 Swimm and rest.

This small resort closed to La Habana has excellent snorkelling options right from the beach and has a very friendly staff. Many are repeat guests, the average age is not the youngest but it allows for a perfectly fine vacation.

If quiet and relaxing is what you're after...

It’s my 3rd time to Cuba and that gives me some point of reference while writing this. I’ve stayed at a 3 star that claimed to be a 4 star and I stayed at a 3.5 star that was a 4 star. The Breezes Superclub claims to be a 4 star and I’d say it lives up to it. [taking all cultural differences into consideration].

THE CHECK IN was smooth and painless [although no opportunity to upgrade]. The lobby and buildings were well maintained and clean… bright and up to date. Our room [building 9, second level facing pool] was well suited for our needs - halfway between the beach and the main building.

THE BEACH AND POOL AREAS gave us no problems [aside from early morning lounge chair “saving”]. The bartenders and staff where excellent... keeping in mind that ANYWHERE you’ll find grumpy people, unhappy in life -we met them too.

THE FITNESS ROOM was clean, uncluttered and on the beach – nice.

THE FOOD in any of the places we ate, are better than other places in Cuba. The assortment was reasonable and I’d not go hungry. If you tire of lining up for omelets in the morning, bring some peanut butter and jam, or canned tuna salad – their bread is great. Also note that they have no chocolate so a few snacks came in handy for us.

THE ATMOSPHERE was pleasant and something we were looking for so we were delighted to find that the majority of people were 50 and older. There were a few younger couples and a few young adults with their families that seemed a touch bored. But if you prefer to stay away for egotistical, over indulging, clowns trying to “prove themselves”… this is the place for you. The entertainment staff did a good job of reading their audience – finding the balance between getting people involved in a beach soccer game and letting us relax in the sun. There were paddle boats, kayaks, catamarans and snorkeling right off our beach…

I’m partially afraid of telling too many people about this place – because we feel we’ve found a magical place in the sun and don’t want it ruined. My sister and I [both in our 40’s] will go again for sure… good value for the money.

NEGATIVE: If I had to share a negative… the exchange gal at the front desk tried to rip off my sister [only for 60 cents] but when we confronted her she apologized and gave us the money. Be sure to get the print out of your exchange as they are supposed to do that for every transaction [and didn’t for my sister and the guy after her]. Also found the maid was watching TV with someone else in the room next to us when the guests had checked out and she was remaking the room… actually had to ask her to turn down the soap opera she was watching. Too funny.

 Highly recommended

We really enjoyed this resort. Found it clean, great entertainment, friendly and excellent service, wonderful beach, good food and overall a lovely holiday. The water sports provided were beyond expectations. I would recommend this as a great place to spend a holiday and see Havana as well.

Fabulous even the second time around

The last time we were there was May 2010 it is nice to see the same staff still doing a great job of welcoming and serving the vacationers.

The hotel is in a georgous setting with a wonderful beach and reef just off the shore to snorkle or just stand in the water and watch the various sea creatures.

Be sure to check out the Lobster night on Wednesday in the Buffet and take the guided hike up the hill to see the magnificient view.

Will go again. Recomend to adults 30ies

Not for young singles looking for love. Older couples mostly and not much nightlife. But beautiful location quite a bit away from other resorts so quiet excellent beach, older 30 crowd. Friendly helpful staff well organized and good security practices in place. I will certainly return. We had a great experience overall. Thanks also to itravel reps who helped answer my internet booking questions very well.

 Not Great!

Cuba has amazing beaches. The weather was great for us. It was beautiful, we were lucky. The staff was friendly and the site was very clean. The rooms were cleaned daily and well done. The chambermaid was very friendly. I need to research more about this country but it lacked many things I felt.

The food was VERY disappointing. The meat was always overcooked. As a maritimer I was looking forward to lobster night and what I got was a disappointment. It was so OVER-cooked that it was pasty. The vegetables often over-cooked and big cubes of boiled food that looked unappetizing. My boyfriend once visited this resort many years ago and felt the cooking was not as good as before. The desserts were mostly awful but I rationalized that I would gain less weight this way.

There was no alarm clock in the room, the items in bathroom were not replenished daily. We paid for a pool side view and got a glimpse of it and was situated right beside the entertainment site. We had to move since the pounding of the bass disturbed our sleep. We are not party-goers so we had to move to a garden view site instead. They were helpful and understanding with help from Raynald.

The pool was nice, a little cold but refreshing on hot days. There were plenty of chairs even if some people play the towel game.

The beach was clean and very enjoyable. We snorkelled and brought our own masks. The fish came close up to us and enjoyed the bread we fed them. They would come in a school at times. The snorkelling further out was remarkable, breathtaking and memorable. We took a walk further on the beach and met some local people trying to talk to us and sell us things but we had no money on us so we went on our way. It felt a little unsafe and the beach rougher to walk without shoes so we headed back to the resort.

There was entertainment at the beach, volleyball but we opted out. It was nice to have it for people who like it. Santa rode in with horses on Christmas day. That was fun to see.

The bathrooms lacked maintenance. Some doors would not lock properly. In one bathroom near the restaurants there was no toilet paper in any of the stalls the night I went to the restaurant. This should be kept up more I think. They were very clean however.
There were only 2 restaurants and we could only go to the Cuban and Italian once each in a week. That was disappointing so we had to go more often to the buffet.
We will not return to this resort again due to the food mostly.

 Dec 15-29 2011 BREEZES JIBACOA

The resort is attractive and well-laid out. It has all the amenities of a four-star except no free internet. Our second visit in two years, food quality has slipped and overall customer service was down. Begging by locals nearby the resort is increased.

 Cuba, Jibacoa

This was our first visit to Cuba with lot of fears and excitement in store. This was the only resort I could find out where everyone commented positive in terms of housekeeping and food. I agree people were fair in their evaluations. This resort is final destination for complete relaxtion and and renergising your soul from the nitty gritty of urban life. Luckily we got the garden view room nicely loacted at the central point. All amenities were steps away . No regrets for missing ocean view .Staff is smiling and always at your service. No time experienced any ignorance. Service with smile was apparent any where in the resort. No complaints.
Couple of things for improvement. TV reception was poor and TVs were pretty old fashioned. Needs replacement.
During this period of time Jelly Fish was quite a scary concern. Visitors need to be informed so that they can bring their anti sting suits and enjoy the beach. we waisted 3/7 days to compy with the jelly fish warnings and didn't enter the ocean. 2 people have jelly fish bite for resty of the days in the Ocean. Other than this everything is a sweat memory and would like to go again. Highly recommend to travellers who just looking for complete relaxation.

 We love this place.

This was our 5th time back to this resort. That alone should speak for itself! First, this is not a party resort. However, it has everthing you need to have a great time. The disco does rock until the wee hours, but we prefer to hit the sack at a decent hour and enjoy the early morning sun! Always clean and confortable. Food is average but we never once left hungry. There is always something to enjoy. Staff here are awesome. Very helpful and friendly. All we can say is try it yourself and we am sure you will be a repeat guest like us.

 Breezes Jibacoa is breezy

We had red flag on the beach every day but one and it was cloudy most days and we heard that it had been sunny every day in Veradero which is less than an hour away. Although I had read previous reviews about the food having gone down hill I was dissappointed with the fresh fruit. The atmosphere at this hotel is great for 50 . We booked pool view and were placed in building 8 which was immediately outside the lobby so we were very close to the buffet and a la cartes. The resort is pretty small though so not a lot of walking required to get anywhere. I didn't see any carts taking people around. The pool view rooms across from us were closer to the pool but I preferred ours. There was only one night when the entertainment was a tad too loud for those that this would bother. The shows start 9ish as there is no show for kids which would normally start first. The hotel was in the process of upgrading tvs and we lucked in to a new one. There were lots of english speaking programs available. A lot of clientelle were smokers and it was allowed around the pool and on balconies. Although we weren't expecting the restriction in our room we found it quite comfortable to smoke on the balcony so it wasn't a real issue. The hotel works hard at keeping everyone comfortable and there were a great number of multiple year repeat clients. Lots of hangers and room for clothes in the closet but only a miniscule drawer space so expect to live out of your suitcase a bit. The hotel was actually overbooked the day we left which is very unusual for any hotel that time of year. I'd recommend this holiday spot for anyone who is looking for light entertainment and a worry-free time with no kids screaming or splashing you around the pool. There were lots of loungers around the pool and cabanas were free and located on the afternoon sunny side, close to the bar. Sightseeing options were available and we were told that one could book a taxi driver with interpretor for the day for $75 through the hotel. Also if you like any spice in your food, bring your own spices, same for coffee and tea in your room. Staff were wonderful and while tips and gifts were very much appreciated, service didn't suffer for those who didn't. Overall, super for the price.

 Relaxing week at Breezes Jibacoa

Rooms, staff and cleanliness was exceptional. Quiet resort, maybe a little too quiet for some. Food was quite institutional. It was a red flag the entire time (just bad timing for us), so can't comment on the snorkleing, but we'll go back.

 Reposant ...
