A stress-free check in process, clean and spacious rooms, fabulous grounds, great Animacion team, and tasty food all contributed to this super vacation.

I would definitely recommend this resort.

the room we had was amazing ! directly facing the ocean and very quiet ! did not like the fact that there was no alternative for late check out and no response to lack of pop, not liquor replacement. Other than that room service was very good.

Il a plu tous les jours. La plage était infréquentable. L'air dans les chambres à peine respirable. Bronches fragiles s'abstenir ! Milieu très bruyant le jour (piscine) et le soir (spectacle). Par contre, les jeunes avaient l'air de s'amuser. Il y a tant de belles plages ailleurs en République !

Overall a great hotel...well kept and maintained. Nice location with large immmaculate pools and lots of chairs to relax on ....never a shortage!!! Beautiful grounds....good food and friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms with well stocked fridge. Would go again!!!

Overall we had a nice vacation at Riu Bachata, but after visiting other 4 and 5 star resorts, we felt this was closet to a 4 star (in few regard even lower), but was advertised as a 5.

The hotel itself is nice (except the showers in the room, which are literary two feet wide and a pain to use as a result). The food was ok if you had low-ish expectations (deep fried stuff), but not even close most of the time with other 5 star resorts. There was a huge difference from one day to another (or even from morning/lunch/dinner) as to the selection, and while one evening (the one they asked us to fill in the review forms...) we got smoked salmon, beef carpaccio, porchetta and blue cheese, most other evenings it was a challenge for us to find a tasty and healthy meal. Desserts were a huge disappointment (except for the fondue which was really tasty).

We found out it was impossible to get a coffee in the morning (they only had coffee substitute avail 7-10 am). The imported drinks selection was lacking (although we were happy with the Martini Rosso they had), but the beer they had (local brew, President) was sour and we could not drink it. The cocktail selection was fairly limited, but the ones we tried were very tasty (and a bit too sweet).

We liked the beach because there was plenty of shade (there was also a more secluded beach we liked to go to, but could not get in the water due to extremely sharp rocks). Pool was ok (a bit small), but not that clean. They also had it closed for a day (and we hoped they'd clean it, but that did not happen).

Evening show was not something we liked (compared with another Riu resort we've been last year, Bachata would be a 1 and the other a 10). Internet was available most of the time, but also extremely slow (and I really mean I wished I was sharing a dial-up with ten more people) most of the time.

Staff was ok in the sense that they would do their assigned duties, but we always felt that we're the one that need to accommodate their routines, and not that they should accommodate us. Generally we did not get the feeling that they expect tips (and a number of them were quite surprised when we tipped). If you expect something that they don't regularly do, but would be otherwise easily doable (my wife wanted some freshly squeezed lemon juice), you are probably out of luck. As service goes, we felt the stuff to be a bit crude/unrefined in attitude. For example they decided to pain the balcony of our room, without letting us know, while we were in the room and trying to take a nap! Not only that, the people were making quite some noise, and us asking if they could at least keep the noise down got only got us weird looks and being laughed in the face. Later we noticed in the mess they made on the balcony some empty beer cans.

It was years that my husband and i has gone on vacation. It was our 25th anniversay and I have to say it was amazing.... the staff were great, grounds were clean, varity of food, nightly entertainment was fantastic.. I would go back.. and definitely plan to..for us it was a fantasy trip and definitely a 5 star!!

Hotel in general is average. Animation team are very friendly and they perform very well. Hotel staff are also friendly and courteous. Any issues we had were addressed immediately after we brought them to the hotels attention.

Enjoyed the Riu Bachata. Several people from work had already gone there, so we knew what we were getting. Staff was awesome and kept very clean and if you needed something they were there immediately even in the rain. Food was standard buffet with good variety and theme nights. The only let down were the beds and pillows. Enjoyed and would go back. We didn't have any problems, thought it was lovely and would go back again.

The hotel was awesome! Very Very Clean!!! the beds however are uncomfortable.The food was great all of the staff is very helpful and friendly. Of all three of the riu's in Puerto Plata everyone else we talked to that were staying at the other resorts said they would come back but stay at the bachata.

The Riu Bachata was clean, the staff friendly and the food was good. The buffet had a lot of variety so you could always find something you liked. The animation staff were fantastic...friendly and funny. Shows were ok...have seen better elsewhere. The rooms are passable. We were in block 11 with a view of the lagoon and ocean which was very nice, however the room smelled very musty and had mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and above the bed. We asked them to clean it off and eventually the did the bathroom but above the bed never got done. The hotel is old and could use some refurbishing at this point in time. It definitely needs to have more ala carte choices. The steakhouse was only passable...steak was very tough but the Italian was excellent so we went there twice in the two weeks. Pool was always clean but very very busy. It would seem that the visitors from the Mambo and Merengue liked to be at the Bachata pool rather than their own pools. Beach was as expected, nice but we like the caribbean side beaches much better.
Overall I would rate the hotel a four star, not a five star.

Great time at the Bachata the outdoor dining terrace as well as the the pool with the swim up bar are what sets this apart from the other hotels on the site.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed ourselves very much.. the staff were great, always willing to help when it was needed, entertainment was lots of fun.
Food was good, just have to eat what you are comfortable with.
Pools were great, nice to have the opportunity to go to the other 2 resorts as well for the pools, and food.
The Disco bar isn't included with the all inclusive, you have to pay for drinks here.
The beds were uncomfortable, would like to see them updated.
Had a great time, will be going back for sure.

Overall, this resort was a 5 star, regarding buffet food, staff, and especially cleanliness.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this resort, and had a great time. During the week, only two issues came up which speaks to the quality of the resort. The first, is that it seemed like the alcohol used for the mixed drinks was watered down, and I wasn't the only one that noticed, we spoke with a few people at the bar that noticed the same thing. The second issue was our mini-bar wasn't restocked very well every two days...to the point that the rum was empty for half the trip and despite reception being called 3 times, wasn't filled. Here's some points we made:

- at the airport, avoid the porters...they'll be on you right after you pick your bags up. Same at the resort, after you get your keys they have you wait in the lobby for a few minutes for information, which is when the hotel porters pounce.

- don't worry about the a la carte. It is mediocre at best, and the buffet is much better (plus it is also faster)

- if all you drink is beer and wine...this place is a disappointment, the selection for both they offer is bottom-of-the-shelf.

- the beach is nice...rocky but nice. But with that said, the neighbouring resort (Riu Merange) has an excellent beach and you can access it for free

- rooms were very clean and comfortable, and well taken care of...but the beds are hard, FYI

- we found the service to be excellent everywhere on the resort

- This resort is really geared to families...so heads up for couples.

All in all, not a bad spot and great value for the price to attend.

This was our 2nd stay there, very pleasant staff, room clean towels are always available, food was good, better than our previous trip, only downfall are the beaches not pristine.

In spite of some poor reviews read before arriving at this resort, we were very happy with pretty well everything provided at this vacation spot. It is definitely a 5* resort if compared with other 58 resorts in the Caribbean but not if compared with the Royal York in Toronto or Banff Springs. The food was good with plenty of choices and excellent service.

Riu advertises Internet service in the rooms at an addition cost. The only internet available at this resort is in the entrance lobby and it was found to be agonizingly slow. Best time for use is in the early morning.

The pool was always clean and well maintained by the staff. The rooms are in good condition. There is a musty oder in the rooms but this is normal for island resorts in the Caribbean and the oder was not oppressive. The daily room service was very good.

We met people who were vacationing at this resort 7 & 8 times. This has to tell you something about the resort.

Given the proper circumstances we would be happy to return to this resort in the future. Good value for the money.

Nous avons passé une semaine agréable à l'hôtel Bachata. Le paysage est magnifique, le service est super et le site est propre. Nous avons moins aimé les restaurants à la carte car pas assez (seulement 2) et redondant (entrée presque identique au buffet).

The room's carpet got soaked wet with rain pouring into room as we checked in. The front desk gave us a really hard time when we asked them to change room.
The beach is OK but the sea bed is full of rocks.

Excellent experience:-
- initially our daughter and infant were in another building, asked at checkin and they were moved to our building
- Cust Svc Mgr saw the baby and made sure we had a litre of milk every day for her, great team
- regular themes for dinner, always good
- staff are ALWAYS cleaning site, lovely
- beach is OK, you can find sun or shade and can move to get away from any rocks in the water
- booked a Jr suite with Ocean view FANTASTIC

Absolutely NO complaints, food was great, lobby washrooms were constantly cleaned, room was nice, beds were comfortable, ala cart restaurants were nice and the staff work very hard. Good to see so many people participating in the activities. Met some really nice people and would definitely recommend this resort.

hotel staff very good. no waiting in lines and santo and victor are terrific to get things the way you would like. food is repetitive but there is always plenty. beds need to be renewed but our room was really clean and had great views. i will return again.

Overall a nice place to stay. We had two children under 9 years. Good value for money. Service was fine, food was okay, rooms are clean except for the noise - walls are thin! We were given a ground floor room in block 10 near the bottom of the stairs. We had to move day 2 (Riu was accomodating) because of the noise (some folks are not considerate after hours) and voices carry in the hallways (echo).We heard luggage rolling around the halls at all hours. Moved to top floor of block 4 and things improved, but was not eliminated.

Beach had lots of space and shade (need water shoes), grounds are well maintained and there is plenty of places to walk around (sister resorts). Riu Bachata is not huge so everything is close by. We had two solid rain days and there really isn't much to do at the resort when this happens.

I would return to this resort and maybe pay a premium for a ocean front room further away from everything.

Great trip. Very clean. Lots of great activities led by energetic and fun team. Food is average. Walking path across three RIU resorts is great.

was a very nice hotel, but I'd only rate it a 3 Star, rooms were nice but not great. the beach was very rocky until you walked down to the lower level hotels, never had trouble finding chairs at any point during the day. along with the fact the disco was always dead mainly because the bar was a cash bar and not included
