 Antigua

A great time, A beautiful place. The grounds are amazing, the staff is great and food is good. There is a lot of wild life at this hotel there are birds flying everywhere. The location is great Long Bay is around the corner great for snorkeling, and Devils Bridge is a short walk from the beach. A good hotel for couples or a relaxing vacation.

 Vacances mars 2012

 A wonderful week!

The Verandah is an amazing spot for a restful week in the sun.
It is a lovely property with nice, spacious, villas and landscaping that is second-to-none.
Everyone working here wanted our holiday to be the best experience it could be, from the top on down. Managers, waitresses, bartenders, cleaning and maintenance staff were all friendly and hard-working.
The food was the best I have ever had at a southern resort. Both the quality and variety were amazing.
Would go back in a heartbeat.
Thanks to all who made this such a wonderful break.

 Amazing Antigua

The Verandah is the perfect resort if you are looking for a laid back and relaxing vacation. There is something for everyone. Families, couples or singles alike. The main beach is perfect for adventure, sports and family. The Rasta beach is a little further and quiet, peaceful with a full bar just steps away.
Chef Raj and his team out does himself every day at every meal. Again there is always something for all ranges of tastes. The serving staff are friendly and always smiles.
As goes with most of the staff on the resort. All are friendly and courteous. Willing to help when they are asked.
Special mention goes out to staff members: Alicia (reception), Dereka (guest services), Toyline (Nicoles/Bucanners), Justin & Kyle at the bars, Brian (porter), Pamela (spa) and "The law" (security). All of which made our week more enjoyable.
The Verandah prides themself on being very environmentally friendly and that they are. You can most definitely see it when it comes to all the foliage and views. Every step is more breath taking than the last.

 Recomended

On of the nices places we have been too. The staff are very friendly and all speak english, what a treat. Even though they have golf carts traveling the resort it is very hilly and older people with mobility problem would have a problem getting about. The food in the main restaurant was not impressive but that ccould be our fault for not trying some of the other spots to eat in. The staff are very efficient and help in anything you need. The beach bar and eating area is excellant overlooking the beach. Only problem with the bar at the beach was that you had to climb up a lot of stairs to get a drink then walk back down to the beach. The beach it self was nice the view beautiful and they offer lots of activities for water sports. The pool area was large with lots of seating. we rented a car for the day and traveled around the island. English Bay what a place just looking at the large private ship in the harbour, must be nice to have that kind of money. The island is very clean comparied to others we have traveled too. We had the water front suite which overlooked the beach area, could not have asked for anything better.

 My opinion

the only issue i can come up with is that the beds are quite firm for my taste, I feel that sums up the rest of what is there!

We had a great time in Antigua and especially at the Verandah. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The accommodations were lovely, clean and spacious. Would highly recommend the resort.

 Exceeded All Our Expectations

Quiet and sweet. The cabins are huge, clean, and cute as a button with a massive connecting (if desired) balcony with your neighbour...great for family and friends. The service was outstanding. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Variety and quality of food is superior. Definitely our favourite all-inclusive destination to date.

 Great resort for relaxing.

Not one bad experience with the employees as all were very friendly and accommodating. Though food choices may have been limited, the choices were of good quality. Short walks to Long Bay for great snorkelling and Devil's Bridge.

 Verandah May 2011

Nice location and layout of the resort. Calm beaches. The only issue is the food, same stuff over the entire week, lack of variety.

 Trip to Antigua

Great facility. Both my wife and I enjoyed both the hotel and the island. Will come back again, possibly the Verandah, again. Will recommend to others.

 Just to relax

The Verandah is a very relaxing place to stay. The 2 beaches are fairly small, but beautifully located in a large, isolated bay.
The room was large and quiet with a nice bathroom.
The food is slightly below average for an all-inclusive resort, never had much variety. Great place just to relax.

Well managed, very nice resort with very friendly staff. Beaches are not that beautiful, but are clean and safe with staff ready to help you to enjoy your stay.

 Lovely resort, friendly staff

We just came back from a one week vacation at the Verandah. We were very happy with the cleanliness of the accomodations, the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food. The selection at the buffet was not huge, but what was there was generally very good. The food at the Buccaneer restaurant was excellent and reservations were easy to make. Free Wi-Fi internet access throughout key public areas of the resort was also much appreciated. The fitness centre was top notch and all facilities in general were very well maintained. If you're looking for a lot of action/activities txchis may not be the place for you (as it seemed to be on the quieter side), but if you're looking to relax and enjoy the sun and the sea we can highly recommend The Verandah.

The Verandah Resort & Spa, Antigua

Location of resort is very good, beach is nice, but very small (no good for walking on the beach). Great water for swimming, safe for kids. Staff is very friendly (except a few), food is not the best (all meat dry), but good fruit, cheese & nuts. Entertainment: music only. Good resort to go to rest, not to party.
No good place for people who have difficulties to walk.

The Verandah is a nice place to stay..

There are many reviews on this resort that are not glowing, however, my wife and I had a great time while we were there.

The buffet is good, and we had no problems getting into the a la carte restaurant whenever we wanted to.
There is a lot of walking up hill and down dale to get anywhere, but I found that it meant that I didn t need to do any other form of exercise while I was there. That said, I would not recommend this resort for anyone with a problem walking and in a hurry to get anywhere (you can call for shuttles, but they are not always nearby.)

Snorkelling from the Verandah beaches was not great while we were there (low visibility) but there are some fish, jellyfish and sea cucumbers that can be seen from the small beach with the Rasta Bar.

If you want to snorkel, walk over to Long Bay Beach (out the hotel to the right and down the road about 150m.) There are some reefs here, but they are very well worn due to the amount of tourists that are out on this beach. Lots of fish to see though!

Overall I would recommend this resort and we would be likely to go back again.

 The Verandah

The Verandah offered clean villa's with great customer service. The food was good at the buffet and grill. The al a carte was excellent along with the restuarant on site at Nicoles although there was a $50.00 additional cost for this per couple. I was a wee bit disappointed with the additional cost for this dining experience although the dinner was great and the ambiance was quaint. There are two beaches to chose from on the resort and two pools, one is adult only which was great for relaxing. Throughtout the resort there are 2 pool tables, ping pong and a beach volleyball net set up. Watersports are available as well and tennis courts in great condition as the resort just celebrated only their 2yr anniversary. The managers introduced themselves to us at the buffet and beach grill. They were more than happy to chat awhile and answer any questions we had. The only complaint was upon check up when a dipute arouse concerning a telephne call placed from our room, the call was placed for approximately 4-5 mins however we were billed a total of 47mins resulting in a fee of $74 usd! The reception advised there was little she could do about it and proceeded to bill us. After much discussion she cut the bill in half. Still quite disappointing considering we were paying for something we did not incur.
