 Brisas

Resort was great. Food wasn't very good but that is expected in Cuba and I was able to get by as a vegetarian and picky eater. Not the best for singles, but the nearby beach parties off of the resort were fun. The nearby flea market was good.

 Reasonable valued sun location

One has to understand Cuba to appreciate that the Brisis is a premier hotel in the area...Cheap by most North American/ european Standards good value for the $

 Great Vacation

This was our 4th time at this lovely resort. We stayed in the Villa Section again with a wonderful ocean view. Great service; good food; wonderful people; Will be going back again as we have met so many cuban friends and cannot wait to see their smiling facing again.

 Vacance relaxante

Excursions dispendieuses.
Pour moi 8/10

 Cant wait for 2013

This resort is beyond great! We were upgraded to the Villa which would be my choice always! The Hotel is amazing as well, but the Villa offers the best of both! I have no negative feelings whatsoever about Brisas.

Great Family Get Away & Great Staff

This is our 6th trip to this property in the last 10 years and it is the location, close walk to town, friendlyness of staff that remember and welcome you each time and the relaxing atmosphere of the resort that keep bringing us back. This is our first time back since April 2011 and noticed a lot of new renovations, 3 new a la carte restaurants, a Rum Bar on an open terrace on the 5 th floor (great Pina Caladas) and view and the main pool has been rebuilt with some deeper areas to swim. The extra $40.00 PP is well worth paying for to get an ocean view room and try to request the 4th or 5th floor for the best view. There are a lot of optional tours available but 2 of the best are the horse and buggy ($15.00 hour for up to 4 people)- you always get extra time, just walk out to the road and you will see them, another nostalga tour is to hire a vintage taxi (1954 - 1959 GM, Ford or Chrylers)which are parked on the road and have a yellow taxi sign on the dashboard. Our cab was a Red 1955 Chevrolet Station Wagon in mint shape and the driver only charged us $20.00 for one hour and 15 minute ride, thats a bargain and to top it off he offered to let me drive it for a couple of miles and that was a thrill of a life time. If you want to see how the locals live take the train tour that picks you up daily in at the main entrance. Swimming and snorkeling are great, for the best snorkeling you need to swim out towards the reef to the clear water and take a disposable underwater camera for some great pictures of the reef and fish. If you have never taken your family to an all inclusive resort this is a great place to start, also cash is easier than credit cards due to the limited amount of places that take credit cards and only Visa or Mastercard are accepted, no Amex. Also if you use a credit card you can be surcharged 3- 4% extra versus a cash purchase. There is a great market place in town with many hand crafted items but again they only take cash, if you see something you want buy it the same day as the vendors rotate and change each day so you may not see the same item the next day. To conclude this is a great destination but please remember this is CUBA, if you are looking for the same 5 star luxury properties you would find in Aruba or other exotic destinations Cuba is not the place to go. For great family value I recommend Brisas.

 Good

Was a great hotel. Super nice staff! Was not impressed by the buffet at the main hotel however FYI the El Zaguan in the Villa section is an A la Carte at lunch and no reservations needed. And also if you are in the Villas, we were not told that our check out was 3pm instead of the 12pm checkout for the main hotel. Water is so amazing! Its about a 50 min bus ride, but its a good ride, see lots of countryside and how the real Cuba is.

 Excellent !

 Another great holiday

Other than a couple of bartenders at the poolside bar everyone is very accomodating at this resort and they seem to remember you and truly treat you like family. This was my third time. The food is great, I've never had any problems and there is alot of variety with 6 a la carte restaurants.

 Ok

 Brisas remains a wonderful destination

This was a return trip to Brisas Guardalavaca and we were not disappointed. We were last there in 2009 and since then Brisas has added a few new à la carte restaurants and lunch / snack bars as well as the new tavern which serves international beers and the Bacardi rooftop bar. They have also entered into partnership with the SAQ (Quebec Liquor Board) and you can purchase some very nice wines either by the glass or the bottle.
Our biggest complaints: 1. the shortage of chairs at the beach 2. The disco held on the beach Saturday night went to the early hours of the morning and as our room was facing the beach we got a very poor night's sleep.
We took in the excursion to Santiago de Cuba - a 12 hour day trip which was not a disappointment as our guides were very good. We also did the Grand Jeep Safari - to Castro's birth place and to Cuba's highest waterfalls. A very bumpy ride as the roads were practically non-existant for 2/3s of the drive (therein the safari portion). It was great to drive through the mountains and get a good look at the Cuban villages. We enjoyed a very good lunch when we arrived at the Eco-center and the guide was a very personable young man. I wish my Spanish was half as good as his English!
My only warning - if you like an early and peaceful night's sleep do not stay in a hotel room that faces the pool area.

 Brisas Guardalavaca

Excellent service from all levels of staff, from the chambermaid to the nurse in the clinic. We found them all to be very informative and helpful!
Entertainment was very good this time, excellent band several nights, the water ballet was amazing!

Food was lacking in variety. The food available was always well prepared and well presented but it was usually the same day after day for both lunch and dinner. We did not see any orange juice in the week that we were there.

 Loved it !!

Went with my girlfriend mid-late 20's not much of the partying type. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Entertainment was decent. We ate and drank everything without issue. We upgraded to the villa section, seemed much quieter than the hotel section and not much of a walk...1-2 minutes maybe. Highly recommend it.(also many services in villa area too so not that its a great inconvenience)

Desk staff didn't seem to go the extra mile for you, but at the same time we didn't push so...

Overall great time definitely would go back, oh, and if you like snorkeling or think you might bring your own gear for sure, we had a blast right out front of the resort.

Highly recommend the dolphin tour as well.

 Great experience at Brisas Guardalavaca

It was the first time we went to Cuba. We were very much impressed about the people in general and about the people serving this particular resort: kind, ready to serve you regardless the time of the day and continuously smiling. Personnel never asked or suggested that we need to tip them.
This is a destination we will definitely consider going again.
