 Great vacation!

had a great vacation and would recommend this resort to anyone.the location was about 40 minutes from the airport, the grounds were beautiful and i have never seen a more spacious pool.a very large resort and a bit of a walk to the nicest beach but well worth it once you got there.

Very nice hotel, but service was poor

Travelled to the resort for 7 days for a wedding. The premises are very nice: spacious rooms, very well maintained buildings, and everything was very well cleaned. The restaurant choices were plenty (we didn't get a chance to try all of them!) and the main pool is stunning. The adults only pool and beach area is a real bonus too for those who don't loud music, partyers, or crying babies. The downside was the poor service, or more precisely, inconsist service quality. We oftentimes had to reorder drinks, or wait 15-20 min at the bar before getting a chance to order. The final blow was the discovery that I was missing a shirt from my suitcase. After a very thorough search of the room and both my and my friend's suitcase (a search that was reconducted by the hotel sercurity), we concluded that the shirt was really missing, though I had seen it the day before. I had to file a security report with the hotel staff, but did not get an impression that anything would come out of it. It's not that the shirt was valuable, but I didn't particularly feel good that someone (i.e. maid(s)) felt OK to help themselves to my luggage in the privacy of my room. As it happened on our last day there, it really put a damper on our entire stay. :S

 Incredible

Everything about the Hotel and Resort, i thought was amazing. The only downside i can think of would be excursions. They were quite expensive, and limited us to what we could do, though we wanted to try everything. Otherwise amazing experience.

 Grand Palladium Jamaica

It's a big resort, get ready to walk. Honeymoon suit was exceptionnal, but air conditionning couldn't keep up with the room. Food was good and so was the choice of alcohol. Employees on clean up duties of beach ain't in no hurry to pick up the algea on 1 of the beaches.

 Good hotel with some downfalls

I really enjoyed my stay at the Grand Palladium. The hotel site was beautiful. The food was great. The beaches and pool were as expected. Everything was really clean.

I have two concerns with my stay. One was the lack of towels for three days. On day one of discovering that all our towels were taken, we called the front desk to be told towels would be coming. They never came. Day 2, we asked the cleaning staff (we had been tipping daily) and found out that the washer was broken so no towels were available. We had travelled with a large group for a wedding and learned that we were the only block without towels... On day 3, bribing got us some extra towels from somewhere but other rooms were still unable to get towels. The tipping/bribing seemed to be the only way to get service. This also seemed to be the way at the buffets.

Although this experience tainted my view of this hotel, I would say it was a decent all inclusive overall. Do expect to have to pay if things aren't up to your expectations.

 ABSOLUTLY AWESOME!

I'll make this quick and easy for you. My wife and I had an awesome time and we have NO complaints. Don't believe any of the negative reviews. Anyone leaving negative reviews must of had issues with something else and just took it out on the review. Our plane was 4 hours delayed and when we got there at 7am in the morning our room was waiting for us! Just go and have yourself a great time! Remember...there are no problems, just situations! This place is on our must return list!

 Great Vacation!

Overall this hotel is excellent! My only real negative would be that the beach isn't great. Given we are beach lovers this was a bit of disappointment however not a total surprise given some of the reviews we had read. Fortunately the beautiful pools made up for what the beach lacked. The rooms were beautiful and clean, the food was excellent (although the a-al-cart restaurant schedule was a bit confusing), the staff was friendly and best of all the weather was perfect! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

 Grand Palladium

Looks great and the food and beaches are excellent. Room was musky and I think bed bugs feasted on us. Be prepared to tip for everything so if you spent all your money to get here it is a real drain on your back up funds. Did not feel to safe in this resort either. I will leave it at that

 Never again

The initial welcome was good the young man tried to find us an up grade to the Lady Hamilton side but could not however he got us an ocean view room in a unit close to the main building. The welcome package was not given out and things seemed a bit disorganized and the staff for the most part were unhappy. The food in the ala carte restaurants was not up to standard ordered steaks medium and they came out blue (very rare) they were seared on all sides, the second evening we had Chinese the noodles were not cooked stir fried but raw (we were not the only ones to experience this), the staff seemed unconcerned about the quality and offered no solutions. The other major opportunity was the drinks we asked for certain things(Baileys, Sambuca, Remy) we were told they had run out this went on for days then after pressuring one of the staff some Baileys appeared, also there was 1 other incident were we saw other guests with mojito's and when my wife asked for one they were out of mint (which a weed and grows wild on the property??) when pushed again some appeared when I saw someone bring some in, there were also the lack of Jamacian delicacies (beef patties, over proof rum, ackee and salt fish, and sorrel which is in season).
The most disturbing thing was that I could not get a straight answer as to who or where the head chef was from ( told he was German and then Jamacian) I did also try to find the General manager on the last day because I did witness staff transfer the bar brand alcohol into premium bottles.
The nightly entertainment was wonderful the music and bands great, the buffet, the spa, the massage, and the pools were also good.
The most disturbing thing was the letter on Travel adviser about a guest being robbed at knife point and the management did nothing for them along with the lack of notification to the other guests about incident or their interest about their safety. the other thing happened on the last day we were there I asked for the General managers business card at the front desk and was told they did not have any the staff was very reluctant to provide me with any information about him, then I saw one of the corporate advisers from Spain and asked her if she had any cards she said that they should have them at the desk. I asked her to get one for me if she could she went to the desk and was also told they did not have any she was very agitated about the response she then excused herself and went to the office which was steps away and returned with a box of cards which she put on the counter in a holder that had appeared and gave me one I thank her and looked back at the desk staff who ( if looks could kill) were not happy.

This is our experience no what was to be a celebration of my wife's birthday and our anniversary.
About me I grew up with a father as a chef, have worked in the service industry as a manager and am a business owner , we are both very well traveled and I do not complain a lot about anything because I know that things happen but when it is a systemic and a constant I do feel that I have to inform someone to maybe to correct them.
I do hope that this does not fall on deaf ears and that corrections are made the resort looks good appearance wise with the exception of the cracks and the need for some paint for a 5 year old venue ?? construction issues this is maybe a 2 star resort and this is very disappointing.

 Had a amazing week

This is a amazing resort,it is very large so not great if you dont want to do alot of walking.Beaches are nice to look at but only sunset cove is good for swimming.Jerk hut on the beach so yummy.Rooms are beautiful and clean, everything worked. No problems with insects my only complaint is the bed is extremely hard and uncomfortable.Staff are simply amazing and made our holiday so much fun.Never asked for tips, but a small tip made the service go from good to amazing.I would definetly recommened this resort and cant wait to go back.the only negative for me is the uncomfortable bed.

 Was disappointed

This is apparently a Family resort, but about 90% of guests smoke. Even though the rooms are 'smoke free', smoke still comes in through Air conditioner. People even smoked in the pool! You couldn't get away from it and it was a complete turn-off for our family. Another thing- the 'nice' beach "Sunset Cove" is absolutely abysmal and very small. It is full of seaweed and little pebbles, ants EVERYWHERE and sand crabs!! Our son couldn't even dig through the sand because the crabs were literally popping up everywhere. The telephone in our room stank terribly like B.O and urine, and so did one of the pillows. Also, we borrowed one of the cars for my son to ride in from the Mini-club, but you had to carry it down all of the stairs to get around-- even if you went to the beach, there were stairs to get down! So NO, this is NOT a child-friendly resort b/c people with strollers cannot get around! Thankfully we brought our baby-carrier to wear. The front desk staff are NOT friendly upon first arrival. On a positive note, all other staff members were wonderful and accommodating and friendly. After being at GRAND PALLADIUM MAYA RIVIERA twice and absolutely loving it, we will not be returning to this resort, or to Jamaica in the future. Also, clientele was mostly young couples and weddings.

 Nice place

We had a great time. Good place for families. Food was fantastic and resort staff were almost perfectly friendly and happy to be there. This is a newer facility and by and large it is very well run, but:

If you love an excellent beach, go elsewhere. The main beach in particular has a ton of sharp coral; wear water shoes if you must go there. The sunset cove is the best beach of the three.

If you have a choice, stay on the Lady Hamilton side. Most of the facilities and restaurants are there, saving you a fair bit of walking.

Bring lots of US$1.00 bills for tipping, especially at the airport. Baggage handlers outside the airport and bus drivers aren't shy about asking for tips.

Finally, if you smoke, bring extra. The groundskeepers and maintenance personnel won't hesitate to ask you for cigarettes if they see you smoking. I figure I gave out half a pack over the course of a week, but I didn't mind. They were exceptionally nice people, and fun to chat with.

 Fantastic

Upon our arrival to the hotel, the first thing you see in the background is the ocean. Immediately you feel relaxed and excited. Although the service is extremely slow, I believe Jamaican lifestyle is different then what we are accustomed to,as in other countries. What they say is true however, if you are nice to the staff, they will return the favor and make sure that you have everything you need! The rooms were not as clean or fully provided with towels and other as we had wished but we were on vacation and these minor details did not bother us at all! Who spends their time in the room anyway?
Another important factor is that if one wishes to do one of the tours, make sure you ask alll the questions necessary because they will not provide you with that information: such as what what the tour includes or not.
The access to multiple beaches, and the giant pool area was fantastic!
The beach was relaxing and quiet, whereas if you wish more noise and excitment the pool area is guaranteed a great time!!!

But the best part of the hotel is the entertainment! The daily staff providing all sorts of activities all day long with a lot of fun and energy. They cant help make you smile and enjoy yourself. So friendly and fun!
The same goes for the night entertainment, with live shows and live bands, beach parties and fires, we absolutely loved our stay at the Grand Palladium.
We fell in love with the resort, the staff and the people. Overall great vacation, was sad to leave and would recommend!

 Great Price! Great Vacation!

We had a great time at the Grand Palladium Jamaica. Traveling was just my husband(30)and I (25).
Check in was fairly quick, about 5-10 min wait and we were welcomed with rum punch. Our room was a good size and was nice. The bed was quite uncomfortable and the room always felt a little sticky and humid. The AC worked well and kept the room cool but it was always a little sticky and damp feeling.

The pool area and pool was beautiful. We spent most days in the pool and enjoying the pool bar. There was always lots of activities going on at the pool which we enjoyed.

There were 3 small beaches at this resort. The Sunset Cove beach was the best and was a 5 min walk from the pool area. This is where the water sports are located. The only draw back was that the beaches were too small to have a long walk on the beach and I did miss that.

There were lots of restaurant options. We loved the breakfast buffet and we usually had lunch at the pool side buffet which always had a good variety. For dinner there were many al la carte options. We tried the Creole, Mexican, Steakhouse, and Italian. We liked them all.
We really enjoyed the nightly entertainment. The shows were entertaining and we always loved the live bands that played at the infinity bar at night. One night they had a bonfire on the beach and it was great!

All in all we had a great vacation, which was made even better because we got a great deal.

During our week there we saw 5 different weddings. The resort appears to do a great job hosting weddings and providing the wedding with a private area. Also a great place for families. We saw and spoke to many families with children and there were many activities for the children.
