The reosort was beautiful, clean, food was great :)

Just came back from Punta Cana,Apr 7th/2012,we had very good time,the room we stayed at was very clean,everything was working fine,no complains,food was OK, i like fish,which we had every day but my husband is a meat lover and the roast beef was so hard,you need a forest axe to cut it,never mind about chewing;was a disaster; there was a nice concert every night,staff was very polite, Overall, it was truly a vacation we will remember well.

moi et ma copine avons pris 1 semaines, pour ce qui es du site et de l'hotel, c'était tres propres et asser grand pour ne pas dire trop,un buffet sur le bord de la mer qui es tres apprecier la bouffe tres bonne. les restos a la carte devraient cependant revoir leur menus mais la bouffe reste bonne.il y a bien sur beaucoup de solicitation et pour un gars qui avait juste ete a cuba auparanvant je vais vous dire que je ne m'attendais pas a cela. mais bon c'est la république dominicaine. un non bien franc et il ne vous achale plus. j'y retournerais bien.

More than we expected. The wine was terrible (they should offer a menu you can purchase something from) The March break students were out of control. The hotel did their best with this. I would go back.Pizza place 5 star!

This is the worst hotel/resort I have stayed in. Moldy, dirty, bad staff service, horrible food, bugs in room.
The cleaner cleaned out toilet then used the same cloth to (clean??) our drinking glasses leaving behind someone else's hair(not from a head either). Most staff could not speak English.
We had to fight with them to change our room. Our updated room had plaster falling off the wall. Safe was broken and cud not lock stuff away. Our room was compromised and my passport was taken out of my bag and left out. We clearly locked out patio door and the peg that they have to avoid the door opening was moved which allowed the door to open from outside.
Most of the staff do not speak English. If you ask for something they just walk away.
The food was nasty. Almost everything in a sauce or gravy to try to make it tender. Did not work.
People had cockroaches in their rooms(big enuf to ride they said)
The air conditioners are so loud.
When someone would leave their room and close door, the building literally shook.
Air Canada should be ashamed of themselves promoting this resort.
I could go on and on but I'm sure you get the point-AVOID COMPLETELY.

The beach and the food was really good. The bedrooms are in need of major updating.

We loved our vacation at Occidental. The pool bartender Henry was great!
The buffet was huge with a lot of choices. The only bad thing was not enough lounge chairs.

The hotel room was ok, nothing fancy, just basic.

The food was very good lots of variety. The coffee was not so good, bring your own if you can.

The beach was beautyful. Very clean. Constant waves but can still swim.

The hotel surrounding was well maintained.

The staff is friendly.

We had a great deal of fun - well laid out - some wonderful staff - a bit dated but still serviceable - food better than expected - beach lovely- large very rowdy groups coming in towards the end of our trip were a bit disruptive (too old to join in that fun I guess).

Du vrai varsol,,,la seurveuse Devrais gouter avant de servir,,hotel en general tres propre,,8 personne 4 chambre et une seulement avec eau chaude,, et air canada. Pas bon manque de vin et nouriture

Grand site défraichie. Chambres au bloc 15 défraichies ,au bloc 12 acceptables,mais très humides. Donne très bon services,mais d'un autre côté aurait besoin de beaucoup de rénovation
.Cependant j'ai payé 1000$,donc c'était normal,mais mon amie avait payé 1450$ et là pour elle c'étais bien ordinaire

For a budget vacation, this is the perfect resort. The buffet food was great with plenty of selection. The a la carte restaurants had good food, except for the Oriental. Never enough loungers at the beach or by the pool. The beach itself is beautiful. The main pool is nice and the foliage around the hotel is lovely. The alcohol was not always the best (the margaritas are terrible). The staff are friendly, but there are a lot of staff stopping you to ask you questions when you just want to be left alone. The resort is in a good location; we were able to walk off the grounds and shop at Plaza Bavaro and elsewhere. All in all, we had a great vacation and were not disappointed.

Semaine très agréable en tout point. C'est un excellent 4* très bonne bouffe beaucoup de choix. Hotel très propre, très belle chambre avec écran ACL et matelas comfortable. La plage et la mer sont magnifique. Toute mes demandes lors de la réservation on été respecté se qui est rare. En passant si vous vouler acheté un massage, pose d'ongle ou tresse Alberto fait de bon rabais, il se promène sur le site et vous en offre, il parle francais.

The hotel was a very clean, well laid out resort. We were in three different rooms the first three nights. First room ( building 23) had an overpowering musty smell. I do expect some but this was bad. Was moved to room next door which was better but still very musty. We were moved again this time to building 11. This room was obiviously renovated and was 200% better. No musty issues. Audrey and Richard from Air Transat were absolutely great to deal with on this. No excuses just results. They went above and beyond to meet our needs. Marco the front desk manager at the hotel was also super to work with. The hotel was overbooked but they made sure that we would have a wonderfull stay. Once room situation was cleared up we had a fantastic vacation. Franklin in the Air Transat preference club bar at the beach was always so friendly. His Franklin special drink is well worth trying. Henry at the pool bar is full of life and has a drink called boom boom worthing sampling. I have travelled to many A/I's over the years. I do not think that other than R/D in Panama that I have received such great service as I did at the Occidental. I did read negative results prior to booking but I really cannot give this hotel one. Remember, it is not a five star resort, if you expect top shelf liquor and fillet mignon every night, it won't happen. If you want a reasonable vacation with lots of fun,good service,decent food and super clean grounds and beach, this is the place. By the way, I never found that the alchol was watered down, had a few groggy mornings !!!

Don't believe the reviews, this place was just perfect. We received everything we were promised, the food was great and especially the entertainment was unbelievable. The staff was very friendly and always greeted you with a smile and a Hola. The only complaint I had was that the air transat section at the beach that was reserved for air transat preference did not have any chairs available so we had to get up super early and reserve a chair where ever we could find one. We had a wonderful time and would definitely go back again.

Premier voyage dans le sud. La nourriture était bonne, le menu du buffet changait à tous les jours, resto à la carte correct, l'italien laissait plus à désirer. La plage était belle et pouvions marcher longtemps par contre beaucoup d'algues dû au fort vent, beaucoup de vagues. Chambres relativement propre mais long pour qu'elle soient fait le matin. Le site est beau mais pas beaucoup d'Activités le soir, petite suggestion, il devrait laisser la piscine ouverte le soir avec des lumières, il y aurait plusieurs personne car c'est proche de la scène de spectacle. Il y a un petit marché aux puces sur le bord de la mer petit conseil... il faut dealer le plus possible ex: 2 sacs en bendoulières payés 30$ pour les deux et sur le site il était $28.00 chacun il faut faire attention car ils sont très harcellent. En général très beau voyage mais je veux aller voir ailleurs...

We have stayed at this resort once before, and have enjoyed our time there each time. The resort staff are very friendly, or at least, we have found them all to be friendly. A lot of holas and gracias' do go a long with the staff. Food is as good as can be expected considering the country, and there are more than enough food options available at the buffets. Those who complain about the food, are probably complainers in general all the time. In a nutshell, we would recommend this resort if you are looking for a mid-size resort to stay at with 4 - 5 star qualities.

I will never recomend this hotel to anyone. Since the moment that we walked into our dingy smelly room to overcrouded restaurant with slow service to old bathrooms with no water it was the worst tryp that I was ever on. Nice & clean beach can't compensate for a bad holiday

The lobby and restaurants were lovely, food was good. The hotel was overbooked and crowded, line ups for food, staff was stressed and short tempered. Not near enough deck chairs and there were actual fights over them. Room leaked when it rained, no screens on windows, and there is bugs. The beach and the ocean were wonderful.

Première expérience de vacances pour "touriste" assistés". Si l'on souhaite ne rien faire, c'est une bonne formule. Si l'on préfère découvrir la culture locale et profiter pleinement du pays hôte, c'est une autre affaire !

We booked this vacation for the great price. We woudl normally stay at a five star but for the price we thought we woudl give this a try and go with no expectations. We were pleasently surprised. The resort was fun, a great size (no carts around, you could walk everywhere quickly!). The rooms need some attention, they are out of date and a bit run down, however they were clean and that is the most important part. The food was generally good. the a'la cartes we enjoyed the mosts as well as the pizza place and taco place. The buffet for breakfast was great! The luch and dinner buffets were average at best. The drinks were okay, got better the more your drank. There was no premium booze and all of the liquor was very sweet.
The beach was great! You can tell they take the time to clean the seaweed off, my husband and I went for a walk and there was so much seaweed infront of the other hotels beaches. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel was fabulous. They could improve on the food, but lots to eat. The staff was great. If you want a place to enjoy and relax, this is it.
No complaints, will definitely go back.
