We had a nice stay, it is definitely not more than a 3 star.I had read some of the reviews and I must admit they are quite accurate.I always try to keep on open mind and see for myself. We were there at the end of the season. Staff: courteous & friendly. Food: a variety, nothing exceptional, expect to eat cold, shortage of clean cups, cultery, dishes and tables is the norm. soda fountains are closed until noon.hot dogs as sausage for breakfast, Room: very clean,no coffee machines, bring your shampoo, fridge stocked with 2 small bottles of water daily. Avoid the main building rooms if you want a quiet room. We were given a room with a balcony over looking on the back alley of the kitchen, unpleasant, extremely noisy cooling equipment motors running continuously on top of our heads.We asked for a change and we were given a much quieter room, waisted half a day waiting to have the room ready, repacking and unpacking.. this should not happen. There are not enough beach chairs. Security seems good and it is quiet and relaxing on the beach and pool side. I would definitely not pay $1400 a week for this resort.

Had an awesome time here. Didn't like our room's view at first (it was facing a wall) so when mentioned to the staff, we were able to switch the next morning to a bigger room with a gorgous view. The staff are great. Food is better than I had expected. They could use a few more lounge chairs though, and keep some of the activities (like the pool, hot tub, pool table) open through the evening.
Overall a great experience!

This is the first time I have written a review in the 10 or 12 times I have travelled and this hotel was the worst I have ever seen and not a 4*. The food was a joke. I ate fruit. The staff were cool and were certainly not interested in getting tips with the service they provided. Weather was good but that was about all.

This is our second time at this resort and we loved it. The only problem was we were in the building over the bar and it was noisy when the students arrived for reading week. The shows and staff are all awesome!!

Si vous avez choisi cet hotel, vous avez fait un EXCELLENT CHOIX. Le complexe est tres joli, belle végétation, les chambres ont tous un balcon, la nourriture est excellente autant à la carte qu'au buffet, beaucoup de vague, longue plage pour marcher, pres des magasins a pied, je ne pourrai pas commenter sur les spectacles et la discotheque car je ny suis pas allé. Pour les excursions, nous avons fait le jeep safari mais il pleuvait cette journee là, je vous conseille donc de regarder la meteo sur internet là bas AVANT de faire votre réservation vous apprécierai mieux votre excursion. J'aimerais vous préciser une chose importante si vous voulez économiser, si vous voyager avec SUNWING, lorsque vous imprimer votre billet électronique, sur une des pages vous avez un coupon rabais de 10% sur une excursion..CE RABAIS FONCTIONNE. Il est seulement applicable pour l,excursion Jeep safari ET le catamaran.
Sinon il y a aussi les excursions vendu sur la plage, j,en connais qui ont acheté du vendeur ( TONY ) le Jeep safari est a 45$ vendu par TONY sur la plage et vendu 75$ (67.50 avec rabais de 10%)par Sunwing. Dans les deux cas, a mon avis, pour avoir parler a des quebecois qui l'ont fait par Tony, vous voyez PLUS de chose avec lui. N'en tiens qu'a vous de choisir.

Beautiful, well kept resort, close to downtown Cabarete but lacking something.....just not exciting! Mexican & Italian restaurants were great; buffet food so-so. Overall, good quality for the price.

The beach and gardens are beautiful, everything else is at best 2 to 3 star. The food quality is terrible and the rooms are outdated from about the 1980's. Be sure to bring your own towels. If you are traveling with Nolitours you need to know the rep is useless and you are on your own for obtaining travel information regarding your return flights and any concerns about this hotel. We did read some reviews from this forum that the food was ok but be advised they are very wrong! They actually serve hot dog weiners for breakfast instead of ham, bacon, sausage etc. Everything was stone cold, always!!!!

Mais la c'est la première fois que je donne mon opinion sur Monarc parceque les gens doivent s'avoir à quoi s'attendre lorsqu'il vont dans cet hôtel. J'ai eu une expérience contreversée, pas moche et pas super non plus...Juste dans le millieu...

Nourriture: Passable J'ai trouvé très salé. Buffet petit mais toujours de quoi à se mettre sous la dent.

Chambre: Très Motel comme chambre, pas de cafétière, pas de débarbouillettes. Seulement 2 petits savon et 2 shampoos...

Salle de bain: Le fait qu'il n'y avais pas de bain me stressait mais finalement la douche est assez grande et il y a une petite marche dans la douche pour se raser...

Plage: Très agitée, n'amenez pas vos petits enfants se baigner tout seuls.

Vendeurs sur la plage fatiguants mais ils essaie tous de vivre.

J'ai fait affaire avec Marckenson (Marc) de Freddy Tours pour mes excursions! Je le conseille à tout le monde. Aussi Andy Garcia très bon aussi.

When we first arrived at the resort, we found the scenery beautiful. They had respected our wishes with a room with ocean and pool view on the ground floor, however the air conditionner was dripping water all over the floor so we had to be moved. Our second room was O.K. except the shower door was in disrepair. We booked excursions, our first two were fine but the third was cancelled, we found this out in the morning after waiting 45 minutes. The agent said that a message had been left for us but we did not get it. The ocean is excellent if you like waves for kite surfing and boogie boarding. We are not into that so it got boring after a while. It is also very windy. The peddlers on the beach are a nuisance and their prices are outrageous, you have to bargain with them. The people are very friendly. The animation team did an excellent job of entertaining day and night. All in all is was an ok vacation.

Viva Wyndham Tangerine. Spent 2 great weeks with lots to do and lots to eat. Would return again

This was one of the best vacations I have had the people at the resort were great the only thing wrong was that is was too short.

Cet Hôtel n'est pas un 4*, mais plutôt un 3.5 ou même un 3*.
A notre arrivée, il pleuvait dans la salle de bain, il se vente d'avoir un frigo dans la chambre, mais seulement 2 bouteilles d'eau de 500ml par jour nous était alloué. Wow, quelle vacances. Étant donné que c'est un petit hôtel, le choix de la nourriture laissait à désirer. Les animateurs quant à eux, étaient excellents, les spectacles étaient correcte, sans plus, du lipsing. Moi, je n'y retournerais pas. Quant au service au buffet, ça pris 2 jours avant qu'un serveur nous invite à nous assoeir. Les autres ??? Pas fort, on a même dû se desservir nous même à une reprise. Pas de serveur. C'est le pire voyage que j'aie jamais fait. Bonne chance... Oubliez la baignade, beaucoup de vagues. Les wind-Surfer étaient beau à regarder. Ca été le positif de notre semaine. Notre chambre était près de la salle à manger, mais on était aussi juste à côté des moteurs de la cuisine. L'hôtel était plein, donc, pas trop de possibilité de changer de chambre.

Great small resort. Everything has easy access. Pool, Buffet, restaurants. Entertainment staff is excellent. Like most resorts they need more lounge chairs. the buffet is good with lots of variety. Both restaurants had excellent service and really good food.

We did have problems with the air conditioner leaking water in our room. They did try to repair it, but were not successful. We did fill out a complaint notice form the manager. This however didn't ruin our vacation. everything else was great.

There is a beautiful restaurant in the Palace section that is not used at all. They should move the Mexican or Italian restaurant to this area, and change the Mexican restaurant location for washrooms, and another bar area. This resort is excellent if you get a great deal on the price. the resort is not a full 4 star but getting closer. This was my second visit to this resort.

We were in a shabby room the first night; but were promptly moved when I was upset with how horribly maintained it was. However; the desk staff were fantastic about the change. Our new room was great! A ground floor deck with an ocean view! Tipping seemed to make for a much cleaner room on a daily basis as well.

Don't bother going to the a la carte restaurants (Mexican is awful and Italian is mediocre) but the buffet was actually really good. Lots of fresh fruit and salad as well as many other great, healthy choices.

If you like water sports, this hotel is amazing! All of the "rentals" are free and if you are wanting to do any other excursions book with Alberto (beside where you get the towels).

If you are a drinker, you may not like the no name brand liquor. However, my husband said that the drink quality and selection was ok in spite of it.

The entertainment/animation crew at this place is outstanding! We are NOT activities people, but found ourselves participating and having fun anyway.

The bad: This resort should spend more money fixing stuff like door locks in washrooms and hot water tanks etc...this would make it an actual 4 star, everything else is good.

Honestly, the service would be the major reason to return to this resort. It was great for what we paid. If you're looking to just relax, do water sports or you have a family, this is the resort for you.

This was a smaller hotel with fewer amenities. The rooms, pool, beach, food, cleanliness etc was on a par with what we have experienced many times at many resorts. The kids club was a major disappointment and our 8 year old who loves kid's clubs wouldn't go. The nightly entertainment was not up to par even for other similar sized resorts.

We loved Viva Wyndham Tangerine Hotel. The staff were some of the best we've met over all of our years of travelling. the facility was very clean and they transformed the resort on New years Eve to make it a memorable night. Food was great, rooms clean and the facility was quaint. beaches were clean and there was always plenty of chairs/loungers and shade when needed. The ocean was very rough and wavey if you like that, we did! The staff was very accomindating as well, we wanted to switch rooms due to noise from the main street and they moved us immediately. The only complaint would be one excursion we did into Puerto Plata. Although the bus driver was very informative, we would have liked to been able to shop more freely in town rather than going to just one store affiliated with Sunwing. I would have preferred an outdoor market.
All in all the trip was wonderful, people were great and I would definetly return to this resort.

We had a wonderful time, from start to finish. The hotel is 20 min from the airport, no problems with pickup or drop off. Our room was clean and in good condition, no problems with anything. The buffet is good, lots of variety and a different theme every night. The snack bar pizza is awesome! The shows in the evening are fantastic. The dancers are very friendly and interact during the day with the guests. The only inconveniences that we experienced were shortages of lounge chairs on the beach and beach towels, and the vendors on the beach selling things are annoying.
Oh, and the disco smells terrible, like dampness, mould/mildew. We would have spent more time at the disco, but the stench was disgusting.

We had a fabulous time in the Dominican. The food was great and the entertainment was lots of fun. We met many people from all over and had a wonderful vacation.

Viva Wyndham Tangerine was just what we needed - an inexpensive trip to a new place with a lot of relaxation built in. We did two tours off-resort - the Puerta Plata half day city tour with gondola and the 27 Waterfalls. The first one was good, but there could have been fewer stops at touristy shops. 27 Waterfalls was amazing, but not for the unadventurous or those scared of heights!
On the resort, we enjoyed the shows and the room was fine... the pools were nice, although the hot tubs weren't hot. The beach was fantastic for boogie boarding and walks, although not the best for swimming, as the waves were very big. The food was not fabulous, but it also wasn't bad. We liked the Italian a la carte the best.
Overall, we needed a break on a budget, and we got just that!

This resort was very quiet which was a nice way to relax. Overall 3-4 stars. Very nice beach, very clean hotel, and excellent maintained grounds at the Viva!! Would go back if I got a deal!! If you understand that this is a poor country than the Viva will pleasantly surprise you with its standards. Bravo Viva Wyndham Tangerine!

Nous avons bien aimer cette Hotel, nouriture tres bonne. Spectacle le soir varier et amusant avec beaucoup de costumes. Le personnel tres sociable et tres accueillant pour ce qui est du bar on attend pas a cette hotel 4 a 5 Personnes pour nous servir. Pour les deux restaurants a la carte, L'italien et le Mexican nous avons bien aimer, mais le personnelle des deux etait tres serviable.La plage est tres belle pour marcher.
