Had money stolen from the room safe

The hotel was as expected, it was fine but is due for an upgrade. The staff was mostly very friendly, none of them were rude, some were only business-like. The buffet food was excellent and the 2 ala-carte restaurants were average. The beach, pools and weather were amazing. The locals selling their goods were not too pushy, they understood that no means no. See below for details on the missing money.

 Breezes trelawny

Just got back from the Breezes and the kids had a great time. The resort is full of activities and games for the kids. The beach is one of the best beaches I have ever seen. Resort very old we had elevator out of service and power outages a few times. Needs a lot of work. also need more food selection for breakfast and buffet. However resort rooms are always clean. For the money I would go back for sure, even more do that it has been sold and is being renovated

All of the Great makes up for the Bad

There were rumours that the resort will be closing down in a few months (approx. June) to be refurbished/renovated, and that it was bought out by a new owner.

 Family Vacation w/kids

TRAVELLED WITH MY HUSBAND, MY SON, HIS WIFE AND 3 KIDS. VERY NICE PLACE FOR THE KIDS, MANY ACTIVITIES FOR THEM. ROOMS NEED UPGRADING, BUT OTHERWISE VERY CLEAN. SOME OF THE SERVICE PEOPLE WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING BUT FOUND SOME OF THEM HAD AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM. THE FOOD WAS GREAT NO COMPLAINS. OUR KIDS DID NOT GET SICK AT ALL. IF YOU TRAVEL WITH KIDS OR ELDERLY REQUEST ROOMS IN THE LOWER ROOMS, TOO MANY STAIRS AND ELEVATORS NOT TOO RELIABLE. DAUGHTER IN LAW GOT STUCKED IN ELEVATOR IN DARKNESS WITH 10 MONTH OLD, NOT A GREAT MOMENT.

Good Resort, Great for families with kids

Other than the dated rooms, the overall experience was great. Excellent entertainment and great activities for kids. Only 2 restaurants, but great food. Very helpful staff. If on a bduget and have kids, you should go.

 Family Getaway from Reality!

As others mentioned, the hotel was constantly being maintained....floors - railings - gazebos painted daily, grounds keepers always pruning/landscaping, you know what I mean. As for the hotel, ya - it's dated and looks "worn" but if you're expecting a 4 star then you shouldn't go. I apparently am a 4 star type of traveller so wouldn't recommend this particular hotel just for the "feel" of the buffet tables and chairs - dining on a patio set day in and day out not my idea of a dining experience especially for the dinner buffet when I'm all dressed up for the evening.

With the negative being said....this hotel offers soooooo much for the family to do....mini golf, tennis, basketball, 2 waterslides, 4-5 pool tables in the pools, 4 pools, glass bottom boat rides, snorkelling, beautiful beach, water volleyball, loungers in the pool, tables in the pool, arcade for rainy days, a live band for night entertainment, trapeze, rock-climbing wall, food-food and more food! Also, for those who drink apparently more than I can handle...the drink selection was phenomenal - just ask to see the bar menu!

On a personal note....if you're not a type A personality - don't venture to the "mall" beside the resort after having a few too many drinks! Once you make a "promise" to one proprietor they will remember it - even if you return 4 days later!

 Breezes Trelawny

Nice place, beach would have been nice but it was too windy to go snorkeling, red flag day every day that we where there, lots of variety in food, excellent resort for families with small children, lots of day trips to do from there, Mystic Mountain is a must, this includes chair lift to top of a mountain, nice views, bobsledding, and ziplining back down, Dunn's falls is also a must do, these are all about 1 hour away from the resort, combine these trips, much cheaper, river tubing was also worth the $, you can tube, board, kayak or raft, not very strong rapids, off the resort vendors/people very pushy and tricky, at the airport, carry your own suitcase as without knowing you will be charged, resort overall was not the quality of a Breezes, I didn't mind though, would return with my kids.

Not at all what i expected

First of all we arrived late and usually you have someone there to greet you we had nobody there travelled most of the day hungry thirsty and the resort did not really care..the bar you had to stand in a line up to have a drink ..entertainment was horrible..food was ok....rooms were ok....beach was good...would not recommend my Canadian travellers to go there you would be very disappointed..i will never be returning to this resort

Second trip in two years and will come again!

This is a 3 1/2* building with 5* food, grounds and staff! Having travelled over 30 times in the past 25 years in 3* and 4* resorts in Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Mexico, this was by far the best food encountered; the buffet food was exceptional (quality, variety and always hot). Great selection at the bars, including Canadian whiskies.

This is defintely a NO TIPPING resort as the staff can get in trouble if they accept a tip, however, for exceptional service (like the groundskeeper who repaired my broken sandal and the maintenance supervisor who repaired my suitcase zipper) a discreet tip was in order.

The building itself could use some touch-ups but everything worked well and the exceptional cleanliness made up for it. This is a great family resort with many activities for the kids.

The grounds are well landscaped and maintained. The pools are always clean, as is the beach in front of the resort. There are a dozen or so locals with shops just off the resort property but these are not a problem if you politely decline to visit their shops; resort security take down your name and room number when you leave the property to make sure you come back safely.

Apart from the food, the resort's main asset is their employees. Everyone we met went out of their way to be helpful, friendly and were prepared to do almost anything to fulfill your requests particularly the Activities people. The Manager, A/Manager and the Food & Bar Manager were often seen walking around the property to talk to the guests and obtain feedback on the resort and its services. Any complaints were immediately addressed.

Great value for the price! Will definitely return next year!

 Awesome!

We attended my daughter's wedding at BT and the staff are great, especially Odane. The wedding coordinator, Christie had absolutely everything under control. We had a great time. The food is good, drinks are plenty. Yes, the rooms are tired, but who spends all their time in their room anyway? Tons of free things to do like glass bottom boat, sailing, canoes, snorkelling, mini golf, rock climbing wall, an entire games room and pool tables as well as the chance to learn trapeze. It was awesome!

 OK but not Great.

Below expectations. Dated rooms. Poor quality furnishings. Hard bed. No running water one day. Many beach chairs were in need of repair. Rooms were clean and maid services were good. Poor beach cleanup, with no refuse containers. Staff just said throw your garbage in the bushes. Food options were limited and there was nothing for kids at the dinner buffet like pizza, hot dogs or hamburgers. Breakfast buffet was the best. Lots of seaweed on the beach. Slow food services, ran out of clean dishes, coffee not ready, many food trays empty. Limited dining and kitchen staff. Guest services always staffed and helpful. Child activites were good. Guest notifications re hotel events was poor ex. we never knew they had a lobster night, high tea and no buffet menus were posted. No free wifi.

 Worthwile visit

Hotel is older but clean, staff is fine and friendly food fine also. The natives off of the resort ruin it for the rest with their constant badgering for tips , to buy their marijuana or to make you uncomfortable by offering sexual favours to any females in your group....... they are totally annoying and need to straighten up in that area or continue to lose out in the tourism industry..........

 We didnt go there

We didnt go there because we were bumped to another resort. Itravel overbooked. We were travelling with 14 people and only 4 got bumped so we were unable to spent our vacation with friends and family that we booked back in October.

 Not Breezes Trelawny

Four days before our departure date, I received an email advising me that the resort was overbooked for that date and that we were upgraded to the Jewel Dunnes River in Ochio Rios. I had booked in October! My sister also received the same email. I then tried to contact my contact at Itravel 2000 to no avail. Fourteen hours and 7 people later I still hadn't been able to talk to anyone about the hotel change. We were meeting a party of 8 flying out of Montreal and they were not bumped. I just wanted to see what we could do about meeting up with them later in the week. No luck!!

After a 4 1/2 hr flight delay out of Toronto, we arrived in Montego Bay only to find that there was no room on the bus. After waiting 45 min. we were on a bus. Upon arriving at the resort around 6:30 pm, our room wasn't ready.

So, how do you book in October (4 months in advance) to find an overbooked resort, no room on the transfer bus and no room ready. How far in advance do you have to book?

I had visited Breezes Trelawny last year so I will base my evaluation on that experience.

 Breezes Trelawny-Allez-y !

Une semaine extraordinaire au Breezes. Soleil mur à mur. Vrai que l’hôtel est un peu vieillot mais tout le reste nous fait facilement oublier l’âge de ce complexe. Voici mes appréciations;

 Ok..but not great!

Was not allowed on the shuttle to our resort from the airport until we ALL tipped the attendant (not the driver)a $5 minimum. Very friendly staff and clean rooms...when they were done. Resort itself needs some major upgrading overall. Rooms need new bed, linens, dressers and even patio doors. The greenery is sad looking, not kept up well. The buffet area is way too small for so many guests, they're constantly running out of food. The food is the same every day for every meal too. Constantly calling housekeeping for towels, face clothes, water in our always empty fridge, coffee for our coffee pot etc.. our room (437) wasn't ever done before 3pm.
The beach was littered with garbage at 9am every morning from the day before, cigarette butts, plastic cups etc..
Will never recommend this resort to anyone!!

 Honeymoon in Jamaica

Just returned from our Honeymoon in Jamaica - Breezes Trelawny. We read on tripadvisor bad and good reviews - so we weren't sure what to expect. On our arrival it looked old and run down - but in our week there, we found it to be clean, well kept, and they were repainting outdoor patios and huts. It is older, and the taps, water pressure could use some fixing, but the rooms were decent, clean and comfortable. The grounds were amazing, the beach was spectacular, and the food and drinks were awesome. Never been anywhere tropical, so for a first vacation like this, it was great. If you're looking for having fun, doing lots of activities (if you want), or just relaxing on the beach - this is the place. and if you go - you must do the Luminous Lagoon tour - it is amazing!!

 More for Partying

The wonderful staff of this hotel deserve to work in nicer surroundings. The outside of the hotel is so run down looking. When we arrived by large bus going to Ocho Rios (as our shuttle had left without 6 of us on it) there was an audible "oh" from the other passengers. This hotel definitely needs beautifying by way of fresh paint and a good cleaning on the outside.

Reception was not as friendly as we had hoped upon arrival (even though we were the only ones checking in). They did put us in a room immediately though (we arrived around 9:30am).

Accomodations were a bit yucky and definitely not because of housekeeping (we had a housekeeper named Cheryl who was absolutely fabulous). The doors had gaps in them which let in bugs and the decor was extremely tired and dated. We did have a fabulous view of the ocean and of the first pool and buffet area. In this area there was also a nightly band or other form of entertainment stupidly placed outside of the main hotel area and starting anywhere from 8pm to 9pm. The amplifiers were turned up so loud it sounded like a rock concert right outside your balcony and there was no escape. My children and ourselves had a hard time falling asleep anytime before 11pm because of the noise. Then we had to contend with the drunks leaving the disco (entrance right outside of the stage area as well) yelling. The hotel echoes badly and is always loud - there is no escape from sound or people. The resort is extremely small.

The food there is exceptional. We went to the buffet 5 nights for dinner and once to the "nicer" restaurants.

The people who work at the resort (besides the women in main reception) are terrific; but my husband and I are the type of people who talk to everyone - about their day, their lives. They like this and really open up to you. Just beautiful people who made our trip wonderful.

My husband and I felt that coffee should just be provided in the rooms without having to ask for it and water should definitely be included in the rooms (you had to buy it from the gift shop who had a monopoly on it).
