 Disgusted

Avoid at all costs ..... not what we were expecting at all from the photos and other information we found in travel magazines and on-line. Extremely poor service and assistance with anything from getting towels to direction to get something edible to eat. Food was discusting except for the steakhouse restaurant. Ending up transferring to a different resort on day three. Think I would have starved or caught something if we had remained @ Grand Oasis Cancun. Totally disgusted by the entire experience. The entrance and grounds are only pleasant part of this resort.

 Good experience

The hotel staff was great but the english could be better, very friendly. The room needs a little updating ie. needs lcd t.v. and the plumbing not so good. I would go there again this time of year because it wasn't busy at all. Ocean was picture perfect.

 Typical

The hotel was ok, staff was annoying at best, buzzing the door to clean at 9am, bartenders are understaffed, coyoto loco smells like gym shoes, party crowd is 18-25 and if you're in that group it'd be a lot of fun, if not the fact the pools are absolutely disgusting, food is marginal at best should keep you from this hotel, I've been to Cancun 3 times and this resort did me in completely

Not quite what I was expecting....

The location, grounds and everything were fantastic! The staff/service however was definitely lacking. I work in the hotel industry and this was just not up to standard for a 4 and a half star hotel.

I was upgraded to a Ocean view room which was great! until we discovered the bed was broken. Ignored it the first night since we were so tired and just tried to deal with it because of the great view. Second day I noticed the Air conditioning unit was leaking water, but didn't complain as I was on my way out for the day. Then the final straw hit. There was a pool of water near our sliding door. It had obviously been leaking earlier in the day before housekeeping serviced the room. In my opinion, when a housekeeper notices something such as a broken bed, or a large pool of water on the floor they should report it and have it fixed. Not just leave it there and throw a towel over top thinking we wouldn't notice.

When I called the front desk to complain, they did not care at all. When i asked for another room, they said they had none. In that big of a hotel there were no empty rooms to move me to???? I think not. After a fight on the phone, their only solution was to send someone to fix all of the problems. The maintainance man comes to the door. I show him the problem with the air conditioning unit. He looks at it and goes out into the hall 3 times to get things he needs to fix it then leaves chuncks of the ceiling all over the floor. Then moves on to each problem one by one taking about 25 minutes to fix things going in and out of the room many times. They even used a smelly caulking to fix the slidding door which made the room smell awful. Once he left, I called the front desk and was angry again that I had to sleep in a room that smelled of chemicals. Their solution: a housekeeper spryaing the walls with a perfumy air freshner. WORSE than th chemical smell in my opinion. 20 minutes later a towel swan thing is brought to our door. Towels are now supposed to make me forget about the smell?

That senario in conjunction with the less than stellar food (rock hard pasta with cold sauce on it!!!)just did not meet my expectations.

All in all, if you do not care about the quality of your room or the service of the front desk, you will like this place. But myself, I expect good service....and I definitely did not receive this.

May as well stay at the oasis

Paid for the grand oasis, got put into the other building. No beach towels the entire trip, they said they would be in your room which they were not. Friends who had paid less and booked the oasis had a 10 times better room than we had. People hat rats in their room, which is disgusting, and you could see them at night time by the bar! Some pretty awesome parties ever night though, and some of the bartenders are amazing!!

 Not Impressed!!

I travelled to the Grand Oasis with my girlfriend in March. Our overall impression was really bad and we would never return again. When we first arrived the nolitours bus dropped us off in the middle of no where with no direction as to where the front desk was. After wondering around with our luggauge for what seemed to be an hour a hotel attendent took us to a dark smelly room where there were chairs and desks set up. There was construstion going on in this room and all you could hear was an extremely loud drilling sound. After waiting for a ridiculously long time me and my girlfriend decided to leave and find a real front desk/lobby. Once we found this front desk for check in we were charged an exrtra $28.00 U.S each with no refund because we were not 25 years of age??? We were then given a list of rules we couldnt break and were basically treated like we were 5 years old. We booked at the grand Oasis but were placed in an Oasis room there for the quality was not good. I understand we booked on march break but you would not be seated or served drinks without having money in your hands for tips. In conclusion we would never return to this resort and do not reccomend it.

 Avoid

Too much of a party hotel. Was looking for a quiet getaway with the gf but ended up packed like a sardine and neglected by staff. Fridge didn't work. Bathtub flooded and nothing was done after several complaints. I'm 30 years old and the staff treated me like I was just another one of their hundreds of teenage punks. If you are looking for any peace and quiet or a hassle free vacation, avoid this place at all costs.

 Nice Vacation!

I can't complain about a week where my meals are cooked, drinks are served, and bed is made for me. The food was great and the staff at the Grand Oasis are enthusiastic. Drinks were always available and the weather was beautiful. The detail that went into the nightly entertainment was fantastic. The hotel was at capacity while there so it was not spotless on the grounds or in the lobby but the staff were working hard. The room was clean but not the most glamorous I've seen for the price. The Italian A la Carte was great, and the Mexican Gourmet too! The Beach side restaurant was great for lunch as well. Bartenders were fun and the Beach in Cancun is great, you are able to walk as long as you wish. As always, you are asked to listen to the speech on vacation clubs, aka timeshare. The 50.00 to spend at the hotel spa or ??? is not worth my 3 hours of precious vacation time. All in all a decent hotel, would have preferred to spend less on it but it was prime vacation time.

 Somewhat ok

it's my 4th time there, at the grand Oasis, but i think i will try another hotel next time, these kids at oasis are not controllable i mean there's having a good time and going to bed at night, but most of them are loud at night so you can't sleep unless your hammered, or have ear pluggs. not impress with this, something needs to be done.,

Party Resort with Great Food and Amazing Views

This is a great resort for couples and singles who are looking for to party, have good food and service and meet a lot of new people.
Oasis resort combines 4 and 5 stars packages. The difference between 5 and 4 stars is that if you have 5 * then you will have access to more restaurant, i.e. 12 instead of 8 and you can enjoy VIP lounge bar which offers a lot of premium alcohol beverages. Also rooms on the 1 and 2 floors are for 4* tourists and floors from 3-5 are for 5* folks. Everything else is the same. You will enjoy and access resort's amenities with either 4 or 5* bracelets.

Food is amazing. There a lot of restaurant so we ate everyday at different place :). But the most memorable places are Ibiza (breakfast), Fish Restaurant (Lunch), Brazilian (dinner). Also, try Corey's (great Mexican restaurant), Lunas - Italian restaurant with a great performing show and Market Place - great buffet style restaurant with an amazing view.

Party, party, party! During our stay we had 3 discos going on at the same time. Two are inside and one is on a beach. The one that was on a beach was amazing. They set up a bunch of equipment and installed glass, color changing floor directly on a send and people were dancing on the floor. At night this set up looks amazing. Entertainment at this resort was great. We never been bored, there was always something going on during the day.

Couple of small negative things. It is windy. I should say it is always windy at this resort. Because of that there will be waves and you can burn your skin easily since you won't feel too hot.
There are also beautiful white beds on the beach. But they get occupied by people pretty quickly. So if you want one you would need to get up 6:30 or 7:00am to get one.

Don't forget to visit Xcaret. The trip is worth every penny.

Enjoy you trip!

Grand Oasis is nice - Oasis side not so good

Beautiful hotel, rooms are about 4 stars, but really how much time are you going to be in your room. Lots of choices of food, you can always find something that you like. The grounds are large, there are lots of places to grab a drink, laze around the pools or the beach. Would definitely go back.

 Great week

First impressions where great. Through out the week the rooms and grounds where well cleaned and kept care of.
There is a fare amount of placed that you can eat at with this resort, so if you have a particular taste, you can probably find it, as well as placed to drink, clubs, beach and sports bars. The pools were great one down fall which is understandable is that they closed at 7 while the swim up bars closed at 5 pm; They also discouraged people swim off the coast at7 pm also due to it not being safe and there is no life guard after those points
The staff around the resort were helpful if you need to find a location or if you were looking for direction off the resort. Though the staff at the main desk were helpful but i found slow getting to the other people in the line ups.
One down fall that after 3 days the gy was closed down due to renovations, this sucked, but i understand that upkeep must happen.
Advice for bookers, check whats included, like room service, we had order one night and when delivered we were told we had to pay.

Grand upgrade well worth the money.

We spent a week here in a group of 9 friends ranging from early 20s to early 30s. The accommodations were fine for us as we spent most of our days (& nights ;) out and abouts. The one day that it rained heavily there were leaks in many of our rooms, so don't expect true 4 or 5 star. On the other hand the pool and beach areas were quite fun, and lots of decent drinking, dining and entertainment options with the grand bracelets. If there strictly for the party, stick to regular oasis. We enjoyed the party vibe of most of the people here and the sun which I would say is what this place is known for!
May not be my first choice if traveling as a family or looking for Michelin star restaurants.
The beach is realy nice and clean but the area gets a riptide so not good for long distance swimming or snorkeling. More for playing in the waves! Staff willing to help and polite but many don't speak more than Spanish. Be careful with leaving things on the beach as a few of my items disappeared.

 Mostly positive

Front desk/reception were very difficult to deal with, also seemed as if they could be bothered to help despite the long check in lines, very aloof, maybe a langauge problem, if it is, get people that can speak English better. Very poor signage/direction as to where facilities were located.
The severs in the restaurants and housekeeping staff were all exceptional, seemed they could not do enough for you and seemed to enjoy their jobs.
Overall I say it was good resort and that we did enjoy ourselves.

 Excellent Hotel

I would return to this resort in a heartbeat. Had a wonderful time. Food is excellent, staff were excellent and fun to be had all the way around. Centrally located in case you wanted to leave the resort. Golf course right out front of the resort. Lots of pool area to swim - 3 swim up bars!Definitely a resort for all ages..

 Grand Oasis vs. Oasis Cancun

We've bought 4.5 stars hotel Grand Oasis Cancun. This hotel also has 3.5 * options called Oasis Cancun. Once we arrived at 10:00 pm we were placed in the building where room had bad smell and a lot of things were broken. The room reminded a hostel room, definitely not 4.5 stars. We couldn't sleep until 5:00 am because of the noise. There were a lot of drunk teenagers partied all night. Next day we asked to change the room and we were transferred to the other side (right side, if you face the beach). This building was much nicer and we didn't have any problems after that. However, we had a very bad first impression. Hotel staff does this to many guests and then moves people when they complain. We had 3.5 * people in our building and they've changed their room twice. At the end hotel was very busy during breakfast and there were no room in the shade on the beach. Service and foods were o'k and the beach was great. At the end we had a very good vacation, but wouldn't recommend this hotel to our friends.

 Grand Oasis

We went as a group of 11 with kids from 3-13 and the kids had a great time. The pool has shallow areas on both ends which was great for the kids. The Pool was split into the single party crowd on one side and families on the other. They had actors coming around the pool and doing little skits for us which was a nice surprise and very amusing. The hotel room was clean but we didn't have water for a part of the day almost everyday and the power would go out occasionally as well. We had maintenance issues as well and sometimes they would come right away to fix the problem and other times they wouldn't come for awhile. At check in we were given a letter that said 'to enjoy this bottle of tequila as their gift to us' but never gave us the bottle. The food was great though and with our large group they usually were able to get us a table together. Check out was a nightmare though. We had to check out by noon and were only flying home at 11pm. They kept changing their stories about what they would do for us but eventually gave us a room for an hour and a half to shower in before our shuttle came. If you are traveling with little children I would only stay at the grand oasis and not the cheaper oasis version. We heard a lot of stories of people yelling down the halls until 7 in the morning and fights happening there. The Oasis seems to be more for the younger crowd. You also seem to get better service when they saw that you had the grand oasis wrist band on.

 Party on

the hotel is being constantly maintained and they seem to care that you are satisfied with your room. Not everyone seems to be on the same page or its just that english is their second language. You should know and realize that Cancun is a party , party place. The biggest problem will be your fellow guests. If like them to be loud, young and frequently drunk then you'll have a great time. Even Sunwing reps information maybe slightly flawed, exchanging Canadian money here is a hassel and at a poor rate. Bring US and use it instead, don't exchange it there

 Grand Oasis Cancun

Hotel was beautiful with many pools and facilities. The rooms were ok. The fridge didn't work and there was no remote control for the tv. Service at the restuarants and bars was very slow and sometimes not so friendly. Given that the industry is based on tips, I'd expect better service. Food at the restuarnts was ok. Overall was a relaxing week away.
