 Best 2 weeks

From the time you arrive you are greeted and felt special. Check in is a breeze.Grounds are outstanding beach is amazing can walk at least 3 km each way very private. Horse back riding on the beach included with your stay, activities at the pool are the most fun great way to meet other travellers.Food great varity speciality restaurants were excellent.Every night after 6 entertainment can have a dance before dinner or after great shows.

 Worth every dollar

No disappointments on the Resort, food, restaurant accessibility. Pool and Beach are paradise. We will return for sure. I was also pleasantly surprised with the shows. I only hope the D.R. improves on the roads, this will eventually choke off future tourism and growth if not corrected.

 Relaxing Holiday

Very nice clean hotel. Staff were amazing and very friendly. Hotel is getting a bit dated but they are always working on it i.e. painting, cleaning, etc.

Beautiful resort. Small than many of the all inclusives which made everything very accessible. Staff were consistently "excellente". Meals were good and venues very pleasant. Very relaxing, great beach for long walks. Highly recommended.

 A Great Get Away Break

A very accommodating hotel, friendly, helpful staff. Spacious rooms, Lovely pool area, great beach for long walks. The property was well cared for. Rooms restocked with amenities daily. Good variety of food choices. Good evening entertainment.

 RETURNING AGAIN

This resort has been a draw for us for several years now. There cannot be enough said about the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to make our stay better and better each year we return. The lovely ladies at the Toscana every morning, Magaly and Ledelkys who have started off each of our days with their welcoming smiles and attentive service; Victor and Tomas who always stopped to speak and make sure all was okay and Victor at the Barcelona whose service and attention to detail excelled; Gremi at the Martini Bar who has taken very good care of us year after year. To our concierge Maria Isabel, kudos and to Vidal who was our main man at Cielo. These are only a few of the special and wonderful people we have had the pleasure to get to know at the Excellence. This resort has been aptly named.

 OUTSTANDING IN EVERY WAY

This will be 7 years now and Excellence PC never ceases to amaze us. Each year - somehow is even better than the former. If you ever ask for something..they remember you the next year and automatically look after your wishes. Staff are personable and professional..food and service is unequalled in our 25 years in the caribbean (and over 35 holidays in these islands). We do not use the equipment at the beach (boats, etc) - so we are not adversely impacted by the surf.

 You will never want to leave

We just came back from our two weeks vacations in Exellence Punta Cana. That was our forth trip to Dominican Republic and we are happy that we choose that hotel. There is nothing negative to say about this hotel and so many positive that I will just have to choose my favorite to tell about. #1 staff at the hotel is the friendlies happiest most eager to please bunch of hard working people . They make us feel welcome and we felt like we are long friends with many of them before we had to leave. Special thanks to Victor restaurants manager who was always making sure that we are happy with the service and yes we were . Hello to my favorite hostess at breakfast Dakajri and Santa Maria from The Grill who made our last dinner a lot of fun. I feel that staff of that hotel make the place really worth to visit . #2 beautiful big beach with plenty of palapas and lots of space also you can walk miles completely undisturbed.The water is choppy but fun if you don't want to go to far. I appreciated the fact that there is life guard on duty . #3 the grounds are beautiful there is a garden with flamingos and other birds you can feed and enjoy also the greenery just amazing to see and the setting of the hotel is easy to walk through clean and beautiful #4 wonderful pool going forever with lots of chairs and beds in garden setting we are beach people but a lot of younger guest seemed to have a blast . #5 food very good everywhere we went.Breakfast buffet at Toscana was our favorite good selection fresh fruit and juices and super omelets for my husband. Dinners in seven restaurants no reservations no lineups and really no favorite as they all were good with different things to offer. You can check the menu in front. For five guys need to wear long pants sandals are ok and really no need to stress about wardrobe although lots of people liked to dress up.#6 room specious comfortable huge bed good size shower no problem with water flat screen TV fridge with endless supplies of water soft drinks beer coffee maker everything in good working condition and clean clean clean

 Excellence Punta Cana - Dec 27 to Jan 3

We were Excellence Club members that paid for a swim-up, oceanview room. Our room was definitely not swim-up (pool was 20 meters away) and you couldn't see the ocean from the ground floor. Being an Excellence club member puts you the furthest away from the lobby and most restaurants. Our room had many problems which were reported and not fixed. Jacuzzi tub didn't work, screen door was broken and off it's rail, shower handle was broken. The concierge service was not truly 'butler' service, as experienced in other resorts. If ordering room service is what your looking for then upgrading to excellence club is worth it but that's the only real distinguishing feature. That being said, the resort is quite nice. The a la carte dinners were excellent. The drinks were excellent. The beach was excellent. Next time we won't pay for all of the upgrades because in our case it wasn't worth it. However, I would go back but only if there is a good deal to be had.

 Great service!!!

great hotel, beautiful, great rooms, would not pay for an upgrade, we had a garden suite which was great. The service is second to none, outstanding very attentive. The food is good, but it lacks some flavour, fish was overcooked, steak was great, buffet if you are not there early, then the food is sitting too long, need to put less amount of each item but refilled more often when required. The ocean we could not use due to the strong current. beautiful beach but I would like to have been able to swim or play in the ocean, maybe it is less fearce later in the year. The pool was great, lots of chairs and beds, very comfortable. The pool floaters where great, just need more of them.

 AWESOME VACATION SPOT

This was our first time to this resort. We were given the option of trading our room (2nd floor) to a ground floor the next day. No hassles, no interruption to our vacation. Room service was top notch with our bed being turned down every night along with the next day itinerary of what was being offered through out the resort. Almost all staff spoke English and smiles were plentiful from everyone. A la carte restaurants decor was stylish and if your meal was not to your liking - just return it and the chef will prepare something else for you.
Definitely will return again for a relaxing spot to vacation !! If you run into a young lady named Yohanna tell her we say hi from Canada :) We give it a thumbs up.

 Ce fut du vrai repos...

Une place paisible et agréable pour du repos et profiter du soleil. Le service est excellent de l'accueil jusqu'à la plage. Le personnel est attentionné. La qualité de la nourriture est excellente. Par contre, certains menus sont à éviter, car ce ne sont pas leur spécialités: le Spice (asiatique). Les goûts sont personnels à chacun...

 Fantastic resort

All in all this resort is fantastic. I have not experienced that kind of customer service at any other resort I stayed at.
My only concerns were the food and the beach. Here is why:
I like ALOT of salt on my food at home. At the resort, I found the food salty which says something. I watched the pasta cook dump about a tablespoon of salt in one portion of cooked pasta.
At the buffet only, I found a lot of dishes not to be kept very warm.

The beach itself was absolutely gorgeous. It was very well kept. Unfortunately, the water was more catered to surfers. The waves were very strong. I talked to people at a few other resorts and the said their beach had those reef walls that slow down the waves. They had no issues with waves.

I highly recommend the Excellence hotel chain. I think we will try the one in Mexico next.

 BEWARE BED BUGS!!!

We returned last Thursday evening from a 5 day stay at Excellence Punta Cana. Having booked what our reputable provider's guide calls a 5 star property, we were comfortable travelling to this location. I would like to point out that we have travelled numerous times to the Caribbean, staying at a variety of properties over the years. I understand fully that a five star property in the Caribbean is in no way a Ritz Carlton, however, to us, a 5 star designation means clean accommodations, comfortable beds, edible food, a clean, beautiful beach, pool and grounds. This property did not deliver on these criteria and was nothing more than a highly upsetting experience.

First, the most distressing part of this vacation were the bedbugs. We awoke in pain the first night covered in bites all over our feet and legs. We reported the incident to the front desk who assured us that they were nothing more than sand flea bites and to avoid the beach at night. This continued every night and the bites extended to all areas of our bodies despite completely avoiding the beach area. The front desk staff laughed at us when we reported it again and told us that there was nothing they could do for us. I was unable to get a full night sleep (sleeping for no more than a couple hours a night!) for the remainder of this so called vacation. Now home, I am covered in horrendous patches of bites all over my body including my feet, legs, arms, back and stomach. I am also terrified to bring my luggage into my home for fear that I brought these insects home… it remains on my balcony as I write this review. I conducted a google search to find out if anyone else had experienced this, and in fact, there have been numerous reports identical to ours at this property.

This property is no more than a 3 star property (by Caribbean standards!!) The rooms were damp, musty smelling and not well kept, and the beds very hard and complete with flat foam pillows (in addition to the bedbugs!). The beach was okay – certainly not the white sand that is promised but nice enough so long as you didn’t venture past the property line where horses are kept and leave droppings all over the sand (which ended up in the water as the waves come crashing in!) Also, the staff did not serve premium alcohol as was also indicated in the location guide – it was displayed behind the bar but what was poured was the local malt liquor. You have to watch them like hawks to ensure that you receive the international brands. We spent most of our time by the pool but by noon loud, drunk groups ruined any tranquility that the morning hours offered – staff did nothing to quiet them and continued to feed them alcohol most of which ended up spilling into the pool water (or them spitting it into the water!!)

All in all, this was not what I would consider a vacation. It was stressful and upsetting. We work long hours and needed this time to decompress and relax … today, we feel no more than disappointed and exhausted.

My advice, GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!!!

 Excellence Punta Cana

We just got back from the Excellence Punta Cana and are already talking about going back. Everything was totally 'Excellante'. The staff was very friendly and accommadating, the food was superb, the beach was beautiful, the service was very good. The resort itself is lovely, very clean and well laid out. There are plenty of bars thru out so you never have to go far for a cold, refreshing drink. There are plenty of palapas and lounge chairs so it was never necessary to reserve chairs. The staff will do anything for you and will always do their best to fulfill your requests.It is definitely worth the extra to book Excellence Club, there is a lounge where you can get drinks and warm and cold snacks, coffee etc. Henry, the lounge waiter is excellent and Gerson, the concierge at the lounge was always friendly and smiling. This is the 8th resort we have visited, having previously been to Cuba, the DR, Mexico and Jamaica and it is by far the best 5 star that we have been to. It truly lives up to its name 'Excellence'. The only word of caution I would mention is that there seems to be biting bugs in the balcony furniture (not in the rooms). I came back with a lot of bites that I can only assume came from that furniture, so maybe you should take some 'Raid'.

 Beyond expectations

It was wonderful. Would have liked the walk in to the pool though. We had the second floor overlooking the pool. It was a nice room. I am a fussy eater but I found everything I had was great.

 Relaxing time

Trip to the hotel took about 1.5 hours from the airport. Flight times didnt really give any time during travel days. The resort is very friendly and everything is maintained to a high standard.

 Awesome Vacation

Beautiful lobby, awesome pool, fantastic beach, great food, wholesome people from top to bottom and outmost generous with the all inclusive. We would go again in a heart beat. We did not care about the small stuff such as a lamp not being grounded in the room or a leek from the shower above us. We know they will restore room by room in time. We saw the bigger picture and for us it was the best vacation we ever had. Simply stunning.

As far as the hotel is concerned, it is quite good but the food is a very weak point. there is no buffet for supper and only a la carte. with the exception of 2 of the a la cartes, all the others are mandatory pants and dress shirt. In 32 to 35 degrees temp with super humidity, this is something they should review. The overall hotel, while quite beautiful and hi class, needs to convert their "theatre" section into an indoor section as the heat and humidity, again, cause a big point of discomfort. Out door activities are also somewhat weak in variety. My recommendation: if you don't care about the food and wish to just lounge all day long, then this hotel is a MUST.

 Great stay at Excellence Punta Cana!

We did quite a bit of research before deciding to go with Excellence Punta Cana, and we were not disappointed.

The service is great -- everyone is extremely friendly and eager to please. The food was delicious, both in the buffet and in the restaurants. There are 8 restaurants in total; we didn't even get the chance to try out all of them.

The entire setup of the resort is beautiful, very visually appealing!! One of the things I was most impressed with was that there was not a single bug in our room!!!

The beach was gorgeous!!!! The water was clear and clean, as was the bottom of the ocean.

One note: May is apparently rainy season...this means more rain (it rained almost every day we were there, although only ever for a couple of hours at a time) and also more mosquitoes.

I highly recommend this resort and would go back.

 Excellente!

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'endroit, on le recommande les yeux fermés! Le fait de ne pas avoir à réserver aux huit (8) restaurants à la carte est le point fort du Excellence Punta Cana. La plage, malgré le vent, est propre et elle permet des marches de plusieurs kilomètres. Le personnel est accueillant, courtois et très gentil. La chambre est grande et confortable. Nous n'avons que du positif et nos projets sont d'essayer les 'Excellence" du Mexique.

 We will return...

4th time at this resort and we were not disappointed. Everything was perfect! When we arrived we were upgraded to an Ocean View room from a Garden View. Champagne and fruit bowl were awaiting us. It was a very lovely surprise.
We spent a week at Secrets St James in Jamaica in January of this year and the service, beach, and food etc. are far superior at Excellence Punta Cana. January 2010, we thought we would try the newer Excellence resort in Mexico. It was very nice but we still prefer the one in the DR. and we will definitely be back. Thank you to the wonderful staff.
