C'est en arrivant à Santa-Lucia que les Québecois parlent de l'Hotel Caracol comme étant leur chalet. Je suis d'accord. Je donne comme évaluation un 4 étoiles. Cet endroit est assez extraordinaire. C'est un hotel simple, sans prétention, mais combien accueillante et humaine. La nourriture est simple mais très bonne. Il y a moins de choix qu'au Brisas par comtre mais cela n'est pas un problème. On réussit toujours à bien manger. Les suites sont tous très propres.

Le personnel est affable, courtois et surtout très professionnel.

2 ième voyage à cet endroit en 2 ans.Toujours le même bel accueil de la part du personnel.Les chambres de certain bloc sont en rénos donc on nous avais placés dans le bloc situé près de la piscine,endroit très bruyant la nuit :((
La fin de semaine les cubains débarquent en famille....ouffff ça c'est pas drôle ils prennent le buffet et la piscine d'assaut et ne sont pas propre du tout.Même le responsable cubain de la piscine était décourager.Disons qu'on a passé du temps sur la plage à la place!
Mis à part ça tout est bien,nourriture correct,bar à pâte et grillade super!Snack bar aussi très bien. On a manger de la langouste et crevettes chez un paysan pour 10 pesos!Délicieux!!
L'animation du soir était excellente.Beaux spectacles différents tout les soirs .Le niveaux des spectacles est supérieur à l'an dernier beaucoup plus de nouveauté et de nouvelles personnes en font partie .
J'ai un peu déplorer le nombre de chat sur le site....pas parce que je n'aime pas les chat mais parce qu'ils font pitié...tout comme les cubains des villages ils n'ont rien à manger et sont toujours rapatriés près du restaurant :(
Bref on en a eu pour notre argent et on s'est reposer ! C'était le but :) 3.5/5 cette année à cause des chambres mal situées.

Generally we (me and my little son) have got a very good time in the Caracol.

Très bien accuillis, beaucoup de personnel à notre service toujours de bonne humeur, endroit sécuritaire et propre. Vraiment pas cher pour les services reçu. Pour les gens qui veulent se reposer je conseille cette hôtel. Très grande chambre propre avec des femmes de chambres qui font un travail formidable très très propre .

Petit hôtel joliment kitch et très bien entretenu. Pour les amoureux des plages de sable blanc de Cuba, ce n'est pas l'endroit car la plage n'est pas longue et il y a beaucoup d'algues, ce qui est quand même intéressant si on fait du snurkling. L'équipe d'animation est géniale, en particulier Javier, qui est une bombe d'énergie! Service un peu lent en salle à manger mais c'est pas grave, on est à Cuba! Excursion de pêche en haute mer à éviter car tous reviennent des des maux de tête et nausées dues aux odeurs de diesel du bateau mal entretenu. Le plus important: deux semaines de soleil mur à mur et c'est tout ce qui compte!

Nous avons adorer l'hotel. Le rapport qualité-prix est si bon qu'il nous est impossible de dire de mauvais commentaires. Le staff de l'animation était toujours très présents et il y avait des activités pour tous, petits et grands. La chambre était bien et propre et la femme de chambre irréprochable. Pour ce qui est du buffet, et bien Cuba c'est Cuba pour la nourriture. Le snack bar offre une alternative interessante. Un conseil, apportez des collations et du beurre d'arachide, vous le trouverez réconfortant! Notre expérience globale est très positive, nous y retournerions volontier.

This hotel is what you expect for Cuba, it's what you make of it. Loads of fun or quiet relaxation.

We were looking for a cheap last minute getaway and that is what we got. We decided to go to Hotel Caracol aka Club Amigo Caracol, because of other people's comments here. We were pleasantly surprised with our room, the staff & the beach.
The internet access is so so - generally worked better during the evening.
The food - well it is bland. There were a few items that were really well done. The repetition was what got to me.
This is not a 5 star resort. It's definitely a 3 plus. There is nothing fancy. It's Cuba.

If you want a relatively quiet vacation with access to activities & entertainment this is a great resort.

Just a note - this resort (area) uses 220 v outlets....so bring an adapter. You can charge items at the front desk if you don't have an adapter.

Jai choisi cet hotel du aux commentaires positifs sur le sur site . J'ai adoré mon voyage tout le personnel est vraiment gentil! Oui la nourriture nest pas tellement bonne mais il ne faut pas oublier quon est a cuba ! Jai quand meme pas crevé de faim le fish and ship au snak bar est vraiment bon il y a un restaurent luna del mar juste a coter et la nourriture est excellent et pas dispendieuse:) pour la plage il faut absolument des chaussures pour aller dans leau personnellement c'est le seul point negAtif de mon voyage mais je me suis contenté de la piscine ou il y avait de lanimation vous pouvez egalement aller en caleche pour quelque pesos a la plage coco beach qui est plus belle la bas. Apres 11 h il ny a plus danimation .. Mais pour les fetards il y a une discotheque juste a cote accessible a la marche il ny coute qun pesos pour y rentrer et pour boire de la cervesa ( biere) aussi. La plupart des clients sont des habitués de la place. Les chambres sont propres il y a un petit salon a lentrée . L'equipe danimation est vraoment incroyable vraiment gentil et savent mettre de lambiance !! Bref, c'est sur que jy retourne :)

The room was very nice with a sitting room and a balconey. The food was OK. very nicely presented, Activity staff very energetic. Bus ride to the hotel very long but scenic. I would recommend this hotel. There were two negatives, on the bar service was very poor at times..The bartender knew we were waiting to get serviced but still no service...at the swim up bar. The beach was terrible..not suited to sit out on..

Je suis partie pour l'hôtel Caracol suite aux recommandations d'amis. J'avais quelques attentes. Celles-ci ont été satisfaites et j'étais bien heureuse de découvrir d'autre aspect de cet hôtel. L'ambiance est à la détente et à la conversation.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel, generally.

Rooms were clean and simple. Food was better than we expected (simple, plentiful, good amount of choice).

Staff were excellent.

The beach is not great, but plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Bring water shoes.

I have stayed at this property for the last 6 years. Staff is very pleasant and hard working with few exceptions, some believe that us budget travellers have mega bucks. This is a smaller resort which allows you to get to meet fellow travellers and get to know the staff. The Entertainment staff is outstanding and hustle from morning to late night. The house band is a highlight this trip. I had occassion to see the hotel nurse who does a great job and is more like a PA that an RN. The food improves every year, and the variety increases. Rooms are well kept and my maid was very creative with towel folding this year. Except for an AC that dripped occasionally accomodations were great. Beach has more coral pieces than other locations but it's not a big deal. If you are looking for a location with staff that are very accessible and remember you, a great location, great sized, well kept rooms, quiet relaxing beach, this is it.
The few down sides were a group of older men on the prowl for Cuban girls, barely concealed payoffs on the beach between vendors and the security workers, and for the 3rd year in a row the airport check in person tried the overweight bag crap.
Overall I love this place and will return next year.

After a few years of going to the same resort in January for 2 weeks, we decided it was time for a change. We chose the Caracol based on price & reviews.

We usually go to a hotel on the south side of the island and were a little concerned that the weather might not be as good on the north side, but it turned out that we had no reason to be concerned. Aside from strong winds making it difficult to relax on the beach, it was sunny & very warm/hot.

Overall we were very happy with the hotel/resort. The rooms were a good size & we enjoyed having the little sitting area in addition to a decent sized bedroom/bathroom. Although the rooms could use a bit of sprucing up/paint/plaster repair, it was always clean and the maid did some creative towel art every day.

The food is ok...nothing gourmet, but remember people...this is Cuba. Sure the buffet is repetitive, but they do their best with what they have. I don't know about you, but I don't make 3 different choices of meat for dinner every day!!

The beach snack bar has really good burgers & fish and chips. They also have sandwiches made to order. We were really impressed by the chef & server. Both of them take orders...never write anything down and manage to get it right everytime. Chef will make pretty much what you want....tip them well, they deserve it.

The Hotel Caracol staff works really hard so that you have a good vacation. Lots of activities to participate in if you want to. Evening entertainment is pretty good too. Loved the house band!!

Lots of loungers (not all broken as said in a previous review) around the pool and shade canopy replaced while we were there & more loungers at the beach.

Take a walk along the beach, check out the centro commercial or walk down the road to the El rapido and neighbouring village. Gives you a bit of a taste of the "real" Cuba not the hotel Cuba and makes you appreciate what you have at home!

All in all, we were happy with our choice of the Caracol and would return if "the price is right".

J'ai vraiment apprécié pour un club à Cuba. La bouffe était simple mais fraîche et variée. Les chambres un peu vielle mais la plage était bien et très calme. Si je voulais plus de mouvement,la piscine était génial pour ça. Le personnel était courtois.

This hotel is very nice and clean,the rooms are very well apointed with a seperate sitting room, and fairly new bathrooms, the beach is a disaster as it is full of sea weed all the time.
The staff are what make this hotel such a nice place to stay

people the resort everything was to my satisfaction I'm even going back in the fall and I will be staying at the Caracol ..

Had never considered booking a 3* in Cuba until a friend booked this hotel on sale. We checked the reviews and mostly they were pretty good, so for the price we booked it. We had a great week! We had 2 days of cool cloudy windy weather but the hotel could not control the weather. The property is small and we found that suited us to a T as we could walk anywhere in a few minutes. If you forgot something in your room, you did not mind going back to get it. Our rooms were clean, cleaner than a few 4*'s I have stayed at. The little sitting room was a gem! We could sit by ourselves or have company in and not have to sit on a bed. The beach was great and yes, there is seaweed so bring beach shoes. The water was warm, clear and clean and that is all I needed. We went out on the catamaran twice which was so enjoyable. We took the optional tour to a Cuban tourist ranch which included a small rodeo and a horse back ride through a small poor village. Bring some candy for the kids, they love that. If you go say hello to Vicente, he was a great tour guide. The food ..... well lets say it is where the 3* applies. There is nothing wrong with it, but very boring, bland and little variety. We did not go to Cuba for the food, but it was all well prepared. Having said that the fish at the beach restaurant at lunchtime was really good! One day we tried the hamburgers and they were also very good. And it the morning we could have fresh eggs made to your liking, so every day I had a freshly made omelette which was a great way to start the day. On my last day I booked a massage with David, 30 mins for $10 ..... it became the highlight of the week, and I jokingly said I was coming back for David..... I was not joking, next time I go I will book 30 mins with David every day! My one regret was not going to him on day one. I have nothing negative to say about the resort. It matched it's 3 * rating. And as for value for the $, we came out ahead!

Food was less than average: but staff, Resort, beaches, and water were way beyond expectations!!

This was my first time to Cuba and will now be my last. The moment we arrived at the airport in Camaquey it started as we were greeted by a very poor Sunwing rep who spoke little to no english and gave out very poor details as to where and what to do once we arrived. The 1 1/2 hour drive from the airport was expected but was very tiring. Upon arrival we were greeted by another non english speaking front desk and help. Once checked in and changed we made our way to the pool which we discovered was extremely small and only 4 ft deep. The lounge chairs surrounding the pool were 75% broken and very uncomfortable. The first thing we noticed to our disgust was the abundance of prostitutes and there very senior "dates" . It was very upsetting to see a young national performing sex acts on a 60 hotel guest right at the poolside. As for the meals they were extremely inedible with no taste and very poor selection. The existence of a recognizable dish was not to be found. There was no fresh vegetables ever and the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful through out the stay. As for the beach it was infested with flees making it unusable for the entire stay. This was by far the worst trip I have taken in my life. I was looking forward to the Cuban experience and this has me wish to never return. As for shopping for the simplest of souvenirs it was nearly impossible. Bottom line DON"T GO TO SANTA LUCIA!!!!!
