Très bel hôtel,gens chaleureux,courtois.Belle plage,beaucoup de chaises,de palapas.Buffet(2 étoiles)et je suis généreux.Restaurants à la carte o.k

Make reservations for the a la cartes! The food is so much better than the buffets. The beds are quite springy, so it was pretty uncomfortable. But the rooms are clean, as are the facilities. The beach behind the hotel is clean and gorgeous as well.

we were not happy at all. they never cheng our bed sheet in 7 days. always somthing missing in the room or washroom. room was in the first floor smell very bad .we dot want to go back ther any more.food was bad too

Very nice place with very nice people.Accomomidations were not quite as expected, however were fine.

This was the most amazing hotel we've been to. Employees were polite, helpful,courtius, very professonal. We just loved it and plaining to go back next year The choice of food was excellent.

It was an "okay" resort but cleanliness was not what we expected from a "5-star" resort. This was our 5th trip to Cuba and we would put it in 4th place when compared to other resorts we stayed at.

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine. Le personnel est exceptionnelement acceuillant. La nourriture du buffet est très bonne malgré un manque de variété jours après jours. Les restaurant à la carte sont aussi très bon, le Japonais quant à lui est excellent. La seule critique est au niveau des serviettes de plage qui sont souvent manquante, ce qui ternit la réputation de cet hôtel. Je n'ai aucune hésitation à recommander cet hôtel.

The staff at the hotel were very nice and worked hard to make our trip pleasant. The pool areas were great with lots of cabanas to sit in the shade if you liked. Although the hotel is newer, in some areas is already starting to show some wear. The food is the biggest issue at this hotel being that it's not good. My husband lost an entire day because he became sick from something that he ate. I had an upset stomach off and on throughout the trip. We ate from the grill at the buffet in order to get as much fresh food as possible. The grill cooks were very pleasant, and tried hard to prepare things the way we requested.

La nourriture etait tres bien tant au niveau des restaurants que du buffet.

La courtoisie des cubains etait au rendez-vous.

L'animation etait bien gérée et les animateurs tres cordiaux.

La plage et les piscines etaient tres propres.

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this facility, from the food (no kidding)to the ocean and back to the pool. It was far beyond our expectations.

this hotel was lovely. it's new so everything is clean and fresh. there were no long walks to get from room to beach, to pool, to restaurants etc., it is well laid out. I went to the Rio across the road, its also new. In my opinion, not as nice, and there are long walks to pool, beach, restaurants. Food was good, lots to choose from. I would have liked the buffet to open a bit earlier ( 6 30pm) music entertainment in lobby was top notch, however I would have liked to hear local music mixed in for variety. One day we had to wait a few hours for a beach towel, not a big deal. you always have to track down a poolside employee and ask for lounge chair cushions--it would be nice if hotel had cushions available to help yourself to, or even put them on chairs in the a.m. ( no cushions allowed on the beach loungers--with good reason, but proved uncomfortable.) I would go back to this resort without hesitation. it was a great week, service was good, food was good.

We had a very enjoyable vacation at the Varadero. The highlights were a stunning but low-key resort and a staff that never skimped on service. They made our stay extra special, providing regular advice and answers to all of our questions. The food was typical of buffets at most resorts. I'm sure there's better food at some other resorts, but it was all edible and I found some of the complaints in other reviews to be exagerrated.

Hotel room is OK, nothing spectacular. Food as expected, good grilled fish, chicken, however improvements can be done with the beef, non-alcoholic drinks, ketchup, and coffee at the buffet. Some loud music noise heard late in the evening from theatre/bar in most of the rooms.
Pools are nice, including kids and adults. Beach is very nice and always there are available chairs. Need for more beach towels is evident almost every day. The beach chairs have no mats as the ones at the pool so are hard to seat on for any period of time.
Staff at kids club is very helpful and trying hard to work and please the kids and the parents. Not much of hassle from people at the beach trying to sell you stuff.

Resort was great but carrier was disappointing

The resort was fine, however when we first arrived our room had a terrible musty smell and we had asked for an ocean view which we did not get. The resort is very loud and not very clean. Not a very relaxing atomosphere. Also got very sick there not sure what it was from.

Overall:a wonderful trip and hotel for excellent value

Cet hôtel est très propre. L'animation sur la plage, aux piscines,les spectacles du soir au théâtre est vraiment bien organisée, on ne s'ennuie jamais. Nous avons adorés notre semaine.

L'hôtel est bien situé, on y retrouve un bon accueil et le logement est correct. Très propre,belle plage, les chaises longues n'ont pas de matelas pour la plupart et elles sont très dures. Le gros hic: la restauration. Le buffet est abondant mains manque de goût, le vin est tout simplement imbuvable.Pour 7 jours sur place, nous avons droit qu'à 3 restaurants à la carte. L'italien et le cubain sont minables et seul le japonais n'était pas mal.Le vin était un peu mieux à ces endroits. Le buffet de la plage est bourré d'oiseaux et de mouches. Après avoir séjourné au Paradisus c'est vraiment tout un monde au niveau restauration. Si le Paradisus est un vrai 5 étoiles l'Ibéro n'est qu'un 3.5 .

The hotel was amazing. Staff was wonderful and there's lots to do. We were not expecting great food as this is our third trip to Cuba. The food was horrible (ie. cold, uncooked pasta; raw chicken)

The Iberostar Laguna Azual is a beautiful resort. We were so impressed with the resort - the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are large, comfortable, and clean, the food is good, the beach is amazing, the pools are wonderful and the grounds are beautiful and the drinks are great! There is always something to do whether you are sitting poolside or on the beach, there are acitivities to see and do and night. The lobby and lobby bar are great places to gather in the evening and meet new friends. Great entertainment nightly can be found at the theatre and of course the disco starts when the entertainment at the theatre is done. I absolutely loved this resort. What impressed me most were the number of Canadians I met who have been at the resort on several occasions - seasoned and experienced travellers who have decided the Laguna Azul is their resort of choice. You won't be disappointed if you decide to stay at this resort. It's just wonderful.

Great hotel awful food will not go back to Cuba. Prolblems on the beach with locals selling junk constantly bothering you. Pools are cold and no premium alcohol . Rooms are very nice and so is the resort easy to get around. Comparing to last years trip at now jade in Mexico I will not go back to Cuba the food is that bad!!!!!

We stayed at Laguna Azul same week last year (2011) and had a wonderful time and were very pleased with our choice, last year our only complaint would have been the food was sub par. However, this year, Iwe don't know if they have new chiefs, new food suppliers, but everything was better, never a problem with choice or quantity, yes you have to remember that this in CXuba, but even with that said the food was VERY GOOD. Great to see many of the same faces, in the staff, and even more amazing to be recognized from last year, a shout out to Raul from the Dinning hall, he could not have made us feel more welcomed back. We requested a non smoking, King size bed with an Ocean view and that was exactly what we received (Rm 14411). Brought a very large refillable drink container from home, so it took 5-6 beers to fill,and didn't need to make as many trips to the bar, a great idea from a previous comment, we read before leaving for Cuba. Entertainment was much the same as last year and what you would expect to receive on a cruise, but still very entertaining. Had a problem with my key, front desk person, even remembered what room we were in from our time spent at check in. The room was spacious and very clean, (Iris did a great job) never really felt completely dry, but you can't get away from the humidity, fridge was not always restocked, but the pool bar was just a few steps away.
Our Transat rep at the Hotel (Judith) was very informative.
Unlike most oif the Hotels we past on our way into Varadero, the Laguna Azul was exactly as represented in the travel beouchure!

We will be back in 2013.
