Food was outstanding and the entertainment staff were exceptional. We found the resort to be too far from town as well the lighting was poor on the walkways at night.Great time however not our favorite location.

 Excellent voyage!

 Relaxing Vacation

We choose Cozumel as a location because of the coral reef. Iberostar as a hotel because it was the furthest south and close to the reef.
We went on one snorkeling trip, it was a bit rough and we did not see a lot. My husband completed a PADI certification course onsite and went for two dives and saw a lot more. We enjoyed swimming at the beach in front of the hotel and snorkeled there, although the water is clear and beautiful blue, there were some but limited fish but still nice to see.
Beds were hard, but not the hardest we have had, we asked for the extra foam and that helped. Pillows were fairly flat. Room was always cleaned spotlessly. Furnishings are dated.
It was nice to have a walk out unit very close to the beach and we could see the ocean Very peaceful.
Flamingoes, Macaws, Peacocks on site as well as some small turtles and large iguanas. Very fun to watch.
Food was good, some items were great, such as the oven roasted chicken at lunch every day (a favourite) and fresh fish at all meals. Always a large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, breads, crackers, as well as varied hot dishes. I liked the soup at the steakhouse ala carte, I did not care for the steak, to me it tasted as if it was chemically tenderized, not everyone thought so. Liked the Mexican a la carte more and the buffet.
No real "prime" cuts at the buffet but at each meal there was always something that we really liked a lot.
We used the hobie cats and kayaks and enjoyed those.
There is a lending library at the towel hut and made use of that. Selection varies as to what other guests leave behind but it kept me in reading material for the week.
Shows, some were better than others.
The activities team was busy keeping everyone entertained that wanted to be and easily left you alone if you did not want to be involved. A very nice balance and nice to see them so active in real activities such as pool volley ball, beach volleyball, beach Bocci, ping pong, soccer, aeorbics etc. as well as some inventive games with coconuts as horseshoes etc. More imaginative games here than I have ever seen as well as the basics.
It is a $20 US one way cab fare into San Miguel. We did not go as we have been there twice on other trips.
Overall, it was an extremely relaxing vacation, perhaps the most relaxing in years, a nice balance of activity, decent food and interesting people.

still relaxed

Nice resort, villa type rooms, private with lovely gardens and alot of wildlife. No need to get up early to play the chair game.

 Amazing trip!

Overall, this was a great resort! The staff were very friendly and attentive. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, and there was great variety in the food. The beach area was mainly composed of reef making it difficult to enter the water. It was possible to swim off the pier, but we spent the majority of time in the pool.

 What a wonderful time.

The proximity of the pool to the beach is wonderful and the animators (Viktor, Montserrat, Mario, Francisco, Eber, Diego and Alejandro) are fabulous. Swimming/snorkeling in the reef along the beach front was a neat expeience.

 Tout simplement parfait.

Les gens, la place, la nourriture et les chambres tout était parfait.

Sauf....Le café, il est vraiment mauvais.

Donc, je vous conseil ce resort sans aucun problème, mais apporté votre café et des souliers de plage.

 Iberostar Feb 2012

Very nice resort, amazing snorkeling right under pier. Room smelled musty, but hard not to in such a humid place. Entertainment was very well done with lots of enthusiasm buy "Francisco" and the rest of staff. If you go, make sure you try the "Polaris Adventure" and walk south of resort on beach, you will find a beach patio "Palancar beach" about 2 miles down and nicer beach for swimming. There will always be complainers, so some will say bad things about resort. it is what you make it. not a 5 star, but a solid 4 star

 Bad Start with some recovery

The hotel would not accept our reservation or it was not communicated to them. We were asked to put up $900 or 12,000 pesos or we would not be given a room. Customer checkin desk was not sympathetic to our documentation showing reservation so we did put up the money. Everything else was average at best. Poor in room amenities food was ok. Staff that could speak English were just ok and reluctant to help with much. Good for divers but otherwise avoid the hotel or the booking institution.

 Iberostar Cozumel

Was a nice surprise. Very lush resort with lots of iguanas and peacocks running freely about the grounds. Found the resort very laid back with lots of chairs by the pool and the beach. Found All staff was extremely friendly from checking in to the last minute of checking out. Resort is starting to look a little tired but did not hamper our stay. 10 friends went to celebrate a 50th Birthday. Was an Excellent Holiday for all 10. Food was plentiful as was the drinks. The only negative was the resort is like a maze. Need better signage around the resort to get back to lobby or the restaurants.

 Very nice and relaxing stay

No real issues with resort - it was what we had expected. Good service and clean. Food and a la cartes restaurants were the norm - nothing really stood out. The hotel was under review (by Iberostar) the first week of out stay - so, staff were really putting on a show and not as friendly or quick to serve you the next week. The only real let-down was the beach (could't walk out) - but I guess mother nature had something to do with that?

 One week in Iberostar resort

I really liked the area, the pools and the houses. Especially the lots of animals. Made us feel like in the real world. Trees and bushes are so wonderful, we had a great vacation.

 Great resort!

We had an amazing vacation at Iberostar Cozumel: paradise-like location with lots of palm trees and other exotic plants, beautiful flamingos, peacocks, big iguanas, delicious food, good entertainment, good and ready-to-help staff. We would like to go there again one day soon :)

 Absolutely amazing!

Everything about this hotel was great - The staff, the food, the drinks(especially the tequila) and the ocean. We had great rooms that were located close to everything. The beach is rocky but that coral is the reason the snorkeling is good. You need to go see Gaspar at the hotel lobby bar - he was great. We traveled with another couple and we all had a blast. Rent a jeep and see the island - especially the east side, it is simply spectacular. I won't go on and on. To summarize, go to this resort - you will love it!!

 Beautiful resort, beach just okay

The resort is beautiful, clean, lush greenery. The service is excellent. The only downfall is the beach. While the beach itself is white sand, it is difficult to walk into the ocean because it is rocky in the shallow water.

 Excellent trip to Iberostar Cozumel

We enjoyed it - not as fancy as the four other Iberostars we have stayed in, but there is snorkelling off the pier, the pools are excellent, nice size, iguanas, flamingos, peacocks are fun. Room is somewhat small, but loved the porch with hammock. Rocky beach - need beach shoes. Probably not good for toddlers since beach is too rocky.

 A very enjoyable week!

Lovely setting, very helpful and friendly staff, good food at the buffets, also Steak House and Mexican restaurants decent. Good for scuba, snorkeling and sailing. Rooms smallish and ageing, but picturesque setting. Sand beach, but coral entry to water, so bring shoes, or drop in 4' water off dock. Lots of friendly activity staff if you want to do group stuff; some evening shows good. They charge you for using wifi or internet.

 Plongée a Cozumel

 We will be back

We stayed at Occidental Grand a few years ago. It is sure Occidental has lager space and bigger pools, but Iberostar had much better services, better foods and more relaxing ambiance, netherless to say pink flamingos helped for that.
