 Clean hotel

we have been at lindo riviera maya last year and we loved it so we decided to choose cancun this time, iberostar hotels are very clean.
the beach very windy in cancun and you cannot swim always red flag
pools clean and kids pool amazing .
food is regular like other hotels we loved japonais
lobby very small.
the service is very bad so dont wait alot from the hotels , the room view is nice and worth the money but the bathroom small and hard to fit in.
we liked the hotel but we prefer to have better service somewhere else.
the show is very good and friend star have no experience dealing with ppl.
i will recommend this hotel for ppl who loves pool and sleep early,
even if you arrive early and the hotel is 70% empty they will give you the room at 3 and you wait long hours long check in

 Iberostar Cancun

Stayed on April 8-16 with my family. This hotel is solid 4 star, not 5 stars as advertised. Reception was very smooth. Rooms are big and clean, but outdated. Very small shower room, not very efficient noisy A/C. Food is a good quality, standard for that type of the resort.Staff is very friendly and helpful. Liquor selection at the bar is good enough. Beach is big and beautiful. Unfortunately it wasn't possible to swim in the ocean because of big waves. And that was one of the main reasons we came to Cancun- to enjoy swimming in the warm Caribbean sea.
Overall we had a very good time at Iberostar Cancun. The resort should be more careful with star rating not to confuse people. If compared with other 5 stars resorts like Secrets Silversands and Excellence Riviera it's rating should be downgraded to 4 star resort.

 Easter Weekend

Overall the hotel was good. With this being our first trip to Cancun, we wouldn't go back as we found it a bit too commercial. That however has nothing to do with the Hotel itself. The Iberostar in Punta Cana for example was a little more cozy and was bit off the beaten track.
Seeing that was a new Iberostar hotel, we were expecting a bit more but overall it was good. It was a 5 star hotel in all aspects.
Japanese Restaurant was fun. The Steak restaurant was good but there were only 4 other reservations that night - not sure where everyone else was. The Mexican restaurant was our least favorite.
The nightly entertainment was to be expected with the Disco night being the best.
My wife made 3 trips to the SPA and she raved about the great back massages.

Lots of room by the pool with ample shaded areas if you need to be mindful of the sun. Note, while not shown in the hotel pictures one of the big pools have a water slides and such for kids so it's not a great place to do any reading.

The all inclusive package was as expected with nice drinks, buffet meals etc..

 Iberostar Cancun

We travelled as a family with two tween/teenaged sons. This was our 2nd visit to Cancun/Riviera Maya and an amazing stay from the moment we walked in, which was a relatively short drive from the airport. Check in/out was quick and easy and we found them always accommodating. Other services available here: front desk concierge and guest services.

Rooms were lovely, modern with no issues and made up daily when requested (card displayed).
At one point our safe wouldn't lock however maintenance was prompt to resolve (battery died).

There were scheduled activities every day from 10am-5:30pm (except at lunch) run by the Star Friends entertainment and they worked hard to get guests involved but never overbearing - just very friendly. They also provided the daily evening entertainment in the theatre which changed daily and again was very energetic and entertaining.

As this is an all inclusive the food and drinks were wonderful, never boring or repetitive, the buffet offered something for any palate throughout the day. Lots of variety with both hot, grill and cold stations (loved the variety of salsa!). My boys loved breakfast with the waffles, french toast, custom omelettes and pancakes. The wait staff is excellent everywhere on the property (Bartolo always had a warm and friendly smile for everyone during his shift and teased our boys). They have 4 a la carte dinner restaurants (Mexican-beautiful oceanfront; Steakhouse; Japanese Tepanyaki-fun; French Gourmet) for which you require reservations. There was no problems booking and you could select one of these each and every day, if desired. We actually missed a reservation and were still able to rebook for the same evening.

As with any hotel along this strip, the water is rough ~ but we could still play in the beautiful azur blue waves. The interconnecting pools were great with one for just about any activity. The kids pool had water slides and splash pads. There are a number of smaller shallow pools. The swim up bar pool overlooking the ocean had waterfalls as well as an activity section. There were also 2 hot tubs. Between the pool and beach there never seemed to be a shortage of lounges, Like anywhere else, people still do "towel reserve" the "prime" pool or bed lounges very early and then either don't use them or show up sometime later in the day, which I find annoying as someone else could have used them. However, there was never a shortage.

We didn't visit the spa or golf but my husband did use the gym and thought that the equipment was professional.

Aside from the swim up bar, there were also 2 beach bars (1 served fast food type snacks between lunch and dinner) as well as the impressive lobby bar, cigar lounge/bar and the bar in the theatre (open after 5:30) - There was always somewhere to eat or drink.

My hats off to Francisco at the Teenie club for entertaining my video gaming hungry boys!

There is also a gift shop in the lobby, an on sight photographer for anyone wishing to book a photo session (portfolio looked good) and travel/tour companies for excursions.

The grounds are just beautiful with paths, lawns, gardens and waterways through the villas and around the hotel itself. The resident birds and iguanas added to the tropical ambience - just loved them!

When our flight left, the boys recognized the hotel instantly from the air ~ it stands out in every way!

 Great place, great staff

Very comfortable rooms, excellent staff. The buffet is always good, but the restaurants are iffy - great one night and disappointing the next. The beach is wonderful when it is not red flagged - lots of undertow here. Swimming pools are great. The conference rooms are very nice. Great bars and music - even karaoke. Everything closes down by midnight so not too noisy. Entertainers are very talented (yay Edy and Chocolatte!) and the theatre is beautiful.

Would go back but improvement needed

Hotel is great - so close to airport but on a beautiful stretch of beach so it feels like you are further away than you are. Huge pool area is wonderful, lots of bars and places to eat so it never feels crowded. We had ocean front junior suite which had a huge balcony overlooking beach. Hot tub though was very old and leaked and covered in paint spatters from when they painted the balcony area. We still used it and had fun but it did seem a bit "grungy". Bathroom also not that nice - the tiles in shower on floor were cracked which seemed odd as hotel was supposed to have been renovated. Maid service was TERRIBLE. Often our room, which would be empty since 9 a.m. was not clean until 5 p.m. or later. Just the time we wanted to be in our room to shower and relax before dinner, the maid would show up. She took forever to clean the room so we would have to sit out on balcony until she was done. I did complain several times but nothing ever done. Public areas of resort are gorgeous and buffet restaurants were just fine, lots of options. We also really liked the Gourmet Restaurant. Not as impressed with Japanese or Mexican and we didn't make it to the Steak House which we heard was good. Overall, I would definitely go back due to convenient location and excellent experience overall. Just need to improve maid service and maybe renovate a bit more.

 A real 5 stars!

We were updated to a deluxe balcony suite on the last floor "9th: with a beautiful view of the ocean and golf course and an immense balcony. The food is the best we ever had in Mexico (our 5th trip). The staff was excellent. Our room was very clean. Beautiful pools and.... the beach was wonderful.
