 Paradise island harbour resort

The manager was just fantastic! He spent time with us and we could tell he enjoys his job very much! The staff were pleasant and I could see they all get along as one big happy family!

 Loved it!

The main floor of the resort is quite nice, the staff were amazing! The rooms are a little tired but we spent a total of an hour a day in room outside of when we were sleeping. We upgraded to an ocean view room w/ a balcony and that made our trip! Food was good, drinks were flowing. Will definitely be back, this time with the kids.

You get what you pay for

The hotel was about what i expected given the price. I was a little disappointed that my shower stopped working 2 days in but I didn't bother asking for a new room. Staff was not overly friendly or receptive. Food was good though and pool was well maintained. I didn't expect much given the price that I paid for the vacation and as such, I wasn't disappointed.

Oh my god, the worst place I've been so far

Only 3 things are good there - the resort's location and tours you can buy, friendly helpful staff and good food (with limited choice though). All other aspects are bad. For 3 prices of a trip to Cuba, you will get:
-no beach on site (you have to use public beach with $10 for chair per day as you will not want to use dirty on-site puddle and injure your feet, it is not all inclusive therefore)
-no drinking water in your room fridge, it will work well, but will be empty all the time
-no bar until 11 am. All bars are closed until 11 am
-no currency exchange on the site
-no bar at the public beach, of course
-no fountains to wash sand from your feet on beaches
-no cases on dirty armchairs in lobby
-no concert hall, all events are done in tiny dirty lobby
-soiled oily furniture and will to wash your hands every time you touch it.
You can pay one third and go to Cuba and have all of these things that you will lack here. Only one thing that can make me go there - is to visit Atlantis

 Great trip!

Highly recommend this location and resort. The hotel is very clean, the staff very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious at both the buffet and the poolside grill. Lots of options, something for everybody. The room was better than expected, and fairly clean. The pool is beautiful and a good size, but due to poor weather during our trip, we weren't able to use it. There were a lot of vacationing students for spring break during our trip, and the hotel was very noisy during the overnight hours. The walls are thin, and do not filter much noise at all. Overall, a great trip that we will certainly be taking again.

 Excellent value

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Staff were very friendly, drinks and food were great. Not much as far as entertainment goes, but the Native show on Tuesday night was a lot of fun. Awesome location. We had a blast and definitely plan to return.

Outdated, In Need of a Pick-Me-Up

This hotel was ok, nothing special. Front desk was NOT able to deal with a whole bus of tourists in a timely manner. The hotel was overbooked during our stay and several couples we talked to had been sent to a different hotel for 1 or 2 nights.
Beware of the people in the tour operator room trying to get you in on a "deal". If they offer you breakfast at another hotel and a $100 voucher for Atlantis, they expect you to sit through a 3 hour presentation for a time share. I really do not understand why the hotel allows these people to operate out of the hotel. You could not go from your room to the pool or buffet without walking past them, and they get annoying when they don't remember that you've already said "no thanks"!
We stayed in room 705. There is no air circulation in the room, the windows do not open. There is a lot of rust in the bathroom. The linens are old, but clean. It is horribly expensive to call out from the islands, we found $45 for the first 3 minutes and about $8 per minute after. GET A PLAN WITH YOUR CELL PHONE IF YOU PLAN TO CALL HOME! Internet access was ok, when it was available. There was only one computer while we were there, the other was broken. New computers were installed on our 3rd day, but internet was not available for the rest of our stay. WiFi was available for $10 an hour.
This resort did not provide bottled water, it was $2 for a 500ml bottle from the front desk. In our opinion, the tap water was not drinkable. It seemed to have so much sulfur, it was difficult to use to brush our teeth. You could also taste this in the fountain drinks.
The food at the buffet was ok, not super good, but equivalent to home for the most part. Service depended largely on the waiter, some were willing to please, others were not. We did not book at the a la carte restaurant; by 7:30 in the morning, the only available dinner reservation would be late, although every time we walked past the restaurant, it looked rather empty.
There are not enough beach chairs, and not enough shaded spots to sit. The beach was almost exactly what we expected from the photos, definitely not what you expect from a beach side resort, but the harbor traffic provided a bit of excitement.
Night time entertainment was a bit lame, the only night we really enjoyed was the local dancers and junkanoo tribute, it was very original! (Of course, if you drink enough, entertainment doesn't have to be good.)
Bottom line, you get what you pay for. If you are just looking for somewhere to lay your head at night, this is a safe bet. If you are hoping to spend a relaxing week on a clean, well organized 5 star resort, look elsewhere!

 Had a great time

The hotel is in need of some maintenance and reno's, but for the price we paid, we were very impressed and had a great time. Staff were very kind and accommodating and made every effort to ensure we had a great time. Our room wasn't ready at check in, but they stored our luggage and we had full access to food/drinks, amenities etc. Our room was lovely but the toilet leaked and the phone didn't work. They fixed the toilet, but couldn't fix the phone so they allowed us 1 complimentary call home per day which was incredibly kind. Food was excellent, especially at the pool bar. Bring a bubba chug (from CanTire) as the wait for drinks can be long when only 1 bar is open. We didn't have a problem though (but others complained). Drinks were best from the lobby bar after 6pm. Walk to cabbage beach was nice. Fed the turtles and fish along the way (bring bread from the restaurant). Cabbage beach was gorgeous, but bring towels so you don't have to rent chairs. You can buy booze on the beach and drink out of a coconut, or bring your own. Walk to Atlantis was short. Walk through the village and browze the shops. Well worth it. Go after 6pm and get into the aquarium for free and walk the cave. It was amazing. Casino was a lot of fun. And the water park was spectacular. Expensive though. We attended the timeshare seminar to get the $100 credit for an excursion. Well worth it and they give you an awesome lunch and drinks, and free t-shirts too - just for attending. Takes about 2 hours. Go in the morning so you don't waste any of the day (unless the weather isn't great). We went on the speedboat excursion. No words can describe how amazing it was. They took us to the exuma islands. We had our own private beach (spectacular) and a survivor-type reward lunch, with all the booze you could drink. Amazing. We fed the sharks, went snorkelling, and dove for sand dollars off a sand bar in the middle of the ocean. The final stop was at an island to feed iguanas. An amazing experience. 8:30am-5:30pm. Worth it! The pool was not heated and was chilly. But refreshing on hot days. The man made beach wasn't bad. Rooms were clean. Flight with Thomas Cook was fantastic! Bring warmer clothes for this time of year. We were caught in a cold front and it was freezing - we weren't prepared for that. Evenings were cool. Thank goodness the days got warmer throughout our week. We took a taxi into Nassau to shop at the straw market. It was a great experience. And the ferry back was nice. Very informative. THere were very few kids at this hotel. Looked like limited activites for them. However, there are plenty of things to take them to if you plan for it. We read all the tips and tricks from other reviews before we went and used it to plan our awesome vacation. It was a god send (thanks my Canadian friends!). For the right price I would very much recommend this hotel and would definately go back again.

 I'd go again!

The 3.5 star rating is an accurate one. The resort is older, and looks like a converted hotel. It is decorated nicely, and the staff is very friendly. The room was nice, but the bathroom left something to be desired, it wasn't dirty just worn down. The whole place was very clean (except underneath the beds, they really needed to be swept!!). The heater in the hot tub was broken, but both it and the pool were operational and there is a small beach on the resort as well. The larger (a must see) Cabbage beach is only a 10 minute walk away, as is the Atlantis casino and water park, and the ferry to Nassau. The buffet was good, as was the "grill" they have at the outdoor bar. I found the a la carte to be excellent, although my friend (who ordered the exact same as me) was not impressed. We were only there for 3 nights, and didn't stay for any of the on resort entertainment, but others really seemed to enjoy it, and there is also a caricaturist that stops in most nights (Willard Cunningham), and he did a really great job!! There is 2 computers for internet access, but they charge a minimum of $10 to use. If I get the chance to go back down to Nassau I would definitely go back to this resort.

Don't waste your time or money

I would strongly urge anyone to avoid this hotel. It is tired and in urgent need of renovations and upgrading. The "resort" designation is terribly misleading.
The elevators are a scary experience. I know of one accident on an elevator while I was there, and heard rumours of another.
I had to use my shoulder to open and close the door of my room.
The tap water smells like sewage. Hot water in the shower was a bonus, the three or four times I could actually get any.
The bottom of the inside bathroom door frame was rusty.
The swimming pool was ice cold. The hot tub was about five degrees colder than the swimming pool should have been.
The sun lounges are threadbare and many of them are in disrepair.
Despite posted hours at the two gift shops off the lobby, you can not rely on them being open during those hours.
I am not one to complain about minor deficiencies. None of these deficiencies are minor.
Again, avoid the Paradise Island Harbour Resort at all costs.
I will never return.

Nice and Relaxing week at the Paradise Resort

The Hotel was nice! Clean and close to the Downtown area. You have a variety of food selection. Plus you have the open Bar to grab food if the buffet is close. Very friendly staff except the one's at the reception. We had troubles with the wrist band. If you lose it, you have to pay a 75$ fee. And it kept falling off because of the sun tan oil. Over all it was a great vacation!

Our First vacation in 20 years

Paradise Island Harbour Resort was exactly as I expected.

My husband and I had a very nice restful week at the resort.

The food and drinks were great!.
(bring your own larger sippy cup from home)

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The room was comfortable enough for sleeping/bathing. I had read on line, the walls are fairly thin, but only heard some girls fighting in the next room once at 2:30 am.

The Resort is very close to the Casino and Public Beach

Overall it was a great holiday, the price was fantastic, Paradise Island is a beautiful place to vacation. We would love to go again!.

Paradise island harbour resort - January 2012

The service was very poor. We were never offered coffee or water at the buffets, had to get our own drinks from the server stations. After 2 days of our toilet flooding our room and 4 complaints, we finally got a new room. For 2 days, we did not appreciate stepping into a room in an inch of toilet water.
I was shocked by the lack of service because outside of the hotel, the Bahamian people were so warm and friendly.
We were also disappointed with the deterioration of the grounds (broken and dangling lights, algae in the pool, bathroom fixtures rusted through and falling off). I did find the beds/pillows comfortable though.
The tour operator representative Cecile, was very kind and informative.

 Excellent

Although this hotel is small compared to many resorts I have been to, it was dated yes but clean, friendly and great food. I would definitely go back. We had a defective hairblower and mentioned it on our way to breakfast on the first day and by the time we were done with breakfast and returned to our room it was fixed. We left change and others things in the room and nothing was ever touched. The room was cleaned every single day, the supplies replenished including towels. Never did we have to ask for anything. Service was great.
