many friends with guests and staff, lots to do to keep a teen busy.the beaches were the best in the bay, we were always able to be in the ocean, where the resorts across from us have a strong undertow and no one was on the beach most days. lots of stairs here but they have shuttles to you where you need to go. Met lots of people who have returned 3-4-5 times!

Las Brisas Huatulco - March 2012

I would rate Las Brisas as a 4 star, not 4.5 as it is rated here. I upgraded our room so I do not know what a standard room looks like, but ours was very spacious and clean and the bathroom was a nice size for 2 teenagers and Mum to share. We had a balcony with a beautiful view but it was too hot to sit out on it during the day. The food was better than I expected. The main pool was a nice size but the majority of it was too deep to stand in. The shallow area was small and therefore crowded. I read trip advisor before booking so knew that the rooms are very far away from the main lobby and pools and there are many many stairs. Since it was so hot, there was no way to avoid sweating when walking from the room to the lobby and pools. There are stairs both up to the rooms and up to the lobby so travelling both ways is tiring. I had no difficulty with this, but some may have not liked all the exersice. They do have a suttle system that works extreemly well. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

 A Tropical Economical Oasis

We have just returned from our 3rd trip to Huatulco and had a great time! Las Brisas is an amazing property with loads of charm and tropical alure. The resort is starting to show its age, but the rooms were fresh, well kept and comfortable. The house keeping staff ensured that our stay was clean and relaxing. The mini bar was restocked daily, the king size bed was very comforable, there was an abundance of fresh towels, etc.

Las Brisas has, without a doubt, the nicest sandy beaches and snorkelling right there! Unlike the other properties, it has little undertoe and is safe. There was no beach vending and chez loungers were always available. The waiter service was prompt and we never waited long for a new refreshement! There are 4 beaches; one is secluded and basically for show, the main beach was very nice, the activity beach was busy due to the 32nd Sea Turtle convention, and the last beach is mostly dedicated for snorkelling around the coral reef. Be aware that the reef can be dagerous at lower tides, we observed one lady become entangle on coral and receive multiple cuts & gashes!

The entire serving staff appeared to be friendly, pleased to see their guests and they really did try very hard. It was never difficult to get drinks and they were always very appreciative for the tips we left. Overall, their ability to speak English was poor, but then again so was our Spanish! The exception is that the front desk attendants should be able to speak English. Otherwise, we did just fine and the communication gap was bridged. The only cause for annoyance was checking out from the resort. The desk clerk did not explain the need to get a check out pass to board the airport bus. Having waited 3 hours delay to leave for the airport, we were annoyed to find out that we had to go back to the desk to get this redundand slip of paper $%^&%! Thus we were last on and way back for seat selections when we checked into Sunwing at the airport.

The food was really quite good, the a la carte meals were a nice change but plan for atleast a couple of nights off the resort to visit other places to eat. The BellaVista had great meals, but not enough air conditioning, so evening meals were sort of humid given none of the windows to the buffet open.

The snack bar (or La Pergola by night) frequently ran out of fast food by day, as did the buffet one evening..hmmm? The Solarium was our best evening dine out, the setting is open and airy. We felt the staff were always eager to please but often mixed up the presentation, order, flow of the dining experience due to lack of experience? This is a small flaw but guests need to be patient if they expect 4 star service.

We recommend going out on a few excursions, the best prices can be obtained by walking into the village square by the Barcelo and arranging the trips from a couple of vendors in the square. There is an excellent place to eat called Don Portofino's (?) and the change of scenery is great.

Our only gripe is what makes Las Brisas so good on the other hand: It is not a beach strolling property like the main Tangolunga bay since it is out on the peninsular. BUT ...that's why it has some fun tanning, swimming, relaxing sandy bays to enjoy! Also, the property is enourmous and the trip up and down to the Pueblos / or rooms is by those cute little truck /trams. They are always available and you get to see alot of the other areas as the tram winds it's way up and own the maze of little roads that thread throughout the estate, FUN! That said, it you have mobility issues, this is NOT the place for you since there are a lot of stairs regardless of the tram service.

We will return to the Huatulco area, but perhaps next time to Dreams or Secrets for a different experience. Las Brisas is a fantastic place to spend a week as a couple or with your kids! Two thumbs up from us.

Finally, a note for Sunwing. The flight crew there (and less so back but they were 3 hours late) were excellent. The girls were friendly, efficient and made the 6 hours pass quickly. We can't say the same thing about the room in the aircraft. The seats were horrible cramped and uncomfortable, the air conditioning was poor and it was the second worst trip ever for us on the way back to Calgary. So for the flight crew, yay! For Sunwing, try taking out one row of seats and not having your repeat customers hover over the person in the seat in front like a dental hygenest! We took a straw poll and the consensus was that we'd all pay a few more bucks in order to fly with comfort! No more for Sunwing for us...

 Las Brisas Huatulco

We had a fantastic time. There is a lot of walking and a lot of stairs; however, shuttles run frequently for those unable to handle the walking. The three main beaches are excellent and our kids also had a great time in the pool. The kids club was good, but was a bit remote from the rest of the resort and not very used. The room was larger than we've had for a standard room at other resorts, and the bathroom was huge (good for four people). The food was average, but we always found something we liked, and got to try some Mexican meals. It definitely wasn't a party place (a good thing in our opinion) so young people looking for a good time might not enjoy it as much as we did with young kids.

 Good value - excellent location

This is a very beautiful setting right on Tangolunda Bay in Huatulco. Lots to do, good service, courteous staff. Beaches are the best in the area. Ecological setting with lots of wildlife. Evening entertainment needs improvement. Be prepared to tighten up your tummies with lots of walking and stairs.

 Las Brisas Huatulco

Excellent location, great beaches, friendly staff, adequate food, older style resort. Ideal for young families and the more mature crowd: not suitable for the late teen early 20 to 30 party going crowd.

 Very good

This hotel was good for the money. There are a lot of stairs, so if you have any disability know this in advance. However, they do have golf carts to drive you around everywhere if required - you may just have to wait for them. We took the stairs all the time and the scenery is beautiful during the walk. The food was good, but the al a carte restaurants were not fancy. The snorkelling off the beach is amazing and the beach is relaxing and overall really great. Cab ride from the airport is about 20 minutes and 5 minutes into Santa Cruz, which was really nice.

 Great quiet getaway

We had a great family stay in Feb 2012 (6 and 9 year olds). Huatulco is a wonderful quiet destination (if you like peace and low key this is for you, if you like partying go to Cancun or PV). The Las Brisas site is incredible. Great beaches, gardens and lots of lovely paths and walkways with birds, iguanas, geckos and other animals. We are an active family and really enjoy walking -others complain about this. Staff are wonderful and go out of their way to create a positive experience. The architecture of the resort itself is quite weak and is a real disappointment given the incredible setting. We aren't usually fussy about rooms but ended up paying for an upgrade to get a room that was quiet, had a view and didn't smell of sewage. It is worth paying the extra as the better rooms have been renovated and are much nicer. Food was good but not exceptional. The authentic Mexican in the buffet was great and the seafood restaurant was great. Lots of locals stay here which I see as a real plus. The resort was pretty quiet and we never had to wait for Hobie Cats or kayaks. All in all great value for the money and we consider returning.

 Another perfect week.

Another enjoyable week in Las Brisas .There have been some improvements in the poolside area with Arbor like structures provided for some shade .
The weather was perfect all week as usual, (some may find it too hot ,avg. 30 deg .You can now enjoy breakfast at the beachfront Mexican restaurant.
Guests joke about the Las Brisas stair master and you really do need to be physically fit to fully enjoy and explore the beautiful 50 acre hillside grounds .
If you have mobility issues , this is not the resort for you .Unlike the other Huatulco resorts the beach is safe even for non swimmers .

 THE place to relax!

Fourth time to Mexico, first in Huatulco and will go again. This resort is well laid out, has ample choice of restaurants, and bars and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved that there was three beaches to choose from and none of them are overcrowded. Had read some reviews of people complaining about the stairs, but personally our family invites a bit of physical activity to mix in with all the eating and laying around. For travellers unable to handle the stairs, the lobby to room transport is friendly, prompt and there was no wait time. Rooms are clean, very spacious and well attended to. The bathroom layouts are especially nice with the open tiled showers. Overall, a very nice resort and well worth going to.
Our only complaint would be that the toilets in the rooms are very sluggish, but we had no problem with having that attended to in a timely manner.
